Serene's POV
"To show my next ability, I will need another volunteer." I looked at my fellow novices. Ayrden stepped forward without any reluctance and came to stand by me. I went to my backpack and pulled out my bow. Standing at a distance of about 15 meters from Ayrden. I pointed my empty bow at her.
Everyone was looking at me with a confused expressions. "It won't hurt, I promise," I told her and took aim. A green coloured arrow began to form in the bow. "Arrow of joy and happiness" I mumbled and released it. It went straight and hit Ayrden in the belly. A few yelped with surprise while others were flabbergasted. Instead of crying out in pain, Ayrden began to smile and her eyes lit up with joy. "I feel so happy and I can't stop smiling, I can feel joy in my bones." She told everyone amidst smiles.
"I can project arrows based on feelings and abstract things. Joy, laughter, happiness, love, hatred, healing, pain, misery, sorrow, and so on. Every arrow has its unique colour and attribute. The effect of the arrow also varies according to my own feelings towards the intended person. If I am hitting an enemy who has hurt me or my comrades, the effect will be more severe than hitting someone unknown." I tried to explain my powers while all the novices looked flabbergasted.
"These are some very unique and interesting powers you have Serene but you have to use them wisely." Artins Sensei spoke up.
"Do you have an arrow of death in your arsenal as well?" Ziva asked.
"I have never tried to conjure it as I have never felt the need, so I am not sure if I can. It can only be conjured out of extreme malice or if I wish death on someone, which I don't." I explained.
"We will work on these in the next class and will see what else you can conjure because I believe your ability can extend a lot further than what you have so far. Let's go step by step." Artins Sensei explained.
I went back and joined the line, Ayrden whispered while turning towards me: " You have an impressive power, I was totally under your spell even though I am a witch." She laughed and I couldn't help but giggle with her.
It was almost lunchtime and after that, we had combat class.
"Don't forget, none of you is allowed to use your magic outside of training or classrooms. Anyone using their magic to harm their fellow novices or for any other nefarious purposes will be severely dealt with. Class dismissed, I will see you all tomorrow." Artins Sensei announced, Ziva was also wrapping up her notebook.
"Ayrden, you go ahead for lunch I will catch you in a short while. I need to discuss something with Artins Sensei." She nodded.
"Alright, I will save you some lunch. " She waved at me before leaving. I waited for everyone to leave before approaching Artins Sensei who was in deep conversation with Ziva.
"Sensei, can I talk to you in private?" I was reluctant. He looked at me curiously before turning to Ziva: "We will discuss it in the meeting, later." She nodded before leaving.
"Yes, what did you want to talk to me about?" He turned towards me giving me his full attention.
"I haven't told about this to anyone, not even my father so I will be highly obliged if you could keep this between us for now." I pleaded.
"Whatever we talk about will stay between us. You don't have to worry about that, speak freely." His eyes had suddenly become serious.
"Sensei, tomorrow we are going to the wall for our history lesson. Before, I came here something happened to me in Fae Realm when I visited the wall." I was a bit conscious.
"Don't be afraid, you can talk to me. Tell me what it is." He replied in a serious tone.
I narrated the whole incident that took place without leaving any details. The look of shock on his face was evident as he tried to grasp the details of my story.
"I have heard of incidents where the wall's powerful spell messed with people who tried to cross it or touch it. But, I have never heard of such a thing especially happening to someone of royalty. Although, I can think of a few reasons. I don't have all the answers right now because I need to think about it. Tomorrow, I will go with you to the wall and we will handle the situation. I will talk to Shumal, I am sure she won't mind." He reassured me and put his hand on my shoulder.
"Our students mean the world to us and protecting them is our top priority. You are my student and you are special because you are the first Fae I am gonna teach. I am glad you trusted me, Serene, you have nothing to worry about. I will be there with you every step of the way." His tone had softened.
"Thank you so much, Sensei." I was so relieved to finally talk about it. "Go, grab some lunch now. You will need your strength for the Combat class.
Sarim is not gonna go easy on you guys," and he actually smiled while saying it. "Yes, Sensei," I smiled back and then headed for the dining hall.
Everyone began to whisper again as I entered the hall. The news of my powers must have reached them by now as some of them looked at me with awe. I ignored them and found Ayrden sitting with Arlo. Well, that was strange but considering our group. Mikasim would hardly sit with us because of Tanzil. While Zeph had his best friend, Ralph, besides he disliked me for some unknown reasons.
I went and slipped into the seat right next to Ayrden. She had saved me a lot of lunch for which I was grateful because I was starving. There was mint flavoured drink, vegetable rice, salad, kebab, apple slices and a piece of chocolate cake.
"Thank you," I told her with gratitude and began to eat.
"So, the bitch princess can shoot arrows I heard?" Someone shouted from behind me. It was Lourden standing behind me with Tanzil. "Well, you must have used the love arrow to steal my boyfriend," Tanzil smirked at me.
"I did no such thing. We are forbidden from using our powers. The whole place has so many spells cast which instantly informs teachers if anyone uses magic." I couldn't believe how dumb they sounded.
"You better keep your distance from my boyfriend, I might be under a warning but I will not let you get away with it." She shouted, her eyes full of hate and she seemed to be on edge of losing control.
"Now now, no need to cause so much drama over petty issues. You are already under a warning. Move along now and take your seat." A boy with silver long hair and a tattoo on his face spoke from the table across us. He was sitting with Ziva and Alvene; who were both starring at Tanzil and her gang.
Tanzil shot one glance towards their table and backed off. I heaved a sigh of relief. This was getting ridiculous and out of hand.
"Keep your distance from Mikasim for a while. This will die down eventually and everyone will forget about it. People are considerably jealous of you so they need a reason to belittle you." Arlo spoke in a hushed but calm voice which took me by surprise. His red glowing eyes were fixated on me and his face showed no expressions whatsoever.
This was the first time he had spoken to me.
