"There must be a way to bring them back. We can't lose anyone else. I promised Tamlyn…" Willow turned to Lysander, the one who always seemed to be able to see the way forward when others could only see uncertainty and confusion. "Tell me I will be able to keep my promise…please."
Lysander glanced at Nicasi before he quietly walked to his brother's side. He placed his hand on top of Mallin's, then closed his eyes, hiding whatever thoughts turned behind his winter-clear gaze.
"I will help you keep your promise." Rowan's voice cut through the silence that filled the room in the absence of Wren's advice.
And then he would keep the promises he'd made to Wren. That was the path forward. He didn't need someone to show him the way. He'd find it on his own.
Willow pressed her lips together and nodded. The door opened, and Kit ran inside, pausing briefly to take in Tamran's empty bed before wrapping their arms around Willow.
It's always fun for me to put everyone in a scene together and see what comes out of their mouths. I just wish it was a happier occasion.
