27.27% Solo Leveling In Yggdrasil / Chapter 3: The Tutorial

Capítulo 3: The Tutorial

A/N:- I have read a lot of Overlord fanfics. Almost none of them go over the mechanics of the tutorial or the importance of exploring deeply tied to the game and skip over them and give their MC a rich background who spends their money like a madman without a care in the world about their family and get Divine or hidden classes like pollution in the Overlord verse in the first few chapters!

It's absurd! I also find it weird to think that the devs of Yggdrasil won't hide hidden rewards in plain sight.

It's a game about exploration! And don't let me get started on the mechanics they aren't even there most of the time! I have tried to write the mechanics as closely to the source material as possible and man it isn't easy. The Wiki is too confusing for me.

I had to watch a ton of explanations to get all this information. I also had to simplify a lot of it so it doesn't take a whole chapter for just a single stat or race to be explained properly.

It took a while to fetch all the necessary information and I had to do all this during my final exams as you can guess that took a while. I am so sorry for not uploading chapters! Thank you for supporting and motivating me and I hope you enjoy this chapter!

===============================

{Welcome to Yggdrasil! The world's most game. In the world of Yggdrasil you as the player are free to explore its mysteries on your own or with your group. You will be given freedom greater than any game out there. There is--}

"Skip this"

{>Skipping>}

{Do you want to skip the main story?}

{[Y/N]}

I guess I should, there may be hidden puzzles or classes that might require the knowledge of the LORE of Yggdrasil.

{[>Yes<]}

At the start there was.....

=======================

//After Some Time //(I am not writing this. It's common knowledge.)

{And you as the player are tasked to get stronger and save the Tree of Life from the Devorour Of Worlds!} Finally said the narrator's voice.

{Now, that you know the story of Yggdrasil!}

{Do you want to go through the tutorial?}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

===============================

I was transported to a forest, that had pretty tall trees and was lush green. There was soft background music playing in the background.

I had a waterfall to my left and there was an untrodden path leading deeper into the jungle to my right. Looking at my body I concluded that I was a human.

{Welcome Player! Before you begin your adventure you have to know the basics! First, move around and get a feel for your new body!}

I did just that, kicked and, punched the air a few times, getting used to the movements. Then after a while, a skeleton suddenly crawled out of the ground z 5 meters ahead of me.

The skeleton was about 6 feet tall with a somewhat menacing appearance. It had dirt and grime stuck to its bones. It wielded a rusty and worn-out double-edged sword. It's an empty eye seemingly staring into emptiness. It had a particularly sharp-looking chin.

{You can appraise any monster or player with the help of [Appraise] skill! Try it out on the skeleton!}

I relaxed my body and did as instructed.

//------STATUS------//

Level:- 1

Race:- Skeleton Warrior

HP:- 15/15

MP:- 5/5

Job:- Skletal Warrior Dummy

Job Level:- Skeletal Warrior[1]

Alignment:- Netural~Evil

Skills:- [Slash], [Deflect]

//---------END---------//

{Now let's tell you the meaning of all you see here!

 [Level]:- It represents the level of your enemy, mobs and NPCs can't hide it. (but players might be able to do so)

[Race]:- It represents the race of a being. The race of a being affects many things like the effects of spells, items, effects of different environments, etc.

[HP]:- It represents the health or the life force of the being when it reaches zero the said being dies.

[MP]:- It represents the amount of mana or magic the said creature holds. All spells, certain items, and skills require mana to use.

[Job]:- It tells you the duty of the creature in the world of Yggdrasil like a guardian's duty is to protect something and so on. In a player's case the guild they represent and their status in the said guild.

[Job Level]:- It represents the number of levels a creature has assigned to their particular job, commonly called their class. The more levels a being has assigned to the class the more skills and spells they would have. The amount of Jobs you can have depends on your race. There are two types of classes but you will learn about them later.

[Alignment]:- Also known as karma, it represents the nature of a being. Depending on how high or low one's karma values are, it can determine the power output of skills, items, spells, etc.

[Skills]:- It represents the number of skills a being has monsters can hide it ( players also can)}

{That is the basic introduction of these terms they are way more complicated and affect more than the output of skills, the danger level of a being, etc. but that's for you to figure out in the future}

I am surprised by the complicated system of this game and it's telling me it's even more complicated, I will have to do a lot of testing later won't I?

Shaking me out of my thoughts a new notification appeared.

