Chapter 9

Lorenzo's POV

As I stood there, frozen in shock, my eyes locked onto the lady standing in front of me, my heart raced as memories from last night came flashing back.

What's she doing here? She is definitely Ella, my bride-to-be. What was she doing at the club? And how could she have gotten there? Is she...? Oh my God! Am I getting married to a whore? No, I refuse to think that.

"Ella, come on," a voice said.

"So Mr. Lorenzo, this is my daughter Ella," Marco, her father said

As I gazed at her, my mind was a jumble of conflicting emotions; confusion swirled around me as I struggled to reconcile the Ella standing in front of me with the one I had spent the night with.

I wondered what kind of life she must have had to be driven to such desperation. Wasn't she properly taken care of?

"What kind of father does that?" I thought to myself, my disgust and outrage simmering just below the surface. I glanced at Marco, my eyes narrowing as I thought about how power-hungry he must be to treat his daughter like this.

"Please sign here, sir," a voice said. I took the pen and signed. Ella was asked to do the same, and she did so without hesitation.

I turned my gaze back to her, my gaze searching for answers, but her eyes were downcast, her face pale and pinched. I could sense the shame and embarrassment emanating from her, and this only fueled the anger in me.

I finally broke the silence, easing the tension between myself and Ella. "Okay, we are done here; Damian, let's go," I said, signaling the end, and the urge to leave.

Marco's voice stopped us. "Mr. Lorenzo, I'm yet to receive the money," Marco said hastily.

I turned back to him, my gaze meeting Ella's for a brief moment. I could see the disappointment in her eyes, the realization she had just been sold and her father didn't even care about what happened to her.

"Ten million?" I asked, "Damien will send it now," my voice cold.

I turned back to Ella, my eyes locking into hers. "Let's go," I said, my voice firm, hiding the emotions I felt.

Her gaze met mine, and for a moment I couldn't read the emotions in her eyes, but then I saw a flash of rage, disappointment, and anger.

"Okay," she responded. Her voice barely above a whisper

As we walked through the door, another voice stopped us, "Hey, Ella. Wait," the voice wailed, the voice dripping with false concern.

Confusion was written over Ella's face as she stopped, the lady walked towards her with a smug smile; she hugged Ella tightly and whispered something in her ear. I didn't hear it, but Ella's reaction was clear; her eyes flashed with rage while the lady gave off a smug smile.

"Let's go," I said again, my voice firm but controlled.

I didn't want to escalate the situation, and also I didn't want to be delayed further.

Ella's eyes, which were once filled with rage, fell on me, but this time they were replaced with calmness and submission.

She nodded, "Okay."

As we walked out of the mansion, I couldn't help but wonder what secrets Ella was hiding and what the lady had whispered to her.

Ella's POV

Hearing Alessa call out my name in a concerned voice made my heart quiver in confusion.

She walked towards me, hugged me, and whispered in my ear.

"I hope you die just like the other ladies," she whispered, pulling away from me, her lips curved in a broad smile.

I wasn't expecting anything good from her, but death?! That was far worse than what I would wish on my enemy.

Thankfully, Lorenzo's voice came in handy. "Let's go," he said.

For some reason, I felt happy I was leaving this hell called home.

"Okay," I nodded.

As we entered the car, the tension between us was palpable. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. His presence was oppressive, a constant reminder I was doomed. I turned my gaze out the window, trying to escape the tension that filled the air.

Memories of last night came reeling back in my mind. How could I have given myself to him? I felt a lump form in my throat as I thought about the choices I had made.

Thinking about it, he is nothing compared to the rumors; he was kind last night and gentle with his words, touch, and strokes. Oh fuck! The strokes.

The gentle motion of the car rocked me into a state of numbness. My eyelids grew heavy, my head resting on the car window as the world outside began to fade away. The last thing I heard was the soft hum of the engine and the warmth of the sun on my skin.

I reached out with my hands, feeling the softness beneath me. Wait a minute… Is the car seat this soft? I mean, I know Lorenzo's car is luxurious, but this was incredible. It felt like I was sinking into a cloud.

I stretched my hand to the side, feeling the softness envelop me. It was then it hit me; I wasn't in a car. I was on a bed. A bed?!

I jolted upright, my eyes flying open as I gasped for air. Where is this? I looked around frantically, my mind foggy and disoriented, taking in the luxurious bedroom. The walls were painted a soft, warm beige. The laced curtains draped elegantly. The bedding was a sumptuous ensemble of crisp, white linens, soft, silk blankets, and a delicate duvet.

I scanned the empty room, the soft golden lighting, and the gentle glow of candles. Candles? Is he planning to sacrifice me?

I threw off the covers and got out of bed. My bare feet sank into the plush carpet. I cautiously approached the door, my heart pounding in my chest. I slowly turned the handle and opened the door, peeping out into the hallway.

And what I saw left me speechless. The rumors were right; today is my last day on earth.
