Capítulo 30: Assaulting the Immortal Devil Sect
Demonfire was walking towards his Immortal Cave, feeling pretty happy and satisfied. He accomplished the patriarch's instructions, and even found a master for the kid. Since the patriarch views Ximen Wei favorably, and even said that they are connected to the sect by karmic ties, then naturally he would support the kid in the shadows.
Midway to his Immortal Cave, Demonfire's expression quickly changed, it turned ugly, then it turned extremely furious, he shouted, his voice echoing and reverberating throughout the entire Tang mountain range, it was laced with powerful amounts of Qi, and whoever heard it felt the entire world shaking and vibrating.
"Who dares??"
With a single step, he flew right outside the Immortal Devil Sect's castle walls, but he can not take a single step forward because a dome of five colored light was engulfing the entire place. At the very top of the dome, there was a Jade Talisman burning with an everlasting multi-colored light, it was the cause of this.
"The [Heavenlock Space Cage]?"
The other elders, legacy disciples and inner disciples of the Immortal Devil Sect appeared next to the sect leader, they too tried to leave the dome of light but unfortunately, they were not able to.
Each and every single one of these present figures are formidable cultivators whose names alone inspire fear and awe into the hearts of people, there were almost 200 such figures, with 20 of them being venerable and reverred Qi Masters.
They launched frenzy attacks at the dome of light, but to no avail, they had to watch helplessly as an army of over three thousand soldiers, 500 Level 1 Qi Trainees, 100 Level 2 Qi Trainees, 30 Level 3 Qi Trainees and most importantly, 9 Rank 1 Qi Experts and a Rank 2 Qi Expert made their way into the protective formation of the outer-sect courtyard of the Immortal Devil Sect.
Right in front of their eyes, an army entered their headquarters, they used a strange treasure to bypass the protective formation, and the legendary [Heavenlock Space Cage] Jade Talisman to trap all the powerful figures of the Immortal Devil Sect inside the castle.
The outer-sect disciples are more than capable of fighting against the three thousand soldiers and the Qi Trainees, in fact, it will be a massacre, with the Noble Families' side holding almost no chance of winning, however... The 9 Rank 1 Qi Experts and the Rank 2 Qi Expert are the true terrifying threat.
"Keep attacking the [Heavenlock Space Cage], under our attacks, it'll eventually shatter in less than twenty minutes!"
With that, the 200 formidable figures of the Immortal Devil Sect launched all sorts of attacks against the dome of light, loud explosions rang out in the air as one attack after another hit.
Meanwhile, the three thousand man army entered a formation with Song Laohu at the lead, he looked at his subordinates and gave his senior apprentice brother one final look before he said.
"Slaughter all outer-sect disciples of the Immortal Devil Sect!"
With a battle-cry, they launched frenzied attacks against the residences and the one-story pagodas of the Immortal Devil Sect. The attack was abrupt, and many disciples were caught off guard, thanks to the Qi Experts on the Noble Families' side, almost a hundred Qi Trainees died in the first clash.
"STAY YOUR HAND!" Demonfire's voice reverberated throughout the entire place, it shook Heaven and Earth, and even the mortal soldiers couldn't help but have blood pour out from their orfices. However, the Qi Trainees and most importantly, the Qi Experts were unaffected, they continued on with their slaughter.
"Truly worthy of a Qi Lord, such terrifying power, such terrifying control over Qi, even with the [Heavenlock Space Cage] blocking 99.99% of your power, that remaining 0.01% managed to affect the mortal army to this extent." Song Laohu just snickered, he turned towards his troops and subordinates and said.
"Don't worry about the Qi Lord of the Immortal Devil Sect, he's just trapped like a bird in the cage, keep on with the slaughter, I won't rest until every single outer-sect disciple of the Immortal Devil Sect dies!" While the three thousand man army was busy slaughering the disciples, before they could make it into the inner areas of the outer sect courtyard, a loud harrumph echoed, almost killing half of the three thousand men mortal army.
