Roland and André finished their statements shortly after Ian did his. Murphy took them and turned to Rémy. “You’ve already called Judge Booker, I presume.”
“Yes, he’s waiting for you at home.” Murphy stood and Ian followed going over to shake his hand.
“Thank you, Detective. I appreciate your help. I have no desire to be anyone’s boy toy.” Ian glanced at Rémy. Rémy had the feeling that Ian was telling him he didn’t want to be either his or Ferrara’s boy toy.
Rémy understood that Ian needed to assert his independence after being bullied by his father for all of his life. Rémy stood. “No, you don’t deserve to be anyone’s boy toy. You deserve someone who loves you and will let you fly alone but be ready to catch you if you fall.”
He put his arm around Ian’s shoulder and pulled him to his side giving Ian a brief hug. Ian glanced around embarrassed. It was obvious he wasn’t used to any type of affection, never mind a public display. Rémy backed off.
