"I'm confused. why are you reincarnating me?"
An Outergod most associated with chaos involving himself in the cycle of reincarnation is kind of going backward isn't it?"
The Cold One chortled, this one a more feminine and sweet display.
"I don't concern myself with that pathetic eschelon of needlessly ignorant and vague deities who reincarnate out of lethargy or demand for entertainment. I am limitless, and there's nothing I enact without rationale. You are a human exceptionally gifted in the arts of the soul and mind, able to comprehend mind-destroying cosmic phenomena. At this very moment, you should be going mad, trying anything in your power to end your existence. However, you don't. And that is useful, maybe a sign. That you are to be an outer god welcome in my rank."
At that, my eyes widened in horror. "I'm going to be an outer god?" I asked, already not favoring the idea. Even gods of relatively weaker powers live a lifetime of anguish and tragedy, living pointless existences.
The Outer God simply grinned. "Outer Gods aren't bound by what normal gods experience. We can shape universes as we see fit, tear cracks in the fabric of reality on a whim, and as we wish, able to live with a family for as long as we desire. Isn't that what you always wanted? To be loved, to matter, to feel love unrestricted by pain and turmoil?" I looked down in contemplation at the Gods words.
My greatest anxiety was being alone. The Outer God was right. I wanted to be free of everything. The humanity, the pain of it all. I was tired of the constant struggle to make ends meet. The constant betrayal, and the unwillingness to open my heart. Being cast aside, and mistreated. All that I needed to satiate that desire was power. To truly be free is to have the power to enact your will as you see fit.
I admired the power of the works of fictional characters and their endeavors, often fantasizing about the courses of action I would take in their place. It all just seems too good to be true. Azathoth told me that sealing my memories was a failsafe in case I go mad from my mental turmoil of the world I was expunged from, though promised their return when I reach a certain point in power.
In retrospect, quite merciful considering who, or what I was talking to.
"Have you decided?" The God's eyes shone with a dark brilliance as if already knowing the answer, the smile of its form was oddly aesthetically pleasing. In response I looked up, envisioning a mellow orange and pink sky in the place of the void, regarding the earth I was once part of. I smiled serenely. "I'm ready"
"...."
"Make your wishes, Mortal," Azathoth said. Seeming impatient, it sat down on a throne of locusts. They hummed softly in the boundless expanse of nothingness, their wings flapping every so often as I deliberated over my wishes. I get three, no workarounds, no wishing for more wishes, or omnipotence. Kind of hypocritical for what is the cosmic equivalent of a discord admin.
The God pouted at that. I had to resist the urge to ask it if it knew about the internet, but I mentally facepalmed instead. This being was omniscient. That reminds me... what did The Cold One say it was? Limitless?...
Mentally going over my options, I settled. "For my first wish, give me the powerset of full power Ryomen Sukuna, fully controllable with the ability to enter the form that resembled his appearance during the golden age of Jujutsu." The God narrowed its eyes in interest.
"Done. Although I'm surprised you didn't ask for Gojo. As I'm sure you're aware, the battle between them was still ongoing when you died, you have no idea who's stronger than the other." I inwardly cringed. Who knows? Maybe Gege made that bastard have a plot armor moment and he takes the fight with a broken ability again, Just like that bullshit with Toji and hollow purple.
I shivered. "matter of fact, give me Gojo's abilities too, I'd rather die again than think that bastard can beat me." The God laughed again, amused at my crassness. "Done, but be aware that you have to manually keep infinity on, and unlike the wish with Sukuna, you have to be more careful with the control of the limitless. Keeping neutral infinity on was pretty taxing on Gojo in his younger years, and even with reversed curse energy, you need extreme concentration to balance the overwhelmingly powerful dual energies inside you. Also, be wary of divine or cursed objects piercing your head or beheading you. In an instant, you'll die. Now, for your last wish?"
I was deep in thought once again. The weakness of holy weapons and cursed weapons was a pain. It always disappointed me how crazy powerful characters have one weakness to limit their actions or make them vulnerable. I had not one, but two weaknesses. Which no doubt would stack against me if I was placed in circumstances where someone's life other than mine was in jeopardy. If I get stabbed in the head or beheaded by any one of these tools, I'm done for.
I have no doubt that holy weapons can also interfere with reversed cursed energy, as broken as that was. Gojo was said in rankings to be ranked 7-C, which is roughly town level, and Sukuna is mountain level. Which I already know is bullshit. It was stated at least one time that Gojo could destroy the entire earth if he wanted to, and if Sukuna is currently in a death match with him, matching blows for blows I do not doubt in my mind the raw potential to combine their powers would be just that... limitless. So I hereby make my last wish.
"I wish to remove my constraints and drawbacks" I grinned maniacally.
[The Mad God smiles]
"Last Wish Granted." Azathoth clasped its hands together "And for your hardships, I grant you a gift. Enjoy your new life. After you complete each world I will personally raise your capabilities, bringing you closer and closer to my level of power. The frequency of your power-ups depends entirely on you. Farewell, Yumi."
After that, all I knew was darkness.
