Multiple bullets flew forward in streaks of gold. Sol watched with a perplexed look on his face, "You swapped so quickly. . . what was that?"
"Quick Swap, Unique Skill."
"But Unique Skills aren't available until you're max!"
"Yeah, this was max at one point."
Sol's eyes moved across the room towards Nimin's account stick, "Second generation?! But that was so long ago!"
"It was a gift. Now focus up, the Elites here."
The giant armored mantis tore through the ground as it charged. Critical Shot took several rolls back to make some distance before the charge slammed into the Phaseblade.
A cry ran out from the Phaseblade, "Damn! They're cooking me! Someone!!"
"Let Johnny go!"
Critical Shot's weapons were reloaded as he turned towards the other players. They seem to have fully sprinted here, tearing through their stamina. Considering that they were kiting this aggressive Elite outside the Red Zone earlier as well, they most likely had none remaining.
In that case. . .
Critical Shot lifted his rifle to fire, but Nimin immediately frowned. Tapping at his keys he performed a roll to the right. A move that he performed solely through his instincts, purely because his gut told him something was off.
A crackly voice responded, "You're reflexes are praiseworthy."
Nimin moved his camera to the side and saw a familiar avatar. His fingers sped across the keyboard as a message popped up.
Critical Shot: You use a voice changer?
The name above the character was familiar as well: Collection LVL 64
The Cybernetic's forearm split into two as a blade shot out. Extending past and in-between their middle and ring finger knuckles. This blade was almost as wide as their entire arm, the blade only continued to extend past their fingers. Finally the length of the blade from the tips of their fingers was longer than the average dagger, but shorter than a sword.
Cybernetics, a strange class. Much like the Mecha in a way. Classes that don't fit in a general role are often called "Special Classes". Mecha was the first to be put in this category, and later so was Cybernetic. The ability to modify parts of your body to produce certain weapons led to one of the more flexible classes in build design. Blades, axes, blunt weapons, even pure fist. They could pop out of various locations, be used in essentially anywhere. The most common, and easily accessible, location was the forearm for most weapons.
The Cybernetic could be both mid and close ranged, only lacking in capabilities to be long ranged. Their Skills were designed to be more supportive, meant to enhance the user over performing simple damaging skills. More importantly however, this class was fast. Everything about the Cybernetic was quick, deadly, and hard to react to. The downside was their damage output, the lowest of all DPS classes.
Their attacks were quick, and their movement speed quicker. This was a class designed to traverse maps with ease, scout ahead, and escape any conflict quickly. Additionally, when in a team, they could provide excellent cover support by interrupting ranged classes. Thus, this class was the counter to any ranged class. The biggest victims being Gunner and Techmancer.
Rolling back to maintain the distance Critical Shot pointed the assault rifle forward and let loose its bullets. Collection dashed forward, raising a different arm to protect his face. Two flaps on his forearm extended out, making a makeshift shield. This didn't provide much in terms of damage reduction, but its surface area completely covered his head.
"But it also covers your vision!", Nimin cried.
Sol watched as Critical Shot rolled a grenade from his fingertips and ran back at the same time. Collection charged forward with a greater speed once the bullets stopped, it seems he heard Critical Shot running away.
Pointing the rifle towards the grenade Nimin was just about to fire when Collection suddenly rolled backwards. The flaps on his forearm retracted and he pointed the bottom of his wrist forward. A thin needle shot out from a hole, and embedded itself into the center of the grenade.
Boom-!
This wasn't an average player, that much was clear. Nimin didn't hesitate and moved Critical Shot's gun to continue firing relentlessly. However, his only enemy wasn't Collection.
"Thanks random brother! Let's help out!"
A Footsoldier brandishing a two-handed axe leapt forward. {Leaping Stab} wasn't usable without a sword or spear, but it did have a variant called {Descent Crash}. Instead of a standard distance closer, this one did heavy knockback.
Accepting the damage without complaint Critical Shot was sent flying back. Nimin waited the longest possible time before recovering, which had created a suitable distance. Collection was annoyed at this and spoke, "You handle the Elite, this one is mine."
