Capítulo 112: Chapter 112

Startled at the sound that came out of her, Neivayka reached up and touched her mouth. She knew she had spoken, but what had come out was a sweet melodic song, not words. But she had understood the song, anyway. After all this time, she recognized the language. It was the language of her people, or rather her mother’s people. She hoped desperately when she finally got back to the shore, she would be able to understand it still. That wasn’t something she wanted to lose after she became human once more.

She looked down at the tiny animal and found it had gone still and was staring at her, its eyes widen even further.

“Come here,” she coaxed again, swimming closer.

The animal didn’t move; it stayed stone still, almost as if it was afraid to move. Disturbed, Neivayka tried to lower her voice worried that she was terrifying it.

“It’s okay, sweetie. I’m not gonna hurt you,” she hummed.