{Now you have all the basic information it's time to test your skills in a battle!}

The empty eye sockets of the skeleton suddenly sprang to life as a dim red fire appeared in them. It looked around and then finally spotted me. It got in a stance, even without flesh and organs it seemed agile ready for a fight. It looked like a formidable opponent, even though it was a tutorial enemy.

I followed suit and also got into a boxing stance. Many people may not know this but certain DVR fighting games sometimes help to develop combat styles that work even in real life. After playing games for such a long time, I have developed a unique boxing style of my own.

 After a silent acknowledgment, the battle began. The skeleton quickly ran at me and swung its sword at me, I quickly Dark Soules doge rolled out of the way. I retaliated with my punches and kicks. It got hit and the [HP] bar above its head decreased.

[-5HP]

It did a decent amount of damage. Probably because it was a blunt attack and it does more damage to skeletons.

*SWOOSH*

It swung its sword at me while I was distracted by my thoughts but I managed to dodge it last minute barely and made some distance between us.

'FEW! That was close! Focus Jin-Woo, focus. Looks closely at its movements.

It pulled its arm holding the sword back and threw it at me.

*SWOOSH*

My body moved on instinct and dogged it.

"God! Who had the bright idea to program a warrior to throw their sword? Doesn't it go against the warrior's code or something?"

Seeing it has lost its sword it is just a bag of bones without its sword. I charged it and rammed it.

[-2HP]

It tried to block and deflect my attacks, but I was too quick and experienced and landed multiple hits. The skeleton stumbled back and tried to regain its balance.

I saw my chance and started barraging it with my punches. (Insert JOJO meme here)

[-3HP]

[-3HP]

*BAM*

[-2HP]

With that last punch, I shattered the skeleton's skull ending the battle.

"That was a strong monster for a mere tutorial dummy."

{Congralatuations! Player you have killed the skeleton! You have earned 50EXp! You will now learn how to use magic!}

{Choose one of the following spells}

===============================

[Fireball]:- Shoot a ball of fire at the target also dealing 2% additional fire damage and have a 5% chance to apply the [Burn] debuff for 5 seconds.

[IceBolt]:- Shoot a bolt of lightning imbued with the properties of ice also deals 2% additional ice damage and has a 2% chance to apply the [Freeze] or [Paralysis] debuff for 3 seconds.

[Earth Bind]:- Bind the target using the earth beneath them for 15 seconds.

===============================

Looking at all the options I started to ponder over all the benefits of each of them. I choose [Earth Bind] because it's the easiest to use and isn't complicated. It would be easy to understand with this spell at the start.

{Amazing choice!}

{Now practice it on the skeleton in front of you by shouting the spell name!}

A new skeleton appeared in front of me. I used my newly acquired spell on it.

"[Earth Bind]!"

As I said that I felt something drain from me, and then a hand made of stone grabbed the skeleton immobilizing it. I rushed at him and started punching and kicking him nonstop.

[-3HP]

[-5HP(Crit)]

[-2HP]

[-2HP]

[-1HP]

[-1HP]

{You have slain the undead [Skeletal Warrior]! You have earned 50EXp!}

{You have Leveled Up!}

{ You see when you defeat enemies or do quests you gain Exp (It will be later displayed in your status after character creation) you level up and gain skill points(Varies on race) that can be used to strengthen skills and status!}

===============================

//AFTER REACHING THE END OF THE TUTORIAL//

As the tutorial progressed it led me down the untrodden path deeper into the heart of the forest where the rest of the tutorial unfolded. I learned a bit about quests, items, etc, and their uses. In total, it took about 40 to 50 minutes.

{You have completed the [Tutorial] would you like to leave this area?}

{[Y/N]}

{[>No<]}

I didn't want to leave just yet. This game heavily specified that it was about exploration and discovering mysteries. So I will explore a bit and take my time doing so that I don't miss anything.

I reached the waterfall after a while I had traveled a great distance from my initial spawning area. After I reached it I looked more carefully at it.

[PICTURE HERE]

It looked exactly the type of waterfall that has hidden locations or treasures behind it. I stepped into the water and waded through the water towards it. As I got closer the noise of the waterfall grew louder until it was the only thing I could hear.

*SPLASH*SPLASH*

After I was in front of it, I couldn't hear anything else not even the background music.

I said my prayers and went inside it. On the other side of the waterfall, the place seemed ancient and abandoned covered with spiderwebs and moss almost everywhere. There was a stairway leading to an elevated area with a single chest on top of it. I carefully climbed them and reached the chest.

After taking a closer look at the platform seemed to have strange runes carved into it.

