Capítulo 107: Chapter 106
Inside the KFP.
"Are sure this is a place?" Rias voiced her confusion while looking around the empty chairs and tables of the fast food restaurant and she assumed that after hearing Koneko and Oreki praise fried this place was not really as popular as she imagined it. The color scheme of the restaurant is orange and red with a bit of white and black. There's also a bird logo or mascot that can be seen everywhere and the mascot has an orange feather with green on it. The floor had a checker design with orange and white alternating with each other. The seats and table are made of steel with some of the seats having a comfortable foam with it The uniform of the waiter and waitress have the same color scheme with both of the girls and boys wearing pants. For some reasons unknown to all of them, all of the employees are wearing two hats. One is a mini chef hat to the right of their head while the other hat is an orange beret to the left side of the head. She wondered how are the employees able to prevent and stop the hats from falling as she was not able to detect any magic being used on those hats.
"One of the employees said that they are pretty well trained by their Tenchou" Oreki explains after sensing Rias musing about the two hats worn by the employees. When he first came here earlier, he too was fascinated by their ability to balance and prevent that thing from falling and started asking them how they were doing it but they all answered the same thing like a well-trained dog. It even made him want to read their minds but he prevented himself as everyone got that secret sauce to success and this balancing trick they have is one of them.
Oreki and his group then started walking towards one of the bigger tables while the employees who not doing anything greeted and welcome them while bowing respectfully.
"Really??" Rias question.
"Yup! No magic or whatever bullshit power" Oreki answered with a smile as he sat down the chairs while staring at the employee that was waiting for them not because she predicted that they will sit at this particular table but because at every table there are already dedicated employees waiting to each table to get their ordered
Rias looks at the employees with fascination and admiration for their dedication to their craft because she won't be able to do that even if she forces herself to do that. She will just put the bare minimum of effort into practicing that as she knows how tiring that will be and will give up entirely as she proceeds to watch anime and read manga until she falls asleep. Luckily she was not able to influence her peerage of her laziness because unlike her, they can probably replicate that but they can only do that for an hour at most without the use of magic and other bullshit.
However, sometimes a simple answer might be the secret to that and that is they just glue it to their heads. Though it's cruel, it's all part of the policy, well if they do really are capable of doing that without glue then congratulations to them but if it's not them it's Off with glue.
Koneko on the other hand had been thinking about the fried chicken as soon as they got here because of the smell of the aroma of the chicken being fried inside the restaurant. Her mouth is already water just inhaling that smell of freshly fried goodness. Akeno though had a different thought about the fried goodness, she wanted to use magic to hypnotize the employees and steal the recipe if what Oreki and Koneko said was true,
"Is there anything special about this place? Except for the weird way that they are wearing their hats even though that's kinda weird" Sona curiously asked as the place was devoid of people or did Rias or Oreki reserve this for a victory party
The usual silent Koneko was the one who excitedly explained like a kid? to Sona and by that extension to Tsubaki too on how good the fried chicken here in a lot more detailed manner as she described how juicy and tender the chicken and compared it to waterfall gushing from the spring mountain above. The crunchiness is like a lullaby in her ears that her sister sang to her as she bit and chewed the crispy skin. "As for the taste of the chicken itself, the saltiness is just right up on my alley and pepper just gives a bit of heat to make your tongue want more of it but if you're not satisfied with my description, then let me tell you..." Koneko was about to go on a passionate explanation again but she got interrupted by Sona.
"Stop, Stop" Sona shouted loudly making the Koneko stop abruptly as she looked at Sona with a frown on her face the same could be said with the others and Tsubaki who was also quite enjoying hearing Koneko's detailed description of the KFP chicken while making her mouth water in anticipation look at the Sona weirdly. Oreki on the other hand is having a staring contest with the employee who just wants to take their orders
Being the center of attention made Sona's face become red as she got embarrassed but not so much as she is natural in this type of scenario. She adjusted her glasses "I just want to stop her as I rather taste the chicken than hear Koneko's description." She reasoned while looking at them one by one except for Oreki.
All them of agreed to Sona's reason while nodding sagely in synchronization. They look at Oreki who had been having a staring contest with the employee since they took a seat.
"A-ra, it seems Oreki is scouting for his harem again," Akeno said with a smile while staring at the employee who was obviously a girl.
"Oi! Oreki something now," Rias shouted while also staring at the girl and both she and Akeno concluded that this girl was not that good-looking compared to them.
Oreki turned away from the girl and started at Rias and Akeno before turning to the employee "Bring fried chicken as much as you can and the payment is not a problem for us" He said with a charming smile while also winking at her.
However, the employee did not even react to Oreki's shenanigans and just stared at him with her almost hollow eyes like she was a robot devoid of emotion.
"Do you have anything to add?" The girl asked in a flat tone.
"A-re, it seems like someone is not charming enough" Akeno teased Oreki but he just shrugged and ignored her which earned him a pinch to his side from Akeno.
"We want fries and.. I guess soda" Oreki said while looking around the table.
"We want iced tea," Sona said while her Queen, Tsubaki nodded one time to the employee.
"Is that all?" the girl asked making sure that's all.
"Hmmm.. chicken is the only good thing you got here as the others are kind of mid... so that be it all," Oreki said with a smile as he insulted the other food on the menu in front of the employee.
Hearing this angry tick marks appeared on the girl's head but she did not last out to Oreki "Costumer-san please don't insult our food that my fellow employees made out of their sweat and blood" She explained seriously as she stared at Oreki angrily.
"So you mix blood and sweat to the food you made? so that's why it sucks" Oreki said with a smirk. Valerie, Kiba, and Akeno chuckle lightly at the sarcastic remark but others just look at him with the thought of just giving the girl a break and letting her take the order without hassle.
The employee still did not react much and just said "Tenchou will hear this feedback and as a matter of fact she probably already heard your complaint" She said while pointing at the camera "so she will thoroughly train the future employee in the art of cooking" She said in confidence. The other employees around shuddered and blushed after hearing the bold claims by the girl which Oreki noticed and just smiled at them while also shaking his head at these perverts as he already deduced why they are so welcoming and well-behaved around customers.
"If that is all you want then I will the employees of your order," the girl said as she bowed to them and walked to the kitchen area of the restaurant.
After watching the girl leave, Rias stared at Oreki "Do you like that girl?" She asked which Oreki just shook at her "Then why are you staring at her intently" She questioned while in the kitchen.
"I'm just trying to get some reaction to her just to confirm that she and the other employee are not robots programmed just to be nice," Oreki explained this nonsense of interaction as he just wanted to fill the dead air.
"And..?" Rias asked and the other also seemed to want to know what Oreki discovered that would not matter in the first place.
"Well I concluded that their Tenchou just really 'trained' thoroughly to the point they feel like a robot," Oreki said casually making the other confused but Akeno laughed lightly hearing that as he knew what Oreki was implying. Even Sona, Tsubaki, and Rias know what Oreki means. They just sigh in pity to the current and future employees but they don't know that the current employees like that treatment.
"Fufu. now I want to meet this Tenchou" Akeno said while licking her lips and holding her cheek as she reeked sadistic vibe.
"Well you could probably just fucking ask to meet her" Oreki shrugged.
After that, they started talking about mundane things as they waited for the first batch of chicken to arrive.
