Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, painting the walls in soft, golden hues.
Zoe sat at the small breakfast table, her plate piled high with fluffy pancakes that seemed to glow under the drizzle of syrup.
Opposite her, Snacks perched on a chair, his battle-sized form a little too large for the furniture but somehow fitting in perfectly.
His haunches rested on the seat, his wings tucked neatly against his back, and his tail curled around the chair's leg to keep it from tipping over.
Snacks held a fork in one clawed hand, deftly cutting into the stack of pancakes with surprising precision.
His other hand worked the fork to spear a bite, which he popped into his mouth with the grace of someone who had clearly mastered the art of dining.
Zoe smirked at the sight, shaking her head at the dragon's surprising dexterity. "You're making me look bad."

Zanden This chapter delves deeper into Zoe’s evolving role as the bridge between her team and the unknowns of the Loom’s magic. The morning breakfast scene was a chance to show the team’s humanity (and Snacks’ adorable quirks) before transitioning into the more serious, charged atmosphere of Nexus #1178. I wanted to create a sense of unease as they stepped into the portal, balancing camaraderie with tension, and foreshadow the challenges ahead. This is a pivotal moment for the team as they edge closer to unraveling the Loom’s mysteries.
