Capítulo 1: The Boy On A Ledge
It was a long drop. A very long drop. I could feel vertigo filling my head and making me drowsy. Just staring down from this ledge would make anyone feel like jumping off. It was like that cookie jar kept at the top of your mother's cabinet. Don't touch it. Don't touch it. Touch me, please.
"That's a pretty far fall. You gonna jump?"
Damian turned to the left in shock as he heard the sudden voice! He stumbled slightly and the girl there chuckled when he almost fell over! He just managed to catch himself and looked at her again! Who the hell are you?
"Be careful. If you jump without wanting to, then the death isn't really worth it. This might be a hospital but I don't think they can patch you up when you go splat on the floor,"
Damian swallowed and blinked down at the ground below. What she just said resonated with him. Did he want to jump? Did he want to go splat on the floor? It was a pretty far fall. Just one step and he would fall over. The girls hummed as she rest her chin on the ledge! She seemed so calm! Like there wasn't someone trying to commit suicide right next to her!
"I really wish I had your courage. I wonder what it will be like to die,"
Damian turned to her again as she said this. She was making no sense. Why would she want to know what it was like to die? It's empty and dark. Damian didn't believe in the afterlife. He didn't believe in the church and he didn't believe in heaven. He only believed that after all of this, he wanted to rest.
"Who are you?"
Damian finally decided to ask and the girl only grinned at him. She has blonde hair that flowed with the wind and blue eyes that were narrowed mischievously. For some reason, Damian could tell that she was a very free spirit. They were standing on top of a hospital. The largest hospital in the city. Damian was here visiting his sick mother today when he got the news that she was dead. It has been two years since she got sick and he always thought that she would get better. He didn't have anyone else, after all. If he didn't have her then there isn't anything left for him.
After hearing she was dead, he didn't feel sad. He didn't feel angry or annoyed. He knew she was dying and he knew it was only a matter of time before she kicked the bucket. Instead, he felt lonely.
"You don't look like someone that wants to die. If you wanted to die, then there would surely be a fire in your eyes! You'll know that you were going and you would accept it! The only thing that you would be able to think about is the feeling of your bones breaking and your guts spilling on the ground! Your very essence would shout 'I am Here!!!'"
It was the stupidest thing that Damian had ever heard in his life but for some reason, he could stop himself from laughing as she suddenly rose her hands and pointed to the sky while shouting 'i am here!!!".
It didn't take too long before the girl also joined him and the two of them were just laughing their asses off.
A boy on a ledge, and a girl with a free spirit. This was the first day that Damian met her. It was the first time he met Lucy.

Lucy was a mystery to him. She never spoke about herself and Damian noticed she didn't wear a school uniform. Was she at the hospital to visit someone? Was she a patient there? He didn't know if she went to school and he never asked her. He just thought it would be too much of a bother.
Damian started to get some support from the government since he was still a minor. He had to work extra jobs on the side to provide for himself as well, but all in all, he was fairly okay. At school, he was always given a wide berth by most of the other students. He didn't blame them. He was quite gloomy and he never smiled. Even when he was once confessed to by another student, he refused her brutally. The thought of romance and love was never something he bothered to care about and the fact that someone was asking him to be their partner just a few days after his mother died pissed him off.
The second time Damian met Lucy was behind an alley. No, they weren't there together. They just... Ran into each other.
"What the hell do you think you are huh!? So she asked you out and you just refused her like that! You think you're some sort of hotshot!?"
Slam!
A hand slammed into Damian's cheek courtesy of the bully that was trying his best to hurt him! The bully was a rather big boy. Apparently, the girl that Damian refused was his sister and she ended up crying to him about what happened. The bully called on some members of his crew and that was how they ended up there. Damien might have been a fit boy, but against three other people that were bigger than him, he stood no chance!
He was on the floor as the three of them took their time to stomp on him properly! His face was still expressionless and he just put his hand over his head and curled in on himself while waiting for them to finish their bullshit. They were just like animals. They'll come and shout for a while and then they'll go. It was nothing new to him.
"Super Smash Kick!!!"
"Buwahhhh!!!!"
But all of a sudden, a girl-sized meteor performed one of the most beautiful flying kicks ever seen as she slammed her heel into the stomach of the biggest guy there! The boy didn't expect it as he was sent falling straight to the ground! The other two boys were so shocked by what they saw that they stopped kicking Damian and looked between their boss and the girl!
Lucy grinned at them as she stood between Damian and the three of them and declared!
"If you think you can beat up someone then come here! I'll teach you a lesson that you've never learned before!"
The two boys were debating whether they should just beat her up or not but they finally decided that they would take their boss to the hospital first. He still hadn't stood up! Once they were gone, she turned around to Damian and used her thumb to flick the side of her nose! How about that!?
Damian sat up and blinked up at her curiously as she made a pose and declared!
"I just saved your life! You better thank me!"
"I can see up your skirt,"
"Ahh! You idiot!"
That was the second time Damian met Lucy. A boy stuck to the ground, and a girl floating in the air.