Blood poured out from the eyes and mouthes of Qi Trainees and even the Rank 1 Qi Experts felt their blood boil and their qi go into disarray, the only one who was not affected by the harrumph was the Rank 2 Qi Expert.
Song Laohu quickly warned.
"It's a Rank 2 Qi Expert stationed here as a Protector, senior apprentice brother, please deal with him!"
With that, the middle-aged man wearing daoist robes flew into the air, dealing with the Protector of the outer-sect region, their fight shook heaven and earth, the terrifying undulations coming from there made it so that even Rank 1 Qi Experts couldn't even get close!
"Quick! Quick! We only have fifteen minutes before the [Heavenlock Space Cage] dissipates!" Song Laohu hurried. More and more outer-sect disciples of the Immortal Devil Sect kept dying, they were being slaugthered en mass by the Rank 1 Qi Experts.
It was a truly terrifying sight to behold, not a single outer-sect disciple was able to stand up to the Rank 1 Qi Experts, not even the most powerful Level 3 Qi Trainees can withstand a single hit. The Rank 1 Qi Experts were like killing machines while the outer-sect disciples were helpless chickens waiting to be beheaded, they can not do anything except wait for their elders to come for their rescue.
"Such audacity, I'll uproot your entire clan!" Naturally, Demonfire was furious, a grand Qi Lord like him is helpless against a bunch of Rank 1 and Rank 2 Qi Experts? How ironic is that?
Some Rank 1 Qi Experts outside the sect hurried forward to the Tang mountains, they were moving at maximum speed, a squad of four arrived in couple minutes, and without any hesitation whatsoever, engaged in vicious combat against six of the Rank 1 Qi Experts, only 3 Rank 1 Qi Experts are left to slaughter the countless Qi Trainees. Naturally, their killing speed decreased significantly, however, within' five minutes worth of time, they would be able to annihilate all the disciples here.
Ximen Wei was currently hiding near the central area of the outer-sect courtyard along a group of disciples, the moment sect leader Demonfire shouted "who dares", he instantly hurried to the central region right next to the castle building, this was the safest region in the entire outer-sect courtyard, in fact, it was pretty acknowledged amongst disciples, so when he hurried here, he already found a group of disciples.
Why was it acknowledged the safest region? Manily because the Protector resides in the nearby four-story pagoda.
Another reason is that, the sole 6th Heaven disciple of the Immortal Devil Sect, the strongest one, resides here as well!
6th Heaven outer-sect disciple, Lonewitch, is a formidable Level 3 Qi Trainee who once withstood the assault of a Rank 1 Qi Expert and made it back alive! Because her battle prowess is so close to cultivators who has achieved Qi Ascension, she was granted with the Daoist title Lonewitch!
She is a practitioner of an unorthodox path known as the dark-path, she also uses very weird unpredictable Qi Techniques that can allow her to inflict damage without physical contact, hence the name Witch!
She's also a secluded, lonesome and unsocial figure, hence the name Lone!
Another reason that people come here for protection is that a 5th Heaven Level 3 Qi Trainee of the Immortal Devil Sect also lives next here, although he's not as formidable as Lonewitch, he's second to her in terms of battle prowess!
Currently, both Lonewitch and the 5th Heaven disciple are here, alongside Ximen Wei and Zeng Li, the other two Heaven outer-sect disciples are outside, currently engaging in a battle against the Green Lotus City.
Amongst the group, there were also a bunch of Earth Level 3 Qi Trainees, such a group can give even Rank 1 Qi Experts a good fight.
The 3 Rank 1 Qi Experts kept getting closer and closer, ravaging the surroundings, destroying the pagodas and killing countless disciples on their way. Meanwhile, the various elders in the main castle were stuck, watching helplessly as their disciples were being slaughtered mercilessly.
"Perhaps this is karma?" One of the Rank 3 Elders said.
He was met with mockery and scorn, but no one wanted to quibble with him. Sect Leader Demonfire looked towards Murong Xi and said.
"Elder Murong, you're a space-path Qi Expert, is there not anything you can do?"