'Probaally to look cool I guess. I should open the chest' I thought

After arriving in front of it I opened it and the air humed with energy and the entire place sprang to life. The runes started glowing and formed some magic circles. Then a notification appeared.

{Congratulations Player! You are the first to discover this hidden location and as a first-time finding condition, your reward has been upgraded to a hidden Quest.}

{Quest:- A ((^*&^^%*))'s inheritance! [1/2] In Progress}

{You are a true explorer! But you must still prove your worth by completing this quest to obtain the inheritance of the LEGENDARYC &^%$@/\. But to find this place you have gotten the [Sigil Of Holy Fire]!

{Condition:- Find the hidden piece.}

{Reward:- The inheritance of the LEGENDARY &^%$@/\.}

-------------------------------------------

{[Sigil Of Holy Fire]}

{Rank:- Legendary} (Incomplete)

 {Effects:- Increases the regeneration speed of both [Mana] and [HP] by 30%. It also decreases the amount of damage received from fire and holy spells by 20% additionally making the bearer immune to [Burn] debuff.}

----------------------------------------------

That's amazing! I knew wasting my time here would be worth it! I already have a powerful-looking inheritance! I will get stronger than I imagined with this!

 ===============================

The tutorial took about 49-50 minutes, and I got the general gist of the necessary information and a 0P starting item I decided to leave the tutorial and start my character creation.

{Do you want to play the tutorial again?}

{[Y/N]}

{[>No<]}

{Do you want to begin Character Creation/Customization?}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

Then I was teleported to a a lively-looking room. The room was made of wood and cobblestone with many arches supporting its room.

There were four tables with many types of dishes on top of them along with lit candles. Different types of shields hung from the walls.

[IMAGE HERE]

Chandeliers were hanging from the ceiling, and there were two rows of stairs leading to an elevated area with a throne between two torches.

I got a little curious and started examining the place and after a while of knocking on walls and displacing shields, I made my way up to the throne and as a last-ditch attempt pulled the torches like levers.

To my astonishment, it opened a passageway way I quickly entered it and walked along until I reached what looked like a parcore area. I went ahead and carefully completed it. I continued along the narrow path and it eventually got too small for me to continue.

I started thinking about what I could do. Then I remembered that I was still using the default human character! I quickly switched from a 6-foot [High Human]to a smaller-sized [Dwarf] and continued.

I encountered multiple similar puzzles that required me to change my race multiple times to continue ahead.

After completing the previous challenge that required me to switch to [Merman], I entered a white room with a single chest. I approached the chest and carefully opened it, but suddenly a bright golden light burst out, momentarily blinding me. Once my vision returned, I saw that a new title and skill had been unlocked for me.

{You are the FIRST player to have completed this hidden quest! You have the spirit and talent needed to explore the mysteries of Yggdrasil! The WORLD TREE seeing this has decided to award you!}

{The Title:- [The First] and Skill:- [Explorers Intitution] have been acquired!}

{Title [The First]:- Increases the drop rates of rarer loot during first-time quest or dungeon completion.

[Explorer's Intitution]:- Allow the user to vaguely gauge the threat level of a dungeon compared to the user's current level.}

{Seeing that you-%^#*^!$#*^!$ }

The world around me started to glitch.

"Huh? What's happening!?!"

{ERROR0001001001 Dected! Fixing! Please wait!}

{Inteference form unknown source dect&$^%#^$#$75Y^&^&$#^^&#%%@^%}

{Transferring the WORLD item [Brightest Shard] into the player's inventory!}

{[Brighest Shard]}

{Rank:- WORLD}

{Effects:- Increases the amount of damage, buff, and debuffs of light and holy spells by 40% Reduces the damage received, debuff duration, and increases buff effectiveness from light, and holy spells. Something incredible may happen to the user when the right conditions are met.

{Good:] luck player!)}

======================

After receiving the reward, I was transported back to the main character customization room where I took some time to reflect on the rewards I had received. From what I know 'World' items are the most powerful items, are very rare and difficult to find.

It probally got it from that omnipotent guy. Thinking that I continued with my character creation.

{Please enter your in-game name

{WARNING! It will be visible to every player so PLEASE don't use your real name!}

{[________________]}

After pondering about it for a while I choose

{[-Nix Ashborn-]} {[Not Taken]}

After giving it some thought, I decided to go with -NixAshborn- as my name. Nix is a cool name I found online during my free time, and I think it sounds pretty cool too. While Ashburn for the fact that I will become his successor and inherit his legacy.