"Eh? I mean okay, we can do that.", the Footsoldier wasn't keen on arguing.
Collection stepped forward, "You were quite smart to not bring your best weapons."
Critical Shot: Standard courtesy for the Red Zone.
"So you say, but you did keep something else."
Nimin's fingers twitched. Was there something he had forgotten? His armor was stored, along with his rare weapons and outfit. That was everything. . .
"Oh."
Sol was flabbergasted, "You brought something rare into the Red Zone?!"
"It's my mount! Cut me some slack! I forgot that this was a limited drop, moreover how did this guy know I still had it?!"
Swinging through the air Collection cut. . . nothing at all and started to charge forward. Nimin had no hope to maintain the distance, it was quite clear that this player was used to dealing with Gunners. At least standard gunners, Nimin's build wasn't that!
Collection leapt forward, bladed arm stabbing forward with a basic attack. Critical Shot Snap dodged to the side and took a step forward. The assault rifle glitched away and was swiftly replaced by a grenade. Tossing it into the air a handgun glitched into Critical Shot's hand and he fired at it point blank.
Reacting the moment the grenade was tossed Collection rolled back but wasn't far enough to dodge the grenade. It exploded, knocking the two into different directions. Feeling a bit flabbergasted Collection failed the recovery but still called out, "You're willing to sacrifice your HP?"
Critical Shot: Both of our classes aren't known to have large HP pools. Between the both of us, who do you think will last longer?
This guy is crazy!
Rolling backwards Collection dodged a few bullets, but others grazed across his altered body. Immediately he dragged his arm to cover his face, the flaps extended off his forearms. Nimin wanted to throw another grenade at this moment, but alas he wasn't capable of that!
"Hey, shoot that guy with {Mini Artillery}."
Sol's fingers hesitated but he quickly performed the Skill inputs. Two small artillery barrels extended off his wrist and shot the flaps. The explosion was enough to make Collection stumble back, but not much else. A few more bullets hit his body, and his HP was taking a steady descent.
Collection continued to run forward through the bullets while protecting his head from critical damage. Just as the bullets stopped hitting them he swiftly retracted the flaps and pointed his wrist towards Critical Shot. A thin needle shot forward and zipped silently through the air.
With a standard dodge Nimin sidestepped the projectile. The needles often came with a sparkling light to make them easier to spot. If you were hit by them you would receive a heavy amount of stun. Such a disadvantage was not something Nimin was willing to suffer.
Regardless, despite his attempts to keep Collection at bay, the speed was still overcoming the difference. Collection stabbed forward again, as Critical Shot dodged he adjusted the stab to ensure it would hit. The blade stabbed cleanly into Critical Shot's shoulder, he had landed a hit!
Collection pulled the blade free and retracted it. His hand stretched out and he grabbed towards Critical Shot's head! This was a Cybernetic Skill called {Vice Grip}! A grab Skill designed to pin down an opponent to prevent them from counter attacking.
Flicking downwards Critical Shot seemed to teleport into a crouching position. Collection's hands faltered as he whiffed the grab, leaving him open for a punish!
This teleporting crouch was very similar to the Snap dodge! However it was harder to pull off. By dodging, canceling it a few frames after, and then crouching or jumping, you could essentially mimic a Snap dodge but in a vertical direction. Jumping would instantly lift your legs but wouldn't have you actually raise your body. The applications for this were useful, but also limited.
Performing a {Sweep Kick} Critical Shot made Collection lose his balance. Hands glitching a new weapon formed into his palm and was placed casually on his shoulder, like resting a baseball bat. Standing up Critical Shot lifted his leg and stomped on Collection, pinning him on the ground. Pointing the weapon from his shoulder towards Collections head, he was able to see two barrels staring him down. The barrels of a standard sawed-off shotgun.
A message appeared for him to read.
Critical Shot: I told you you'll need more than a class difference to beat me.
Two shells were fired from the shotgun directly into Collection's face!