Murong Xi replied back: "I'm trying my best to figure out a way to breakthrough this [Heavenlock Space Cage], it is tight and air-locked, and I can definitely launch an attack capable of killing those three Rank 1 Qi Experts, but it'll use up all my energy and qi reserves."
"Kill them!" Demonfire unhesitantly said.
And with that command, Elder Murong Xi hands moved in a very complex incantation gesture, something the likes of which Ximen Wei has never seen before, and he casted a multi-layered Magical Art.
RUUMMMMBLE!
A large, violet-colored scythe appeared out of nowhere, it was as big as the Immortal Devil Sect's castle itself, and it slashed down viciously at the [Heavenlock Space Cage], the entire dome of light shook, and cracks began to sprang up everywhere, clearly the [Heavenlock Space Cage] won't be able to hold on for too long.
BOOOM!
A loud explosion happened that shook Heaven and Earth, and thanks to the profundities of space-path, a small part of the attack managed to slip past the [Heavenlock Space Cage]'s air-tight formation towards the 3 Rank 1 Qi Experts who were heading towards Ximen Wei's group.
Although Murong Xi's attack only retains 1% of it's power, that 1% alone can effortlessly slaughter Rank 1 Qi Experts, and wildly injure Rank 2 Qi Experts. The reason why they didn't mention up injuring the Rank 2 Qi Expert fighting against the Protector was because doing so would have almost no effect upon the outcome of the battle. So what if the Rank 2 Qi Expert is injured? Although he would have a tremendous disadvantage in battle, he wouldn't die anytime soon, so the Protector will still be held up and will not be able to help his fellow outer-sect disciples.
A violet light shot towards the 3 Rank 1 Qi Expert, it seemed to encompass Heaven and Earth as it rumbled with unprecedented speed. Upon seeing the incoming attack, the expressions on the three Rank 1 Qi Experts turned extremely ugly, and they flew in three different directions, intent on dodging the attack.
Unfortunately there was nowhere they could hide to, and the violet light of the scythe struck their bodies, transforming it into ash that drifted alongside the wind.
"DAMN IT!" Song Laohu was tied up fighting against the four Rank 1 Qi Experts of the Immortal Devil Sect, although it was 6 versus 4, the group from the Immortal Devil Sect had a slight advantage!
Song Laohu's mind kept working tirelessly, he thought of countless ideas.. There was only a small group remaining at the central region of the Immortal Devil Sect's outer courtyard, it was Ximen Wei's group, almost every other single disciple died at the hands of the Rank 1 Qi Experts. If they annihilated that group, then their mission could be considered to be success.
"All Qi Trainees, go attack the group of the Immortal Devil Sect in the central region! Go! Go! Go!" Instantly, hundreds of Qi Trainees belonging to the Noble Families' group moved towards Ximen Wei's group in doves.
There were only 50 or 60 so Qi Trainees in Ximen Wei's group, with 40 of them being Level 3 Qi Trainees, the majority of Level 2 Qi Trainees died, only the likes of Ximen Wei, Zeng Li and other Earth Level 2 Qi Trainees survived thanks to their awareness and quick reaction time.
Seeing an army of 630 Qi Trainees heading towards them, even Lonewitch started sweating, although the majority of them are Level 1 Qi Trainees, ten of them can match a Level 2 Qi Trainee in prowess, while ten of Level 2 Qi Trainees can match a Level 3 Qi Trainee in prowess!
Perhaps the only people who can face this army, and wipe it effortlessly are Rank 1 Qi Experts and above!
"KILL!" Ximen Wei's group brandished their swords and weapons and fought fiercely against the 630 Qi Trainees, there were only 10 minutes or so left before the [Heavenlock Space Cage] is broken, Ximen Wei's group only had to survive that ten minutes, however, that's easier said than done, they are currently being dwarfed in sheer numbers.
Ximen Wei picked up a sword and viciously slashed the incoming Qi Trainees, at first the Level 2 and Level 3 Qi Trainees of the Noble Families first sent the Level 1 Qi Trainees to tire out the enemy, but upon realizing they don't have that much time, they quickly joined into the fray, making it many times harder for Ximen Wei's to survive.
