Scratching his head, Sid stared at... Whatever this thing was. He was at a loss of words, honestly, because of this weird thing that's floating in front of his vision.

Now, this would be easy to understand for a soul that's been reincarnated from another world, but Sid was definitely not one of said reincarnators. In fact, he's only an infant currently with a still-developing brain, having been born just a few months prior.
"Gu?"

In Sid's vision, the neon blue display floating in front of him suddenly changed color to a blood-red, the sudden shift causing him to cry out loud for his parents, afraid of the weird thing that's distressing him deeply.

Eventually, the red interface disappeared as another interface replaced the bloody-red one. A gray interface stared back with a message meant for the user once he was ready from the Administrator.
x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x
"This is a little ironic. A cursed existence created from a Nexus Event that'll curse the world with an unseen future. I'll be watching closely now, hope you enjoy your Cursed Technique!"
x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x=x
The display lingered for a few more seconds before it faded, causing the crying Sid to stop once he realized that the scary red display was gone. Well, that was a waste of screaming, Sid instinctively thought and shrugged in the end. At least his mother was here now to pat him back to sleep.
...
Meanwhile, inside a very small space that's comically impossible for a grown man to reside in... Said grown man briefly had the chance to glance at the interface before sighing, facepalming.
"Oh, god. I got fucking Sukuna-ed."

15 years later in a shop named Dust Till Dawn...
"Sid, come over and see this! Atlas released a new sniper barrel that matches what I've been looking for!"
The red one waved the gray one over who was looking at the prices of the combat kevlar, something that he personally saw to make the prices as low as he could, causing the gray one to move over to see the magazine on her hands.
"Ruby, doesn't Crescent Rose already have a decent barrel that you brought a few months back? You even made me loan you some of my allowance too."
"Pshhh, that barrel was just temporarily to maintain the current performance of my baby! Now with this though, I can increase Crescent Rose's output and range by maybe... 37% more with the attachments that the barrel comes with!"
"Ruby..."
"It's just another 3,000 Lien loan! I'll pay you back once I graduate from Beacon and become a Huntress that kicks butt!"
"No."
"Come on! You loaned Yang a few thousand too a few days back! Besides, you do that writing book stuff that makes more money than our allowance combined in a month!"
"Once you pay back that loan, then only will I allow you to borrow again from your big brother."
"Ugh, you can't pull that card on me; you're older by just a minute!"
"What's that? I can't hear you over the LARGE age gap that we have — OW! Ruby, that hurts!"
"HA! Serve your right, mister — ACK, STOP IT, SID!"
"As Q always says, "Those who struck first lose any pity points left in me!", my sister!"
"Ahem."
The two voices stopped as the old man manning the counter coughed into his fist. The one wearing red chuckled nervously as the gray-dressed one gave an apology.
"Sorry, sir."
"Y-Yeah! Sorry!"
The old man waved his hand.
"No problem, you two. Just moderate your voices, will you?"
The two of them saluted before starting to whisper rather aggressively to each other while walking to the back of the store where most of his non-Dust-related merchandise was, causing the old man to smile at their banter before going back to his work. Darn S.D.C. was cutting on his already low margins; it's a miracle that he even could do business in this economy.
Ding~
The door to his store opened with the bell hanging to the side ringing, causing the old man to look over for some service, only to pale at the appearance of well-dressed men with weapons hanging from their sheaths along with a rather flamboyant-looking gentleman taking a long puff from the cigar on his mouth.
Roman Torchwick! Oh, Gods, why him and his store? A gun was pointed in his direction as Roman flicked his cigar.
"Do you know how hard it is to find a Dust store operating at this time?"
"P-Please! Just take my Lien and leave!"
"Shhh, calm down; we're not here for your money."
With another drag of his cigar, he waited for a moment before he looked at the men who were still at his side with annoyance hinted in his eyes.
"What are you waiting for? Get the Dust."
With the order announced, the men moved to their respective places. A henchman opens a case and removes one of several cylinders meant to store Dust, which the group uses to take Dust from the tube containers on the walls. His heart cried a little at the amount that they were taking.
"Damn fools, mental note; get your own men instead of hired ones — "
Suddenly, one of the henchmen that walked to the back of the store flew over and crashed through the store's window, sending the man out of the store like a ragdoll.
"SID, WHAT WAS THAT?!"
"He had a gun trained on me. Self-defense."
"I meant the store window! We're going to pay for that later!"
Footsteps sounded as the old man looked behind the counter, watching the two children walk to the front of the store without much care that the store was being robbed.
Roman sighed as he looked at the startled-struck men who were still filling the cylinders with Dust.
"Definitely marking that mental note to a higher priority. Get them, you idiots!"

