Capítulo 36: In the guild's bar

Hades and Gabriella approached the city gate. Behind them, Hades dragged the monsters' parts that they gathered through the last day with a rope. The guards on top of the wall immediately recognized Gabriella so they sent a squad with a wagon.

Gabriella sighed staring up at the sky. She wants to get back home and get some sleep. Her headaches from how much magic she used.

The gate groaned open and the wagon rushed toward them, "Lady Gabriella, what did happen? Did those monsters attack you?" A soldier asked and Gabriella gave him an exhausted face.

Sighing, she replied, "No, they cooked us dinner and even brewed tea."

The soldier immediately bowed, "Sorry for the useless question. Where should we carry them?"

Gabriella looked at the wagon. They could fit. "Will head to the guild, I would like to know how much we can get for those."

The guard held a strange face. Puzzled at the strange occurrence of events ahead of him. His mind wandered off for a moment as he stared at Gabriella. "May I ask something?"

Exhausted, Gabriella glared at him. Unable to comprehend why he was asking so many questions. "Hades, can you load them up? I will talk to this one…" She pointed to the soldier and Hades started loading the monsters' parts, the soldier who followed helped him get it done.

"What did you want to ask?" Gabriella looked at the puzzled soldier with a passive glare. As if trying to tell him to go away, she waved her hand "But hurry."

"What drove you, the high priest to go hunting for monsters? If you wanted any monster parts, you could have just commissioned us." His question was valid, one that even she approves of. If Hades wasn't so keen on killing the monsters himself, she would have suggested such a thing.

"As you can see, I was training. I do want to seek my ability on the field." She replied.

It was a known fact that Gabriella didn't have an ability, she had merely learned healing magic and could perform it ritually. This is one of the reasons why everyone heard of her, she was a symbol of home to all those who weren't blessed yet dreamed big.

People didn't need abilities to grow strong, they could do it on their own. Their bodies and minds are equipped for that, it just needs training and hard work.

"I see," He replied scratching his cheek, she was right and he never thought of that. Even the prestigious high priest is looking to improve. "But those monsters, did you kill them?" He asked staring at the pile of monster parts.

"No, those two did it."

"Two? I only see one." He stared at her confused at her words. He only saw one person with her and that was Hades.

Gabriella smiled, pointing toward one fluffy lump stuck to the side of the monster parts pile. As one of the guards grabbed the lump pulling it out, it wheezed "AWOOO!" and licked his hand.

All the guards froze for a moment, they finally felt it. This was a Fenrir. All of them leaped away with their weapons drawn, terrified at the sudden appearance of such a monster.

Gabriella walked in grabbing Fen, "How rude are you, look at how cute he is." She patted Fen's head.

…All of them finally reached the guild with the monster parts, Hades stared up at the tall building until his neck hurt.

A tall brick building that ends in a tile roof. People seemed to buzz around in strange clothes and armor, each of them held a weapon and a smug face. Both Hades and Fen picked the peculiar smell in the air, blood, and sweat.

Gabriella approached the door, slowly pushing it open.

The interior was more akin to the unholy child of a tavern and a barrack. A grey stone floor, tens of long tables, and torches hanging on the large pillars holding the building. The damp scent was stronger here as there were too few windows for the about of people drinking there.

The bartender cleaning glasses at the counter stopped staring in the door's direction, his eyes fixed on Gabriella who seemed to strangely glow in this grim place. At the same time, everyone did the same and glared at her.

She could hear them mumbling, they can't put a finger on why was she there. She and they were too far apart. They knew her well, the senior hunters here respected her in fact. She saved their lives countless times.

No one dared to move, for as long as they knew. She never once sat foot close to more than one adventurer. And even when she did, it was only when healing him for death door. Her being here probably meant a serious enough matter has occurred. Moving before knowing the details could mean a lot of trouble.

As Gabriella and Hades walked inside, the experienced adventure immediately noticed the beast on Hades's shoulder. They laid their hands on their hilts, sweating as they monitored the situation.

A wobbly woman, holding a wooden beer cub in one hand and a sword in the other approached them "Lady Healer, what brought you to our home…gasp!"

The bartender knocked on the counter, glaring at the woman. "Can someone take her away, she seems a bit drunk." Hearing his words, a group of adventures restrained the woman and dragged her to the back so she won't cause trouble.

"A wise decision," Gabriella said with a smile.

The bartender snorted, "Lost a precious table yesterday when general Alen came to drink, bastard was looking for troubles more than a nice drink."

Hades and Gabriella approached the counter, "Is it fine to speak ill of him in front of me?" She stared at him.

"Well of course, could you demote him or something? He's a troublemaker." The bartender grinned.

"A general known for having a lot of fights is a feared and respected one." She replied and looked up the stairs, "Is the reception desk open? I have some monster parts to drop." She asked.

The enter guild who was listening carefully gasped for a moment, why does she have monster parts? Is she selling for money? That can't be right.

They started to listen even closer, what was she up to?

The bartender grabbed a bottle of his most exquisite drink. A treants bark, fermented cider, and northern grape wine. It wasn't a strong drink, nor was it weak. It has a peculiar yet delicate taste that women and royalty seemed to enjoy.

CLACK! He broke two ice cubes and cracked them into mugs, serving both Gabriella and Hades a generous amount of his prized liqueur.

Gabriella appreciated the gesture taking a small sip, she was exhausted so drinking herself wasn't a wise idea.

Hades grabbed the mug, took a mouthful, and then froze for a moment. Bluh! He spat everything on the bartender's face, "Gross, why does it taste bitter? It smells like rotten grass!"

It was then that everyone's attention shifted to the man sitting by Gabriella's side…Now that they inspected him closer, he was wearing night attire but didn't act like one. The Fenrir was resting on his back, after all, he had the same troubling air as general Alen.

The bartender wiped his face with a towel, glaring at Hades. He wasn't worried about being spat on, he was more worried if a fight started with Gabriella there. That could give them a lot of trouble with the city lord.