"[Iron Body]!"
"[Devilish Paroxysm]!"
"[Bloodshield]!"
"[Bloodshield]!"
"[Voodoo Incantation]!"
"[Fire Ball]!"
"[Ice Shield]!"
Multiple incantations and Qi Techniques were being unleashed, the Immortal Devil Sect disciples now had to overexert their Extraordinary Meridians in order to survive the onslaught of the 630 or so Qi Trainees.
Slowly but surely, the weak is being whittled out, until eventually, out of Ximen Wei's group, only 42 were remaining, 40 of them are Level 3 Qi Trainees, two Heaven Qi Trainees and 38 Earth Qi Trainees while 2 are Level 2 Qi Trainees, naturally they are Ximen Wei and Zeng Li!
In such a battle, having vast reserves of qi and energy are important key factors to survival! Obviously the amount of power and energy eight Extraordinary Meridians can provide is superb, and since Ximen Wei possesses an astonishing defensive Qi Technique such as [Iron Body], he would naturally and fight stay until the bitter end!
'No, I can't die like this!' Thought Ximen Wei, the Level 3 Qi Trainees joined in the fray, which made the tide wave of Qi Trainees harder. Obviously, the 30 or so Level 3 Qi Trainees of the Immortal Devil Sect took them on, however, now Ximen Wei, alongside Zeng Li and 10 other Level 3 Qi Trainees, had to take on the load of hundreds of Qi Trainees!
Ximen Wei's and Zeng Li's energy reserves are depleting at an alarming speed, they were only Level 2 Qi Trainees, it's already a miracle for them to have survived this long. If it weren't for [Iron Body] and [Bloodshield], both of them would've perished long ago.
"Am I going to die here?" Zeng Li murmured, his voice filled with an unyielding desire for life.
Ximen Wei slashed horizontally with his sword, thanks to [Devilish Paroxysm], he killed four Level 1 Qi Trainees and seriously injured a Level 2 Qi Trainee at one go! He was going wild with his sword, with every slash taking down quite a considerable number of his opponents. The same goes to Zeng Li, he was using a giant mace, which he swung everywhere, turning countless Level 1 Qi Trainees and even some Level 2 Qi Trainees into meatpaste.
However, compared to the power unleashed by the Level 3 Qi Trainees, Zeng Li and Ximen Wei, despite being evaluated as possessing Heaven-tier talent, would effortlessly at their hands. The Level 3 Qi Trainees of the Immortal Devil Sect were cutting down Level 2 Qi Trainees non-stop, as if they were cutting down grass, as for Level 1 Qi Trainees? The ripples coming from the Level 3 Qi Trainee's attack alone seriously damages them, sometimes even killing them!
"In five minutes we'll break down this shield, hang in there!" Demonfire's voice could be hearing coming from the nearby castle. Ximen Wei gritted his teeth and started overexerting his Extraordinary Meridians, the same thing could be said for Zeng Li.
"QI TECHNIQUE - [BLOODHAND]!!" A giant blood-colored hand, many times bigger than in the duel in the battle arena, materalized as it swept towards the incoming enemies, killing many Level 1 Qi Trainees and wildly injuring Level 2 Qi Trainees.
"QI TECHNIQUE - [BLOODSPIRIT]!!!" A sinister looking two-horned head appeared out nowhere, it hovered on the top of Ximen Wei's body before it exploded into a puff of gore and blood that rained down atop the countless bodies of the Song Families' elites.
A foul odor could be smelled as the corrosive properties spread out, killing many Qi Trainees, if it weren't for Ximen Wei's [Iron Body], the corrosive properties of [Bloodspirit] would have turned him into a puddle of black liquid.
The nearby Level 3 Qi Trainees were also super tired, they too were overexerting their Extraordinary Meridians, because the majority of the enemy's attacks were focused on them, they were Level 3 Qi Trainees after all! Only through sheer numbers would they be able to kill them.
Seeing that the situation is turning for the worse, Song Laohu cursed under his breath.
'Do I really have to use [Solarfire Dust]? Such a waste, such a waste.'
