I stand at the end of the hall.
I can't believe it. Now, I am the reigning monarch of Luna.
I remember taking my oath. How I promised I would lead with openness, restraint, and clarity of my purpose. All of which cumulated into the crown on my head.
The design is beautiful. Azure gentians, golden peonies, blush lotuses, scarlet roses, and peach plum blossoms.
Each of the flowers describes what the ruler of Luna is supposed to be.
Victorious in their conquests, honorable in their words, pure in heart, brave in soul, and perseverant in the face of difficulty.
I will need these flowers to spend my days well when I'm on the throne. After all, who knows what would happen if I didn't have a consistent reminder of the burden I carry?
There have been countless rulers who had been overconfident in themselves. Look where they've ended up now? In a ditch with other insignificant and nameless people.
I won't let myself become that. The people of Luna deserve better than that.
I promised to be better than that. So I will be.
I must be.
Otherwise, I have no business calling myself the Queen of Luna.
" My Queen."
The guard stands at attention when I turn to him. He seems intimidated by me. But that's ridiculous. I'm at least ten years younger than him, and he has never spoken out of line. I don't see why he has to be afraid.
"Yes?''
"The officials are awaiting your first orders."
I take a deep breath, knowing that this would be the moment in which my life would change forever. The first orders I make as queen will solidify my place in history.
