Capítulo 49: Royalty?

Apryl had heard what Keith had about her uncle, but her mind was focused on something else she said as well as she tried one of the mozzarella sticks. He claimed that they were really good but it was her first time trying such a thing so she was a bit suspicious about it. After asking if they needed anything else, Rachel walked away again after assuring that their burgers would be out shortly.

"Hold on though. If you come from that part of the world, does that mean you belong to one of the purest lines of werewolves? My parents used to talk about a place like you mentioned where the original werewolves with the purest blood lines resided." Apryl was really curious to know this now. If he did though, how had she not noticed that there was anything different about him? As far as she could tell he looked at smelled just like every other wolf/werewolf cross she had met before.

She didn't miss the way that he averted his gaze when she asked this question or the slight tint of pink that appeared on his cheeks as he took another one of the chicken wings to eat before he had to answer her question. Had she said something wrong? Her aunt had mentioned something to her before about humans called it when people's cheeks changed to that faint color. She just couldn't remember what it was called right away.

"Are you blushing?" She asked rather bluntly right before Keith was getting ready to answer what she had asked. Her straight forwardness caught him off guard.

"Your cheeks, my aunt mentioned before that when cheeks turn that color that's what it's called." Keith wasn't quite sure how to react to innocence. She was still new to the whole human world and understanding of things that she wouldn't yet understand how what she said might come across the wrong way to another person. Keith cleared his throat and took a sip of his water.

"Not exactly blushing, you flustered me is all. Whenever I tell most people where I'm from, they don't put that together with what kind of bloodlines I might have." He replied honestly. The only other person who had managed to put the pieces together was Callum and that was only because he had taken to learning as much as he could about the past of werewolves at the nearby libraries. Although humans got most if it wrong, there were certain concrete pieces that based upon fact and not fiction.

"Really? It seemed rather obvious to me to make the most sense since as far as I'm aware very few groups are allowed to live in that area." Apryl replied as she continued to snack on the appetizers. She couldn't deny that they did taste rather good.

"You're not wrong, but it's a rather large area that is occupied by a variety of different groups that learned how to coexist. Perhaps one of the only areas where there was also never a scarcity of food people people came along." Keith replied.

"Wouldn't that put you in a position that is above everyone else? I mean based upon that. I'm sure there's a proper word for it, I'm just not quite sure what it is." Apryl continued. Keith felt like the conversation had gone off on a sidetrack, but he supposed it didn't matter since he was still answering all the questions she was asking honestly. They still had time to get back to the main conversation.

"We don't really have a word for it in our language, but the closest that it could be compared to I suppose would be royalty." Keith replied with a shrug. He never really thought about it that way since he lived so far away from where his pack original came from and most packs where he currently lived like Apryl's had only heard the rumors but never knew how much truth was behind them.

"Royalty." Apryl repeated the word, she would have to look it up later so that she could have a better understanding of what exactly the word meant.

"Isn't that something though that you would want more of us to know though? I mean, it's kind of a big deal considering where you came from. It would mean that everything we've heard isn't just rumors or fairytales. There's actually truth hidden behind it." Apryl noticed that Keith had a rather sad look in his eyes as Apryl finished speaking. He didn't reply right away because the rest of their food had arrived.

"You're not wrong, but no one would want to hear the true tales behind a place that has fallen. Isn't it better to leave it as rumors and fairytales that sound amazing and enchanting rather than to crush those dreams by telling others what honestly happened? I don't think it's worth it honestly." Keith replied as he got ready to start eating his burger. It smelled amazing and despite the heavy conversation that they were heaving, he was indeed rather hungry since it had been quite a few hours since he last ate.

"Plus, it's been a while since I left there. It's most likely that I'm the last one of pure bloodline anyways. I don't really want people to crowd around or want stuff from me simply because of where I come from. I would rather keep living like the way that I have been if that makes sense." He finished speaking before starting on his food.

Everyone loved how amazing fairytales and rumors sounded, especially when they were about something that was magical and amazing. Not one liked it however when they had their bubbles burst and found out that this amazing place they dream of and think that perhaps they could visit one day if they're fortunate enough may no longer exist due to a series of tragic rumors.

"Most importantly though. We came here to enjoy lunch and talk about your uncle, not about me although it is all kind of connected." Keith said, watching as Apryl started to eat her own food after observing how Keith did it. It was more messy than she would've liked, but the flavor tasted as amazing as it smelled.

"Are you trying to say that my father had something to do with this downfall?" Apryl asked after taking a few bites and finishing off the rest of her water.

"Yes. It was never determined whether it was intentional or not, but he did a number of things that were considered problematic and unacceptable." Keith replied.

"We weren't really supposed to travel across what was considered the boarder, but because he was an outsider, he didn't quite understand this and that lead to a number of problems." He explained. There was a lot more that he had to say about the matter, but he didn't get the chance to continue as his phone suddenly started ringing.