{Confirm name? Warning your name cannot be changed later!}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

{Great name!}

{Please Choose One Of The Following Races}

{[Human]:- A race with a humanoid appearance. It provides the player with a flexible and wide range of job classes. however, they can't get racial classes, they make up for it with their greater amount of job classes. Eg:- |•Light Elf•|•Dark Elf• |•High Human•|...

}

Huh. I of course will choose the heteromorphic race! Even if I am going to be a target I would still have stronger stats and if what I know is true then I will be the strongest player in the whole game! So of course!

>[Hetromorphic]<

{Select [Hetromorphic] Race}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

[Hetromorphic Races] available...

Not this, no, not that either, nor this.., Yes! Here it is finally I thought it would take forever to find this!

{[Angel]}

{See Description?}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

{Description:- A race of heteromorphic beings created by the InfiniteL1E%^&$%$$%(=)Absolute Being.

Their specialty is granting blessings and possessing high magical and physical capabilities. All Angels are natural-born fighters, holding justice and virtues to their highest.

Their commands can change the tide of any battle. Most Angels lack any facial features or at most feature doll-like facial features which depend on the type of Angels and their classes.

Later they may be able to change into a more humanoid form. They resemble brilliant and winged humanoids, who are stoic and silent, and decorated in shining armor as well as religious robes depending on their rank and [Class].

The common trait they all seem to share is the ability to bring a wave of hope and strength to their allies. They take worshipping their very seriously $%^$547554 Before their betrayal*&(&*)799992ERROR

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes]<}

Then a preview screen appeared in front of me. it displayed my character and it looked exactly like it was described.

{Do you want to buy [VIP Custimization Pack] to modify your It's, immediately respectable character look?}

"What does it do?"

{VP Customization Pack}

{Effects:- Allows the player greater freedom to customize their character to their liking at a low cost of 1500 W}

The developers of this game are very shameless already offering in-game purchases. I did what any respectiable gamer would do and immeadiatly bought it.

=============================

//AFTER WASTING TOO MUCH TIME//

After spending more time than I would have liked, I finished it. I finished the looks of my character, this is what it looked like.

[IMAGE HERE]

 I like how it turned out. It was a reflection of the creativeness of the great me, with such a stunning design of my character out of the way I continued.

{Please select one of these three classes for your start!}

{[Angelic Warrior]:- This class allows the player to use the holy and light elements to strengthen the player's defense and offense to defend and attack others. Expand to know more.

"Expand the description of [Angelic Warrior]"

{[Angelic Warrior]- The [Angelic Warrior] class can be a great choice for players who prefer a more defensive and offensive playstyle.

This class allows the player to use the holy and light elements to strengthen their defense and offense, making them a formidable force in battle.

With skills like [Holy Armour], [Holy Enhancement], [Heaven Slicer], and [Light Claw], players can easily defend and attack others.

Moreover, the class offers the opportunity to unlock more skills after strengthening them, providing even more diversity in gameplay.

If you enjoy a challenging yet rewarding gaming experience, the [Angelic Warrior] class could be the right choice for you.}

Hmmm...I think I should go for [Angelic Warrior] as it provides a strong defense and offense which will help me greatly in the early game. Not to mention it would not be as complicated as a spell orianted mage class.

{Select [Angelic Warrior] as your class.}

{[Y/N]}

{[>Yes<]}

{Great choice! Now that you have finished your!Character Creation! Now it is time for you to select your starting point! However since you have choosen a [Heteromorphic] race certain worlds would not be recommended as it will be disadvantageous for the player. Its not reccommended to start in those worlds.}

{Please select your world}

[Asgard] (Not Recomended)

[Álfheim] (Not Recomended)

[Vanaheim] (Not Recomended)

[Niðavellir] (Not Recomended)

[Midgard] (Not Recomended)

[Jötunheim] (Not Recomended)

[Niflheim]

[Helhime]

{[Múspellsheim]}

Well that really shortens the list, I guess since Isince I am an[Angel] I will choose-

"{Important call dected! The individual "Lil Sis" is contacting you would you like to save your progress and quit?}"

{[Y/N]}

I was stunned by the sudden call but quickly replied positively.

{[>Yes<]}

===============================

Author Rant:-Man I am not kidding when I say it's complicated. I mean I am amazed at the world's complexity in which the main story doesn't even take place—props to the author of Overlord.

Can you provide your thoughts on the current story, including grammar, pacing, and ideas for special events in-game Yggdrasil? Also, how should the MC behave with his new family?

Any ideas for future classes? Ways to improve my writing?

What 'World' do you think will the MC choose? If you guess correctly I will make a supporting character with your name.

Peace out ✌️ ☮️.
