Capítulo 15: 15. Punishment
After the delayed lunch, Jenny called for a meeting to go over the punishments for Levi and kitchen staff.
From the Wright family, Freya and Frank were present.
Jenny started explaining how it all started and Levi bowed her head in shame who was standing in the middle of the room. Frank was also surprised after hearing this. Then Jenny told them about the decision she made which resulted in delay in lunch.
"Your decision wasn't wrong Jenny. If you haven't done what you did and gave us that filthy food, I would have had your head right now" said Freya, then she continued
"I will let you decide Levi's punishment, after that I will announce the punishment for remaining kitchen staff"
"Yes, thank you lady baroness. If I may, I would suggest 100 lashes for Levi and then fire her" said Jenny.
Levi bit her lips and shivered after hearing such a cruel punishment. She could accept the lashes but losing her job mean she wouldn't be able to support the treatment for her sickly mother.
Medicines and potions were very expensive in this world and no one would pay an illiterate country girl like her 50 medium mana crystals a month. Losing this job meant loosing her mother.
She turned around to look at her master Frank with a begging expression. The only reason Levi was a maid in Wright mansion was because Frank found her cute when she came here for maid interview. Everyone was against the idea of hiring her, she didn't even had the proper etiquettes of greeting nobles at the time. But Frank convinced his father to hire her.
"It was just an accident, I am sure she didn't do it on purpose, right Levi" asked Frank.
"Yes master Frank, I would never do something like that deliberately" said Levi as she started weeping, there was still hope for her and her mother.
Frank then turned towards Jenny and asked
"Isn't it too harsh of a punishment for some mistake she didn't do intentionally? Or are you saying that she did it intentionally?"
Jenny thought for a second and said
"If she is telling the truth we can reduce her punishment, but still she caused a lot of trouble for us, so her punishment can't be too light"
Jenny then turned towards Freya and asked
"Lady baroness, how about we give her a choice whether she wants lashes or leave this mansion?"
Freya nodded in agreement, Jenny then asked Levi
"Girl what is it going to be, 100 lashes or losing your job?"
Frank was about to speak up to reduce Levi's punishment even further, but before he could speak Levi immediately said
"Lashes! I will take 100 lashes!"
Frank sighed inside 'This silly girl'
"Jenny you will administer her punishment, make sure she doesn't die" said Freya
"Yes Lady baroness"
Freya then continued,
"Alright let's move to the punishment for remaining kitchen staff, 5 lashes for everyone including you Jenny. I will administer it personally"
"Lady baroness if I may be so bold, rest of the kitchen staff wasn't responsible for delay in anyway. It was due to Levi and me alone. I beg lady baroness to pardon rest of the kitchen staff, I will take the punishment in their place instead" said Jenny
Freya glared at Jenny for a moment which sent shivers down her spine and said
"Fine, rest of the kitchen staff is pardoned but 50 lashes for you"
"Thank you lady baroness!" Jenny bowed and thanked Freya.
"Next time you dare negotiate after I have already announced the punishment, will be the day you lose your tongue"
Jenny gulped a mouthful of saliva and said "Understood lady baroness"
Once everyone left the meeting room, Frank grabbed Levi and pulled her to the side and said
"Silly girl I could have gotten your punishment even further down, why did you immediately accept the punishment?"
"I-I..." Levi started sobbing and couldn't finish her words. Frank embraced her and said
"Silly girl why you don't have any faith in me? How are you going to survive 100 lashes? You are just a mortal girl right now"
Levi kept sobbing in the embrace of her master Frank and couldn't reply, Frank then continued
"I know about your mother's condition you know, even if you lost your job I would have supported her treatment."
Levi turned her head up to look at her master Frank in shock. She never told anyone about her mother in this mansion. Its wasn't that she was hiding it, but she didn't want to take advantage of all the kindness her master Frank showed her.
"Master frank I-" but before Levi could finish, Frank put a finger on her lips and she blushed.
"Didn't I tell you I will make you my concubine once I graduate from Knight academy and beome a Baron of a city? You need to have more pride and not let anyone bully you so easily. What will others say when they see a Baron's concubine is a scared little girl?"
Tears kept falling from Levi's eyes, she was so happy in this moment that she completely forgot about the punishment she was about to face.
In the next moment Frank took off his finger from her lips and sealed her lips with his lips instead.
Levi's eyes widened in surprise and her whole body shivered, she the closed her eyes to enjoy this feeling. After Frank separated his lips she blushed and said in a soft voice
"T-That was my first kiss"
Frank embraced her again and said
"It is time, just remember and focus on this kiss alone when you are going through the punishment"

Even though she tried focusing completely on her first kiss and leave out all other thoughts, 100 lashes was extremely hellish for a mortal girl like her. Unlike Andy who only needed 1 potion to survive this punishment, Jenny had to give Levi a total of 4 potions in between.
Levi was completely shaken up after the punishment, she couldn't even look at Jenny anymore who handled her punishment. She was extremely terrified of her now.
"Take a leave for a week and go back to you home. You won't be able to work properly in the state you are in right now" said Jenny coldly.
Levi shivered just by hearing Jenny's voice and nodded. She then went to her servant room and packed her bag and left the mansion.
Frank was waiting for her outside, seeing him she started weeping. None of them said any words, Frank called a carriage and gave the location of her home and made the payment in advance. Levi then got on the carriage and left.
Their relationship was a secret no one knew about. Young master of the house having a relationship with a maid is something which is extremely looked down upon and Wright family will become a joke if word got out, especially since Frank already has a fiancee.
So naturally no one knew about it... except the owner of barrier skill living inside the same mansion.
