“Oh my God, I can’t breathe,” Yolanda erupting in deep laughter to the point where tears streamed down her face. “Damn, I’m so sorry you managed to drop your drawers for Speedy McCready. Have you heard from him since?”

“Would you call me if you couldn’t keep it up for more than five minutes? No, I have not heard from him and don’t expect to either.”

As we entered Pitt County, our conversation turned to other things. I told her about the sheriff and she told me about this intern at her job that finished high school the same year she finished college.

“I don’t do younger men. Nothing would gall me more than mention something and he look at me like ‘what’s that’. I need my man to have seen New Jack Cityin the theatre not just on DVD.”
