The next day Arya woke up with a somewhat satiated body, and decided it was time to get a move on. Her current goal was to restore her strength enough to begin cultivation without draw backs, and the best way to so so was to hunt large prey rich of essence.
Arya Is still completely mortal without any cultivation, but has tremendous strength, defense, speed, and regeneration as an undead dragon. So fighting 'early stage body refining' opponents is achievable.
Arya lazily gathered herself on her feet and began moving out of her cave bathing in the blazing sun with a grin full of excitement.
"Em, so since I've lost memories of combat I'm going to have to re-adjust to physical combat....."
"My body has retained its muscle memory, so it shouldn't be too difficult, I've just got to fight with instinct, and correct mistakes within fights. I've also got fire breath, an innate ability of almost all dragons.
"Anyway I'm off!"
Arya trudged out of her cave in a northerly direction from her cave located near the outskirts of the forest located south. Most beasts range from early stage of body refining in the south and extend to mid towards the north.
After two hours of walking at a steady pace north Arya naturally encountered the sounds of two beasts opposing, along with running water.
Drinking water and eating isn't an issue for her due to the status of undeath. The only reason she hunted rabbits was for the essence within the meat that helped replenish her strength. Since the undead are mainly made of death essence, which is usually replenished with atmospheric essence, eating essence concentrated meat speeds up the process.
After sensing the commotion Arya snuck up to the fight within the confines of dense bush and trees to analyze her opponents strengths.
From the current scene ahead, a medium sized dog-like creature with four strong monkey-like feet and a tail that ended with a large monkey hand, was trading blows with a small to medium black lizard leaking poison from its jaw. Both within the 'early body refining stage'.
'I see...., the lizard should be relatively easy prey. The problem stems from the dog as its currently dominating the lizard. The dog has great reach with its strong tail, which makes the fight almost impossible for the lizard.
'Since I don't want to loose out on essence, its best to interfere now before the lizard is devoured or destroyed.'
As Arya watched the lizard attempt to flee the dog after noticing it has no chance of survival, she decided to take action.
Arya bounded out of the bush towards the lizard that was heading in an westerly direction from her.
As soon as she left the bush, the dog was startled for a single second which was more than enough for her to head towards the lizard at great speeds and send a quick slash of her claws after appearing behind it, which sliced the lizards left back leg off as it attempted to turn right at the last second, making it stumble towards the ground, which allowed Arya the opportunity to pounce on its back just as it made contact with the ground, and with her jaw tightly clenched around its slightly smaller neck she crunched it in single snap.
"Oooh tastes good with a little poison as spice. I guess the dog wouldnt have been able to eat it unless it has poison resistance, ah, well. Anyway, enough talking and more fighting."
After killing the lizard it seems the dog was quite furious for me stealing its prey, as seen by its snarling jaw of sickly saliva and fierce growling.
'If I make it more furious it probably would be considerably easier to anticipate.'
So.....
"Come here you ugly mutt, ....Haha" Arya taunted
With a slight understanding of the meaning behind the insult, and a fierce growl, the dog bolted towards Arya with a mad glint in its eyes, at speeds slightly higher than Arya's, and with a hungry gaze leapt at Arya with its maw wide open and its tail elevated at the ready.
Arya narrowly escaping its maw with a side step to her left, she was caught off guard by its speed, almost forgetting the weapon behind it in the midst of her slight panic.
A large heavy tail swung from behind, almost out of Arya's peripherals. Unfortunately she slightly hesitated due to its ferocious maws snapping at her face, so her attention was fixed on its fangs inches from her face, allowing it to slightly clip her right shoulder sending her spiraling backwards, fracturing her shoulder due to the large amounts of strength and speed contained within its tail and fisted monkey-like hand.
Since Arya is an undead she feels no pain as long as its nothing to do with the soul, meaning she didn't hesitate in jumping backwards and gaining space between them despite her limp right arm.
Before it could make another move, learning from her mistake, she kept her gaze focused intensely on all of its body not missing a single movement.
'Damn, I thought this fight would only be a little tough, but It has higher strength than I thought. Even though I have a slight advantage due to my high innate physical and magical resistance. If I was a normal human my whole left side would be missing!'
'I should finish this quickly, incase another enemy appears and ambushes me in a weakened state like I did the lizard.'
After a couple of seconds had passed since distancing herself, Arya took the offensive, sprinting forward, planting her feet in a balanced position with one leg behind the other, twisting her body, and sending a fast powerful left jab, with a twist of her fist almost upon contact towards the enemies chest, while it dodged backwards and swung its tail towards her head, just before she sent 'fire breath' straight at its face and tail with her mouth open wide streaming with orange flames, causing it to reel back in pain from most of its face and tail catching fire, causing a halt of its tail attack.
This created a gap in which Arya took advantage of, with a quick extension of sharp black claws, from human nails to dragon claws, she swept towards its chest and right leg. Unsurprisingly she made contact making it screech in pain once again while it staggered bleeding profusely from the diagonal slash ranging from its chest to right leg, while almost collapsing in pain.
All of a sudden Arya had a bad premonition and attempted to distance herself, as its essence thrummed and burst creating three large identical water blades in an instant, sending them flying in Arya's direction.
After its last effort to weaken Arya, it made the effort to limp towards the river behind itself.
Fortunately Arya sensed the danger beforehand allowing her the time to leap left, aligning herself with the dog after narrowly dodging its water blades.
After witnessing its attempt at escape, Arya launched herself forwards, moving her legs at high speeds of 60 km/h, which is about twice that of a normal mortal. Even though at peak condition her speed would roughly hit 80 km/h. After catching up with her prey, she moved to align herself with its right side, and with a flash of black claws at its neck, decapitated it instantly sending two slabs of meat and its head flying.
"Eating this beasts body should allow me to almost reach peak condition, as well as tasting good, hehe."
After arriving back at her cave with a limp body flung over her shoulder, the day reached past noon.
Arya had healed her shoulder on the way back with her 'undead regeneration', so she roasted her delicious looking prey with fire breath and recuperated her strength by circulating the essence gained. After completely eating the lizard before leaving the battle site, she recuperated enough to heal her shoulder faster and receive some essence leftovers, which she stored to be used with the dogs essence all at once.
Abilities and skills arent as easy to learn as it seems.
*The only reason Arya learnt skills related to mana so easily is due to her nature as a dragon.*
