Capítulo 17: Chapter 17: fire's diplomacy(Jolhar's POV)

The ruler prince said that if the dragon riders come here while he is away, I should rather surrender than see the city being destroyed by flames. The citizens of Volon Therys would not accept though. People in most places in this world don't give a f*ck to whoever is ruling them as long as they can survive, but here is different.

Not only is the ruler prince held in high regard by the people, but he is quite close to them, as some even rever him. There was even a cult that worship him, at the beginning while knowing it he tried to explain directly to the people there that he was no god. It did work, but his highness said he overreacted and that they were only a fan club. Whatever fan club means.

His royal highness follows the path of a warrior and when he is not ruling, he is training. His diligence makes me worried that he may not even get himself an heir. Now, I think I would talk a bit about myself. I am a low-height summer islander, I guess I am tall in the right places. When I was younger, I lived in a small village on one of the summer islands near the coast.

I was thought how to read and write by an old priestess, that was passing her last years. I was very eager to learn since I was little. I, since young, had the dream of becoming a priest because priests were so cool in my eyes.

They guide the people, they choose the time of our wars, and all the women seem to love them, for reasons I could not understand at the time, men were envious of them, but have great admiration for the priestess.

I also trained as a warrior like everybody around the village, because my teacher said that stamina was important to become a priest, though she never explain to me why saying I would learn it later when I grow of age.

Some night, when I was still a child, my teacher died and the village was morning her death in the summer islander way. The adults were performing a sort of holy ritual, that now I know entails, while we children drink a diluted sweet wine and eat a delicious, but simple banquet, filled with fruits, we grow, and cooked fish.

Our morning rituals are very different from other people, we believe we should show happiness and a grand commemoration that our close people will return to the embrace of our goddess. It does not mean we are not sad, just that we hope the departed can't see our sadness, to be able to part with peace.

It was on that night when I first drank and tried to enjoy the banquet in honor of my teacher holding back my tears, that those white-haired b*st*rds attacked. They kill the adults, including my mother, in their most holy moment. I think they did not try to capture the women, because they were warriors as well, and would rather die than submit to inferior men. I, however, saw some man violate a dead woman's body. Chained, us, the children, and sold us. Cursed be Valyria and its people.

I ended up being sold at New Ghis. Those valyrian dogs be d*mn. Thanks to my great luck, ended up, not being sold to Lys merchants, the idea of ending on Lys brothels gives me shivers 'til this day, or even worst to the cowardly 'Good' masters of Astapor, that hide behind their castrated slave and may even be envious of their slave d*ck and castrate them because of it. So I ended up being sold at the Volantis slave market, where I was bought by the Zeys family. I used my intelligence and witts to slowly climb the slave-servants ranks. That very valyrian family had terrible conduct and were complete *ssh*l*s, I hated those creatures.

I served them loyally, not because they deserved it, but because I feared to be resold to one of these b*st*rds with castration fetish like the ghiscari from Astapor or the Yi Tish b*st*rds that holy god nutmeg-dick-emperors are so envious that they castrate their servants d*ck. I would not desire castration to even my worst of enemies except castrators and r*p*st.

I fear the valyrians, though not the people themselves who in my opinion are pathetic without their dragon riders. I fear the power of the valyrians that one day these unworthy men would reach my peoples' shores with their flamethrowing lizards and try to slave them, they would try to resist, but later would become their property, our holy land would be desecrated, our rituals would be smeared and h*ll would break lose.

Every day, I pray for the doom of Valyria, I hope one day the god of justice, by favor of the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility answered my prayers. But we man can not wait for the grace of the gods, we have to fight ourselves.

Many times I had the idea of starting a rebellion, killing my previous masters, and sending them to whatever h*ll has room for them. I remembered then that every single slave rebellion failed, not because valyrians were stronger or better warriors, but because of the lizards their lords tame.

Valyrians once were simple sheep herders, but after their wars with the ghiscari, they took their previous enemy slave owners and traders, as a sort of unadmitted hero, and copied their cruel practice creating instead of their own glorious era, the white-haired ghiscari empire.

It's a pity that the innocent rhoynars allow these purple-eyed b*st*rds to set place in their homeland. I thought the poor rhoynars were done for, it was his royal highness that made me start to believe otherwise. With his wisdom, he made, in a few years, a valyrian colony became more loyal to him than they ever were to the d*mn Valyria.

When he fights his royal highness seems like the incarnation of the god of war, which makes me sure that with his strength he could easily crush a dragon into pieces, so I believe the tale about his highness killing a dragon.

Maybe as a way to somehow test my loyalty or simply because the prince trusted me, he showed me himself creating his shadow and presenting me to him, Vasusena, which seem like quite a strong warrior. However, he told me that the real Karna was much stronger than him.

The shadow left with a chariot to participate in what would be remembered as the Three Princes war. Later, a tale of a mysterious charioteer that killed three dragons spread as far as here. I am not a fool to believe that it has nothing to do with Karna's magical copy.

Combining all of this with his royal highness's appearance that would make the most beautiful maiden of a valyrian noble house appear in comparison as ugly as a naked mole rat, I have reasons to believe he is a god on earth.

I don't though, because his royal highness seems too humble to be a god. Also, I would be lying if said that I do not envy his appearance, with it I could become the father of a whole city. Although, I already have an affair with three rhoynar beauties. I obviously would like to spread the blessing of the goddess of love with more women.

Three dragons were flying above the city. The dragon rider with the biggest dragon descended, right in front of me, and started the valyrian diplomacy:

"Take this only chance to return to the glory of Valyria, surrender the city and allow our army to reclaim what is righteously from our Volatene valyrian vassals, or be burned to ashes." threatened the lady dragon rider, which was in full valyrian steel armor.

"In name of the city of Volon Therys we refuse."I said raising a dark flag. I silently prayed to all gods that the engineers', as his royal highness called them, calculation is right.

"Then, burn to..." she could not conclude her words as a cannonball hit and crushed her dragon killing it and the shrapnel killed her.

Several "archers" with gunpowder ballista fired at the two smaller dragons killing them. His highness' inventions surely help a lot to fight against dragons, the only limitations are their low mobility, inaccuracy, and limited range while aiming at the sky. I am happy that the tests in real battle worked fine. Then, I scavenged the dragon corpses. I hope the war ends well.
