Serene's POV
"Dancing now? I am out. I am famished so I am going to get something to eat." Zeph announced before heading towards the tables with food.
"Well, I am going to check if Alvene wants to dance." Ralph chuckled and we wished him good luck. Ayrden wanted to sit down for a while too so she headed for the chairs.
Dancing was my jam, in other words, I loved dancing. But, the only person I danced with was Zian. As kids, we used to dance together at parties, in school and even in the forest. At that very instant I missed him so much.
"Can I have the first dance?" I turned around to find Zilver standing there.
"Shouldn't you be dancing with Ziva?" I asked him curiously.
"Ziva doesn't like dancing, besides I need to talk to you. So, dance will be a perfect cover." Zilver replied.
I offered him my hand, and he took it and placed his other hand very lightly on my waist, keeping a fair amount of distance. We began to sway slowly with the rhythm of the song. "Serene, be wary of Lourden. Somehow you have gotten on the wrong side of her and she is very ruthless with people who get on the wrong side of her." He warned me slowly.
"But, I haven't said anything to her," I replied honestly.
"It doesn't matter to her. When she starts hating someone, she stops at nothing to humiliate that person or bring them down. You know I am a hybrid. My mother was a vampire and my father was a werewolf. My mother moved to Lycanus Realm after her marriage.
I have known Lourden since my childhood. She is the daughter of our Alpha from the northern region. She always wanted to be with me. But, I never felt anything towards her. She abused her power and tried to force herself on me many times. But, thankfully her father is an honourable Alpha. I spoke to him and he forbade her from making any move on me until we turned 18. She was so adamant that I was her mate.
But, the day we turned 18 and she realised that we were not mates she threw a huge tantrum. Figuring out that I haven't found my mate either she suggested we can get together and I could become the next Alpha. I had no intention of doing that. To get away from her I came here.
As soon as she came to know about it. She pleaded with her father to send her here as well. Her father took a promise from her that she will stop tormenting me and will not force me to become her mate, as that is a sacred bond and can't be forced. If, she didn't change her ways he will marry her to an omega. Of course, he was just bluffing and sent her here so that she might learn some manners. As policies of this institute are strict.
While she came here because of me, I, instantly found my mate in Ziva and she became even more bitter. As you know Alvene is the only Folkel in our class. She began bullying her, though Alvene is tough and didn't succumb in front of her. Sometimes she took things too far and Ziva and I had to step in. I told her father who came to take her back. But, she cried and apologized and promised to mend her ways.
But, you see the nature of a person is impossible to change. She changed her tactics and now she mostly operates from the shadows. She never touches anyone but her bullying hasn't stopped, just her style has changed. Tanzil is not a bad person but she is being manipulated by Lourden. Because Lourden gets satisfaction from others' torment. From what I have seen, you are her next target. Although, I will do everything in my power to protect you and I know you are a very strong girl and can take care of yourself. Still, be very wary of her and don't fall into her traps.
I, also believe Zeph is her new target. That little game she concocted today is the prime example of it."
Zilver narrated his life story to me as an unseen fear gripped me. I couldn't believe how many people she had made to suffer and now she knew I found Zeph attractive. She was going to use that to hurt me. I was sure of it.
"I knew she was trouble, but she has tormented you guys so much. I had no clue, I am sorry and I will be warier of her from now on." I felt uneasy and nervous. Zilver noticed that and began to tell me a joke to cheer up my mood.
Then we both saw it and I almost gaped. Zeph was dancing with Lourden. She was rather clinging to him like a leech. While he had his hands wrapped around her waist. I couldn't believe my eyes so I stopped dancing. Zilver let go of me quietly. He sensed my discomfort at seeing those two. A lot of other people were staring at them too.
But, Zeph seemed oblivious and all his eyes were fixed on Lourden and then they kissed. His hands were all over her body as she held his face. Their lips locked together passionately, heedless of the world around them.
A feeling of jealousy crept over me as I stood there watching them. I wanted to go ahead and separate them. Why was I feeling that way? It wasn't like he was my boyfriend or anything even closer. Why was I feeling so overwhelmed all of a sudden?
Ralph came running towards me and Zilver. Fear was evident on his face.
"Something is wrong with Zeph he would never kiss her in his right mind. Let alone like that. He is extremely shy when it comes to displaying his feelings for someone. He has never kissed a girl before." He said rather agitatedly.
"I will take care of this. Ralph take Zeph and go back once I stop the party. " Zilver told us before leaving. He went and stopped the music.
"Party is over everyone. Kindly, head back to your rooms. I didn't realize how late it has gotten." Zilver announced.
"What?"
"Already? But we just started to have fun." Everyone began to complain but he ignored them and told them to head back. Then he headed for Lourden. Who, finally stopped devouring Zeph's lips and looked at him with a smirk.
He said something in her ear and she left quietly leaving Zeph behind who looked confused as he kept staring at her. She looked back and sent him a flying kiss. Meanwhile, she glanced at me and gave me a devilish smile before turning her head back and walking away. Ralph headed towards him.
"What were you doing?" Ralph asked him curiously. "What? I was kissing Lourden. Isn't she gorgeous? Don't know why Zilver had to come to take her away." Zeph said in a confusing voice. He then placed his hand on his head and stumbled. Ralph grabbed him.
"I got you, let's head back," Ralph told him as he took him away.
Meanwhile, Ayrden had joined me. "What was all that about? It's very unlike Zeph." She whispered.
"I don't think he is in his senses. I think Lourden has done something to him." I replied seriously as she gasped at my words.
"Let's head back to our rooms." As we began to walk back Ayrden asked: "She gave him something to eat or drink."
"I don't know for sure, but I guess so," I answered.
( Meanwhile, Zilver was talking to Lourden inside the building. "What did you do, Zeph?" He asked her angrily.
"I didn't do anything, he was the one who came to me for a dance. He must have realised who the real queen was instead of hanging with the riffraff." She smirked at him.
"You do realise that using any potions or spells for any notorious reasons towards another student will get you expelled," Zilver told her, anger evident in his voice.
" Well, why don't you go ahead and prove it?" She moved closer to his face and stopped a few inches apart looking directly into his eyes and spoke again: "Besides, I am much more beautiful than that ugly hoe with whom he was spending all his evening, and guess what, she has a little crush on him. You should have seen her face when he kissed me. I bet you did, you were right there with her." And she laughed hysterically.
"I knew it. First, you were jealous of Alvene and Ziva and now you are jealous of Serene. Get hold of yourself before this jealousy consumes you. And, instead of forcing others to like or love you. Try to be a better person so they can fall in love with you of their own free will. You know what, I feel pity for you. But, I will not let you hurt Serene." Zilver spoke to her quietly.
"Whatever, I am not hurting anyone. I will just take whatever I want and it's Zeph that I want now. You, feel free to prove that I did something to him. But, you won't be able to." She touched his nose with her index finger before leaving him standing there.
She left the room while Ziva and Alvene came in. "Did you find out anything?" Ziva asked impatiently.
"As I had predicted she is jealous of Serene and thanks to her stupid game which we shouldn't have allowed her to play in the first place. She knows who likes whom now. So, she is going use that to hurt people." Zilver answered while grinding his teeth.
"That damn game was rigged to the teeth. Could you even believe Lourden winning and Tanzil winning over Serene?" Alvene replied angrily.
"Ladies, we have to protect Serene. I think she likes Zeph and Lourden is going to crush her heart. The look of bewilderment on Serene's face when Zeph kissed Lourden was very evident. But let's keep this between us and make sure Lourden doesn't trample on her heart too much." Zilver told them and they nodded in agreement before sighing.)
