Capítulo 62: A Family's Grim Past
"This guy is this strong? And he does not seem as exhausted as I am. If things keep going like this, I will lose." Lin created a sphere with flames to protect himself and shot out of the lava. He clutched his ribs as he struggled to keep himself above the lava sea.
His opponent flew before him and mocked, "You can not even use your abilities properly, yet you think you can defeat me? In this pathetic state? Don't make me laugh. With how clumsy you are, I can tell you have not had your abilities long enough to develop it properly."
"Everything about you, from your powers to your combat ability, is just a joke. How did you stay under our radar with these pathetic skills you have? You were probably so focused on increasing your rank that you did not even think about training your body properly."
"Are you really a member of that family? How pathetic can you be?"
On the receiving end, Lin quietly watched the man as he used the time to recover a little. "He is right. After gaining my ability, I was so swept up in the moment that I went on without thinking about training my body. Having a strong ability with a weak body will only become a burden to you the higher up you go since your body won't be able to handle your strong ability and would be strained."
"Though the stronger your rank, the tougher your body, that does not mean anything without training. Strength, speed, stamina, and agility increase when you get stronger. If you do not train to assimilate properly with those, you will not make it far in this world. It is like putting a super engine in an old rusty car. If you do not reinforce and tune the car to handle the engine, the car will break soon. I know, alright? Looks like I have been slacking too much."
Lin sighed and asked the man, "Hey, you keep mentioning I belong to some family; how did you figure that out?" Lin thought he could use the opportunity to glean some information from the man now that he had the chance.
"Huh!? You bear their symbol, and yet you don't know? I don't know if you are messing with me or being serious right now." The man looked at him dumbfounded.
"As I thought. He figured it out after seeing the symbol on my drape. Now that I think about it, Reiko never mentioned the family's name. He just kept saying that family. There must be a reason for that. I should find out." Lin shook his head and replied, "I am serious, alright? Also, you keep saying that family all the time. Are you so scared of them you can't even mention their name?" Lin provoked.
"Scared? Don't make me laugh." The man's power erupted as a strong wind surrounded him. Lin was blown back by the wind and had to use his flames to prevent himself from falling into the lava. He launched at Lin and created wind blades and launched them at Lin. "That family doomed us all, you little s@#$. They experimented on people, tortured them, and turned them into monsters. Entire territories, for goodness sake. We are the results of their experiment, and you think we are scared of them?"
Reiko's attack blew Lin away, and several wind blades slashed him from all sides. He could not defend against the attack. It came from all angles and passed through his flame wall like nothing. Lin gritted his teeth as he withdrew further from the crazed man attacking him. "What the hell is this guy talking about? Experiment? Torture? What the hell is this?"
The man suddenly stopped attacking as his aura rose above his limit. It seemed like he was falling into a strange madness. "We would stop at nothing to wipe everyone related to that family from the face of the world. And we would destroy the world if that is what it takes to achieve that", he said and spun his staff so fast it began to suck in the air in the area.
Unable to get air, Lin began to suffocate as the man drew in all the air around.

"What? Possessed? This guy?" before Lin could ask the system anything, it responded.
<Target death is the only way to undo this possession>
"What? Ugh! I'm suffocating. I need to do something".
Lin gritted his teeth and dashed in. Most were confused as to why he did that, as any person in his situation would withdraw from the airless zone to catch their breath.
"Does this guy have a death wish?" Most wondered as they watched Lin, but what happened next caused them to gasp.
As Lin went in closer to the man while leaving his defences open at the mercy of the wind blades, he created a flame orb behind the man's head and caused it to explode. Though the man reacted instantly, he was unable to avoid the explosion. Using that brief opening, Lin unleashed more flame orbs and caused them to explode around the man. Slowly, he chipped at the man's stamina.
He appeared before the man and punched him back to the island. The man crushed to the island with a loud boom, raising a cloud of dust and debris. "I'm still not used to flying with my ability. Looks like I need more training than I think. I should end this before I take any more damage. I'm already at my wit's end."
The man struggled on the ground as the black flame latched on him and continued to burn even after the effort he put in to put it off. Lin shot towards him and created a large flame needle twice his size in the air. "Just die, you bastard!" Reiko roared and exploded from the ground, creating a strong wind around his staff.
The wind spun rapidly around the staff, making it look like a giant drill. He increased and compressed the air around the bo staff until it looked like a tornado twice his size. He threw it at Lin, who also threw his flame needle towards it. The two attacks collided and exploded.
The man's staff was snapped in two as a result. He coughed up blood as his enormous aura dwindled rapidly. An object tore through the dust and went through the man's heart. It dug into the ground as the man hanged on it. Lin landed near Reiko and said, "It's over."
The man grinned and said, "It would seem so; I will see you soon…" he trialled off, and his arms plopped to the ground.
"See me soon? That must be whoever possessed him. That means the person is in the bout too." Lin frowned and disappeared in a flash.
The spectators were stupefied. What they had just seen was something that hadn't happened for a long time in the history of Terasphere. Drak was the first to pull off something exceptional, but that was a long time ago. For someone else to replicate that same result with a similar rank was an event that shook Terasphere that day.
The story of the man who defeated a rank 20 Quint as a rank 17 Quint spread across the length and breadth of Terasphere. All the hegemons of Terasphere quickly sent out their scouts and informants to find information on the individual and recruit him as soon as possible. With strength as such, any organization that can successfully recruit him would have a bright future in Terasphere, with strength that will rival that of the great families of Terasphere. [the families that head the territories in Terasphere.]
This news, however, was not great news for some. Especially the family heads that had a bone to pick with Lin. One such family was the Tolkien family, who heads the Nibiru territory. A territory which was distant from most of the other territories in Terasphere. For them, their aim was to kill Lin by using any and every means possible.