CRASH!
One by one, the henchmen that started rushing towards them got thrown out of the store, breaking more windows in the process. Eventually, Ruby launched herself out of the store from the shattered window while he casually used the front door.
"I always wanted to do that!"
He could hear Ruby mutter to herself with excitement as he sighed, taking out his gloves with brass knuckles sewn to the front from his pockets. Man, his luck was horrendous this week; from Yang's club problems yesterday to this, it's like he somehow got Uncle Qrow's horrible luck.
Well, at least he got a little increase in his reserves; that's always a plus to have.

"Man, this system is really bloodthirsty, no?"
'Eh, we shouldn't question it much.'
Obsidian tapped on the gray interface that's been present all his life, with the familiar jingle confirming his acceptance to the quest. As the henchmen groaned on the ground, Roman Torchwick gave the two of them a look.
"Hmm, a colorful bunch. Well, Red and Gray, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around... I'm afraid this is where we part ways."
Raising his cane, Obsidian briefly heard internal gears shifting in the cane before a holosight suddenly flipped upwards. His instincts screamed at him as he quickly used his Cursed Technique to pull Ruby out of harm's way as Roman pulled the trigger.
BOOM!
A large explosion erupted from where Ruby last was as the girl in question slammed into him with an "oof!" and untangled herself from his Cursed Technique.
"I had that!"
It was true; Ruby was already about to move out of the way, but he was a little petty, even if he doesn't show it.
Without saying a word, the twins got to work, with Ruby unleashing her Crescent Rose in its bladed glory while Obsidian let a flash of negative thoughts rise from his mind to spark the Cursed Energy in his body to activate, coating his whole body in a blackish-gray hue.
As if a signal blared, they both rushed towards the thief at once, who quickly reverted his weapon back to its cane form to prepare for close quarters combat. They both attacked with fluidity, with one attacking to keep Roman at bay while the other supporting to create an opening to exploit.
Roman, however, was more skilled than they thought, as he easily repelled all their hard work with ease, eventually shooting the ground with his cane gun to break the stalemate.
BOOM!
An explosion erupted between the two parties as smoke rose, blocking their vision. With a swing of Ruby's Crescent Rose, they prepared themselves to reengage in the fight... Only to find Roman not in their sights at all.
"What the — ?"
Obsidian's eyes were already scanning the area for Roman, while Ruby was confused at the sudden disappearance.
"There!"
His eyes spotted a bright orange climbing on a fire escape ladder near some building and pointed for Ruby to notice. Ruby quickly turned her head to spot the thief before she suddenly disappeared, petals of roses leaving in her wake without him.
"Heh."
'... Oh, come on.'
Channeling Cursed Energy into his legs, he sped up as he tailed the trail of rose petals on the ground, begrudgingly wishing that his Cursed Technique could be more flexible, and not in the psychological sense.

'Seriously, this guy can parkour for his age.'
He thought as he could briefly see Roman parkouring like a dang natural, vaulting and climbing over obstacles like it was no joke without losing any speed and momentum.
And just behind him was Ruby in a bundle of red, speeding towards the thief, slowing down to dodge and maneuver around pipes and vents on the rooftops. Meanwhile, he was over here sweating his butt off trying to catch up to the two, panting as he dashed and jumped over buildings.
"We're going to work on that stamina issue of yours."
"Aura — pant — is a — pant — overpowered energy system!"
He glanced at his system interface with a quick thought of 'Quests!' to see his progress with his current quest. Dang it, the progress bar was stuck at 4 minutes plus; it wouldn't increase unless he fights Roman; that was so annoying! Just a few more seconds, too!
So, he ran. And ran. And ran.
After god knows how many minutes — "It was only 5 minutes." — He finally reached the spot where the two were clashing weapons. It looks like Roman's stuck now that there are no more buildings left to traverse around.
He was spent! But at least he was almost done with the stupid quest. So, with his arms raised, he quickly interjects the fight with a punch to block the cane that's about to hit Ruby (even if she had Aura to protect herself).
The three of them disengaged as Ruby looked at him with a smug look.
"You're late."
"Zip — pant — it."
'I am so getting back at her! Q, mental note!'
"Yeah, yeah, you say that, yet you don't do it when those puppy eyes activate."
'Details!'
"Tsk, you two sure are persistent! But the show's over, kids!"
WHOOOSH!
Suddenly, a large Bullhead appeared from god-knows-where, confusing Obsidian and Q since they didn't hear jack shit. That brief distraction caused Obsidian to barely dodge the fireball heading straight towards them.
Looking back at the Bullhead, he squinted his eyes since it was rather dark at the time, but he swore that he could see... A woman with glowing markings on her clothes channel —
"Another fireball!"
Grabbing Ruby by her scarf (sorry, mom!), he pulled hard as they both dropped to the ground; he could feel his hair getting singed from the heat of the fireball. Immediately getting back up, he started channeling his Cursed Energy into his Cursed Technique as strands of Cursed Energy wires shot out of his ten fingers.
They slammed onto the Bullhead with force, causing both Roman, who was about to throw something, and the lady in the Bullhead to shake slightly, disrupting their balance. Ruby too reacted immediately as Crescent Rose shifted from its large scythe into a long sniper rifle, with her firing bolt after bolt of Dust at the aircraft.
They continued pelting the air carrier with ranged attacks until a familiar ding sounded in his mind as a system interface popped up in his vision.

