Wren was completely drenched by the sudden downpour in the short time it took him to retrieve the Caissa set. He ran through the patio door with the wind at his back, wet clothing plastered to his skin.
Rowan hurried to close the doors behind him, catching a spray of rain in his face. While Wren stood there dripping on the floor, Rowan quickly closed the windows as well to stop the torrent from gusting inside.
Over the span of a few minutes, the sky had darkened to a greyish black, and the roiling mass of clouds now seemed low enough to touch. Wren's form was barely more than a silhouette in the dim light of their bedroom. Another streak of lighting flashed down, almost blinding in its brightness, followed by a crack of thunder so loud the glass rattled in the casings.
I couldn't resist sneaking in this last bit of fluff in this and the next part before other things have to start happening again. But don't forget I reserve my right to include fluff or maybe something a bit spicy with Nicasi and Lysander coming up soon.
