Capítulo 28: Coconuts
It was a long walk to the nearby beach on the other end of the forest. Yang Qui loved exploring the land and found this around three years ago. It was not a beach that you can swim in as the waves could swallow you whole. The sand was fine and beige in color.
The palm trees were easy to spot and a few moments later, he was already looking up at one of them. He immediately started stripping his sword from his waist and his shirt, pulling the shoes off his feet.
Biting on a knife, he jumped and pulled himself up and up. It was not that much of a hard task. Their training included learning how to climb without the use of ropes and other accessories. He relied heavily on the strength of his own body.
When he reached the top, his leg and arm muscles aching, he huffed out a breath and took the knife to cut the coconuts. They fell to the sand with almost inaudible thumps.
"Just how much are we taking back?" Bolin asked as he carefully gathered the coconuts inside the bag. "Do you even know how to make this?"
"Doctor Jung does," he replied and swiped the last of the coconuts that he could reach. He went down a few feet then jumped all the way down, smiling as he landed.
"How's the princess?" Bolin already tied the first bag and started another.
"She's looking really red. I think she's shy about the allergy. Better that you would not look when she gets out later."
Bolin secretly smiled to himself. "Are you being nice to her, General?"
"I'm always nice to her," he answered in defense. "Am I not?"
"Of course you are. But the kind of nice that you're doing to her is the kind of nice that you're doing to us. Need we remind you again that she's a princess?"
Prince Qui honestly did not know why they kept on scooting to the princess' side. Sure, she was royalty. But outside of those walls she was just another human trying to survive. "I'm trying to be nice to her. But she's not making it very easy. It's like she's always forgetting that I'm her superior."
"I think it's just because she's upset. Why don't you try just being nice to her and see how she would react?" Bolin suggested. He knew that the prince had a somewhat calloused kindness but he believed that he was good.
Prince Qui turned the thought in his mind. She should be nice to him first. It was not like the princess had ever been nice to him since they were younger. Not when Prince Xiaodan kept on poisoning her mind about him. But what can Prince Qui do, Xiaodan was also just following the line of thoughts of the people: that he was an evil spawn, pulling the people off their homelands, and making them slaves in their country.
Prince Qui shook his head. Not that he cared what the princess thought about him. But all this meanness to him was not something that he deserved because in the first place, he had not done anything to her. Now he was here getting coconuts for her.
"Let's go back," he said and hauled the bag to her shoulder. "The princess is going to take a bath."