[Solarfire Dust] is an exceedingly rare material that is only found in the nine layers of heaven, a material such as [Solarfire Dust] could be used to smelt powerful Qi Artifacts of the sixth rank, naturally, it was desired by many Qi Paragons and powerhouses.
One of the properties of [Solarfire Dust] is that it is extremely, extremely hot, hotter than lava, just spraying a little bit of [Solarfire Dust] will be more than enough to melt the body of a Rank 2 Qi Expert, with a sufficient quantity, even Rank 3 and Rank 4 Qi Experts would die, thus only Qi Paragons were qualified to handle this sort of material.
Song Laohu was naturally carrying the [Solarfire Dust] on a space container treasure so he will avoid getting burnt.
"Tsk.. What a useless bunch, they can't even handle forty or so Qi Trainee." Seeing that more Rank 1 Qi Experts coming from the outside world, Song Laohu unhesitantly grabbed the bottle that holds the [Solarfire Dust], and sprayed it on the newcomers.
Without any prior warning whatsoever, the incoming two Rank 1 Qi Experts of the Immortal Devil Sect died miserably, their bodies were set on fire and were burnt into nothingness. The four Qi Experts fighting Song Laohu and the other five were naturally surprised, and instantly grew wary, they focused their attacks on Song Laohu, even going to the extent of letting the attacks of the other five land on their bodies.
"Hmph." Song Laohu harrumphed.
"CAREFUL!" Demonfire's voice could be heard coming from afar, but alas, it was too late. The four Rank 1 Qi Experts were sprayed by the [Solarfire Dust], turning into nothing but ash that drifted alongside the wind.
One of the miniature grains of the [Solarfire Dust] accidentally fell onto one of Song Laohu's comrades, transforming him into a humanoid figure made of fire.
"Fuck, that was too close." Chu Hua couldn't help but curse, he was too close to death. Four out of nine Rank 1 Qi Experts have died so far, the amount of mortal fighters to lost to Demonfire's voice attack? In the thousands! And the amount of Qi Trainees is in the hundreds!
The foundations of the Noble Families that belong to Green Lotus City were shook, however, as long as the Qi Experts stayed alive, it's all good.
"We can't stay here any longer, these old monsters will breakthrough the [Heavenlock Space Cage] anytime soon, quick, let's teleport out of here!"
The Rank 2 Qi Expet alongside the five patriarchs joined together and shattered a Jade Talisman, it was a teleportation talisman that teleported them to somewhere else, away from this place. Although their original goal was not accomplished, they killed six Qi Experts of the Immortal Devil Sect, that's more than enough!
Alas, they abandoned their former army of three thousand armored men, 500 Level 1 Qi Trainees, 100 Level 2 Qi Trainees and 30 Level 3 Qi Trainees. One of these 30 Level 3 Qi Trainees are the family heads of the various Noble Families, including Song Longwei.
They were supposed to be the commanders who will lead this majestic army of blood-forged men and Qi Cultivators, but their patriarchs ended up abandoning them instead.
Instantly, hell broke loose amongst their ranks, and the various family heads wore expressions of despair as they were slaughtered mercilessly by the Level 3 Qi Trainees of the Immortal Devil Sect.
Lonewitch was especially valiant, she killed more than 5 Level 3 Qi Trainees!
Shortly after, the various elders and leaders of the Immortal Devil Sect brokethrough the [Heavenlock Space Cage], and hurried over to the remaining outer-sect disciples. When Murong Xi saw that Ximen Wei was still barely alive, he heaved a sigh of relief, he looked at the two remaining Heaven Level 2 Qi Trainees and wondered how did they survive this affair.
"Damn it, they escaped." Meanwhile, Demonfire went to the location where the six fellas teleported away, trying to study the space fluctuations and figure out where did they go to.
"Murong, get here, can you figure out where did they go?" Demonfire called out for Elder Murong, when Elder Murong came, he performed some augury techniques, alas, the only thing he can deduce is that the five remaining attackers teleported away to Western Wen.
"Western Wen.. I'll make sure you pay the price for your trespass."
