BONUS CHAPTER
Peter looked into his mirror checking his style for his upcoming date with Elaine trying out multiple different combinations. He said 'sexily' to his mirror a few times before holding his hands on his face cringing. He had no idea how to flirt or do anything on a date.
He eventually decided on a blue buttoned flannel left open on top a plain white shirt along with a pair of white shoes and blue jeans. He put on a nice silver watch that used to be Uncle Ben's on his right and then started to fix his hair in the bathroom. He sprayed some men's perfume onto him and started hyping himself up in the mirror and slapping his cheeks.
He headed downstairs and hugged Aunt May while giving her a small kiss on the cheek "Good morning Aunt May" he said before sitting down at the dining table.
Aunt May looked at Peter confused, as he usually doesn't dress up like this. It was almost like he was trying to impress someone. "What's her name?" she asked Peter while placing two dishes on the table for the both of them.
"Wha, What? I don't know understand" replied Peter quite flustered.
"I was young once as well Peter. You look just like your father when he went on his first date," said Aunt May, relishing his memory.
"Really" replied Peter, curiously. He didn't know his father much but he loved when he heard the little stories about him from his Aunt.
"Oh yes. He was just like you and kept to himself but as soon as it came to a date with a girl he changed into someone completely different. I remember Dad seeing him just about when he was about to leave and started to ask many questions like 'When will I meet her' and 'She from a good family'." she giggled a little.
"He was so embarrassed and Mom didn't help either. I was just sitting there laughing as he tried to shoo them off. You're so much like him." she stopped for a moment looking at Peter who was also smiling listening to the story. "You've made him so proud already Peter. He may not be here anymore but I know how proud he is that you're his son," she said slightly tearing up. She picked up a tissue and dried her eyes.
"Don't cry Aunt May, It's painful when I see you cry" said Peter getting out of his chair and going over to hug Aunt May.
"I'll be alright Peter," responded Aunt May who got up from her chair and went to her purse. She pulled out $70 and gestured to Peter that he should take it.
"I can't take that," said Peter.
"Yes you can, and you will. I want you to make a good first impression, can't have you letting the lady pay for everything," replied Aunt May forcing the money into Peter's hands.
"Thanks" Peter sincerely replied. "I've got to set off now, I'll be back no later than 8 ok?" said Peter backing away towards the front door.
"Alright, Peter. Have fun ok, Love you" she replied.
"Love you too" Peter also replied and before leaving he set his eyes on the picture of Uncle Ben. He did the sign of the cross with his hands paying his respects and love to him before heading out to the coffee shop.
Peter arrived at the coffee shop 15 minutes early and checked his watch getting quite nervous and fixed his glasses.
"Did you wait long?" said a voice. Peter turned around and looked at Elaine who was dressed up in a black rib ruched mini dress with a black purse and heels. She had some dark red lipstick and she clearly pulled out all the tricks for this.
Peter was at a loss for words and just stared at Elaine thinking about what he should he should say. "You ok?" she questioned.
"Yeah, you just look... Beautiful" said Peter eventually finding a word to describe her.
Elaine blushed a little and looked to the floor "Thanks" quite embarrassed, but in a good way. "Want to head in?" she said to break the silence.
"Yeah, let's go" replied Peter walking with Elaine to the coffee shop and taking a seat.
The place looked quite fancy with some wooden tables and a lot of potted plants. It was quite full and they were lucky enough to get one of the last free tables. They sat down opposite each other and a barista came up to the table and gave them a small little menu.
Peter looked at the menu and saw that every item was quite expensive and he tried to play it off secretly thanking Aunt May as his guardian angel. "Have you been here before?" questioned Peter.
"A few times with some friends, but not in this kind of atmosphere" she replied making Peter blush a little before the barista came back to the table asking for their order.
Before Peter could speak Elaine said "We'll take the strawberry milkshake for two" as the barista wrote it down on a piece of paper.
'That milkshake is $30, is she trying to bleed me dry' thought Peter.
"Is that fine with you Pete?" said Elaine.
"Yeah, sounds perfect" Peter responded making Elaine smile whilst Peter cried a little on the inside seeing his money fly out of his wallet right in front of his eyes.
"Cash or card" asked the barista.
"Cash" replied Peter handing $30 to the barista before she walked away. "So how are you?" asked Peter trying to break the silence.
"Not too bad now that you're here" responded Elaine before cringing at her own words, "Sorry, that was cheesy" the two giggled.
"No it's fine, I thought it was cute" replied Peter rubbing the back of his neck and making Elaine blush and the two stayed in a loud silence until it was broken by the barista placing down a medium-sized red milkshake with whipped cream and two straws in front of both of them.
'This is $30?' thought Peter thanking the barista and smiling on the outside, but dying and pale as a ghost on the inside. 'This must be the milkshake of doom, the worst enemy to my wallet' Peter cried to himself.