'Not now, system!'
As he swiped the system interface aside, Q suddenly yelled in his head.
"OBBY, RUN!"
With his ultra-fast dexterity and reaction time, he trusted his best friend, as with another tug on his little sister's scarf (seriously, sorry, Ruby!), he used a buttload of Cursed Energy to move himself and Ruby out of the way — A second later, pillars of angry fire erupted from where they were previously standing, the heat agonizing even when they were far away from it.
"You know, with all the fireworks going on, you'd think that a Huntsman would be here by now."
Suddenly, pelts of sharpnel blasted towards the Bullhead, leaving a trail of purple energy. He looked back to see a floating lady waving a riding crop — "Kinky." — 'Really? Now?' — as more and more projectiles fired at the aircraft.
"A Huntress?!"
Ruby exclaimed with stars in her eyes as the two ladies fought, fire and projectiles painting the night sky with the air screaming from how fast and ferocious attacks were being thrown.
The stalemate ended with a very bright flashbang that caused everyone to cover their eyes. Courtersy from the lady in the Bullhead he concured, as after the flashbang effect wore out, the Bullhead was gone.
It was safe to say that he and Q were baffled.
"One, how did it even disappear so fast? The flashbang was 2 seconds, tops!"
'Two, why was this Huntress so slow when she can fly for goodness sakes?'
"Oh my gosh, you're a Huntress! Can I have your autograph?!"
He heard Ruby squeal in delight as he sighed, taking off his gloves since the danger had passed. One look at the Huntress was all it took to know that they were definitely in trouble.

His predictions were true, as they both were currently in an interrogation room, the Huntress from before staring them down, Ruby looking dejected while Obsidian was looking at his status page.
"I hope you realize that the actions that you two have caused will not be taken lightly! You've put yourselves and others in grave danger, using Dust rounds and weapons in a civilian zone!"
"But they started it! — "
Ruby tried to argue, but Obsidian grabbed her by the shoulder.
"Ruby, don't say a word. Whatever you say can and will be used against you. Remember what dad said — "
""When in jail, never wail; or else you'll get flailed.""
The two (three if you plus Q) recited as the door to the interrogation room suddenly opened, revealing a familiar face that visits them on a frequent basis.
"Well, your father is correct in that viewpoint, something that's rather rare back in my days as his teacher."
Ozpin mutters the last part, walking in with a plate of cookies in his hand and a mug on the other.
"Good evening, children. Good work today, though I'd rather you tone down on the destruction next time you go chasing a wanted man."
"Ehehehe..."
Ruby simply laughed nervously while her eyes were eyeing the plate of cookies. After waiting for a nod from Ozpin as permission, Ruby didn't hesitate and started shoving them down her throat.
"Are we going to jail?"
Obsidian went straight to the point, patting Ruby's back to avoid her choking on the sugary goodness. Ozpin hums and looks at a tablet that the Huntress lady held, playing a video of their encounter with Roman from presumably a CCTV that recorded the fight.
"Well... Not so surely. You two have fought remarkably against Roman Torchwick. The skills that you've shown outright exceed even some of my younger students in Beacon Academy."
Ruby beams at the praise, finishing the last cookie on the plate while Obsidian's eyebrow raises, trying to understand where the Headmaster was going with this.
"I'd think that 2 more years in Signal is a waste of your potential and time. So... How would you think about joining the coming semester at Beacon, hmm?"
...
'???????????'
"WHAT?"
Q was gobsmacked at the suggestion while Obsidian's brain was trying its hardest to compute what the man just said. Before he could even ask about the details, though, Ruby raised her hand and yelled.
"Would I ever?! YES!"
The Huntress at the side clicked her tongue in annoyance as Obsidian tried to ask some questions about this sudden development.
"Hey, wait a sec — "
"Very well, I shall see the both of you later this month then. The details will be sent to your Signal Academy email addresses. Good day."
And he was gone. The three of them (Ruby was dancing in the background while Q, Obsidian, and the Huntress) looked at each other.
"I do not approve of the decision, but he is the headmaster. I will see you two at Beacon; do not be late or else."
Without looking back, she storms out of the interrogation room, leaving Obsidian with a major headache while Ruby was shaking his shoulders roughly with excitement in her face.
"... Today was weird."
'I... I agree, Quartz. I agree wholeheartedly.'
