Capítulo 23: Awaking the sleeper

The cold night hung above the lone village wrapped in darkness, a single building towered above the rest of the wooden huts. The windows of this building were boarded up keeping most light from escaping. Inside the building, a fight was raging on, a single Grimm and a single Faunus were playing a game of cat and mouse.

The whole room is full of the wire-like web making it hard for the Grimm to move around even if it seems to have some level of intelligence. The only Grimm I've seen that it looks like is a Grombie. While they look similar they don't have this much body control and intelligence so I'm unsure.

As my mind was racing the Grimm found a gap in my webs, using this opportunity to jump toward me. Raising my leg I send a kick towards the Grimm, moving out of the way it extends its arm to strike me so I rotate my body evading the strike.

Now standing right in front of me I start to weave in between the webs I have set up sending strikes out. The Grimm doesn't have the same mastery of fighting in this environment giving me the advantage as any strike it sends out could give me an opening to cut off its limb.

As if walking in the air I use the webs as platforms fighting at every angle, but the speed had made it hard for any of my attacks to have much strength in them. My aura took a hit with all the web I made in this room and the more time we fight the more this Grimm will break them.

How do I kill a Grimm that can regenerate from any attack I have sent so far, giving me little time to ponder things it keeps on charging me down like a mad man. Making web from my semblance I start piercing the Grimms body with every strike I get though, not without damage to myself.

My [Shroud] flares up blocking the damage sending me flying, while mid-air I twist my body landing onto the web that could have been my death. Each one of my fingertips now had webs attached to different parts of the Grimm.

Extending my fingers, the web now embedded into each part of the Grimms body is pulled tightly in different directions. The Grimm had each arm and leg being pulled away from the main body having no way of moving its head looking straight into the air.

Seeing it helpless I dash towards it ready to finish off immobilising the Grimm but before I could do so its jaw swung open as its cheeks ripped from the force of its jaw. The mouth now gaping open let out an echoing screech shattering the boarded-up windows, my head started spinning as I did my best not to fall over.

After the ringing in my ear had passed I looked towards the Grimm to see its body slowly withering away. Any sign of strength had disappeared as its body started to disappear into dust. I slowly walk towards it keeping my guard up as I haven't seen this type of Grimm before.

By the time it took for me to take a few steps the body had turned to dust the web that once held it in place with all the web in the room lost all strength and faded. As my web disappeared I didn't have too much aura left so I formed a thread of web to pull myself up.

As I pull myself out, the smell of death even in this harsh weather enters my nose making any feeling of tiredness I was feeling disappear. Before my eyes could process what was in front of me I could hear the screams of the villagers all around me.

Below in the streets, the once happy locals now ran in fear from the other villagers that had black coal-like skin, bones protruding from their body with some same bone lined upper face with the red tattoos that all Grimm have.

"Fucking Grombies," I said under my breath as my mind worked overtime for what to do next.

The thoughts of running away crossed my mind but the idea of leaving Raziel stopped that thinking instantly. Walking closer to the edge of the roof I watched as the Grombies chased any of the humans left diving towards them as they feast on their flesh and after time the dead human's skin turned pitch black standing up and joining the other Grombies.

Taking a running jump I cross from the church to a close building and start running across the building looking for any sign of Raziel. The carnage beneath me was staggering as the army of Grombies grew and grew with groups of them knocking down doors leading to the screams of men, women and children alike.

Before I fight again I should rest after that fight with what must have been an alpha Grombie, but that doesn't matter right now, if I fight the normal Grimm out here I could die. I know that Raziel can run away if need be and me dying here does nothing to help my... no their child.

I start rushing towards the inn as I'm sure he would come looking for me there if he did come looking at night. Entering back through the window to my room I walk towards the door leading to the main area of this inn we are sleeping in.

Unlocking the door I peek outside to see the main front door open with four adult Grombies and one child Grombie walking around aimlessly in the main room. The chairs and tables are in a mess with blood and chunks of flesh thrown all around the place.

I need to close the front door of this building and kill all these Grimm while making as little noise as possible. Thinking this over, I take a step out of the room as I jump onto the railings pushing myself towards the Grimm in front of me.

Steeling my mind for the hard fight ahead.
