Wang Yi who heard this on the other hand, was angered that Jia Kui was considering accepting Ma Teng's proposal. "Preposterous! How could you even consider accepting Ma Teng's proposal?! He killed my husband who tried to help you all take over Tianshui! If you go through with this plan, then I'm sorry I will leave Tianshui and everything behind!"

Wang Yi's words caused the room to be silenced, as no one expected such an outburst to come out from the calm and collected Wang Yi, especially Jia Kui and Han Sui who had the most interaction with her.

"Lady Wang! We appreciate what you and your husband have done for us to take over Tianshui, but watch your words! Whether we agree on this matter or not isn't for you to decide but Lord Cao Cao!" Cao Ren, angered by Wang Yi's unexpected action, slammed his hand on the table in front of him, his voice echoing through the room.

Wang Yi's eyes flashed with defiance. "You can fume all you want, General Cao, but mark my words. If we make an alliance with Ma Teng, I will leave Tianshui. I will not stand by while we negotiate with those who have killed my husband!"

With that, she turned on her heel and stormed out of the room, leaving Cao Ren visibly fuming. His face turned a deep shade of red as he struggled to contain his anger.

"How dare she!" Cao Ren growled, slamming his fist on the table once more. "Who does she think she is to speak to us like that? She is just a woman who reached her position due to her dead husband!"

Jia Kui stepped forward, raising a placating hand. "Calm yourself, General Cao. Lady Wang speaks from a place of revenge and the pain of losing her husband. We must consider her words, even if they are delivered harshly."

Cao Ren took a deep breath, his rage simmering but under control. "Fine. But we cannot let her defiance go unchecked. We need to focus on the matter at hand and not let emotions cloud our judgment."

Han Sui nodded in agreement. "Master Jia Kui is right. We must remain level headed. This proposal from Ma Teng is unexpected and requires careful consideration."

Jia Kui took the lead, his mind already working through the complexities of the situation. "We should send a letter to Xuchang and seek Lord Cao Cao's opinion on this matter. He must be informed of Ma Teng's proposal and the potential consequences of either accepting or rejecting it."

The others nodded in agreement, seeing the wisdom in Jia Kui's suggestion. A scribe was quickly summoned, and Jia Kui dictated the message, outlining Ma Teng's proposal, the reaction of the council, and the implications of making such an alliance.

He also included Wang Yi's strong opposition, understanding that her viewpoint might resonate with Cao Cao's sense of compassion and humanity.

Once the letter was sealed, Jia Kui handed it to a trusted courier. "Make haste to Xuchang. Lord Cao Cao must receive this message as soon as possible."

The courier bowed and left the room, setting off on an urgent mission. As the door closed behind him, Jia Kui turned back to the gathered officials. "While we wait for Lord Cao Cao's response, we must prepare for all possible outcomes. Strengthen our defenses and keep a close watch on Ma Teng's movements. We cannot afford to be caught off guard."

Cao Ren, his anger now a smoldering determination, nodded. "Agreed. We must be ready for whatever comes next. This alliance could either be a boon or a trap, and we need to be prepared for both."

Han Sui added, "And we should also keep an eye on Lady Wang. Her departure could have unintended consequences. She has influence and connections that we cannot ignore here in Tianshui."

The room fell into a focused silence, as what Han Sui had just said was true. Wang Yi even though a woman, holds a very high influence and power in Tianshui's government, even much stronger than all of them.

Her presence is the reason why they could consolidate Tianshui at a fast speed because all of the officials and generals listened to Wang Yi. If she left, the impact would be so big and have far reaching consequences.

As for Wang Yi, she walked through the corridors of Tianshui, her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. She knew her words had caused a stir, but she stood by them.

Ma Teng and Ma Chao had killed her husband in cold blood, so if Cao Cao decides to ally with her enemy then she will leave Tianshui and consider Cao Caoe her enemy as well from now on.

In Xuchang, the letter would soon reach Cao Cao's hand, adding another layer of complexity to his already intricate plans. When he received the letter, Cao Cao immediately called for his advisors to discuss it with them.

Wang Yi's final words before leaving the room echoed in everyone's mind. Her husband had been killed by Ma Teng and Ma Chao, and her resolve was unwavering. If Cao Cao chose to ally with her enemies, she would leave Tianshui and consider Cao Cao her enemy as well.

In Xuchang, the letter detailing Ma Teng's proposal and the council's reactions reached Cao Cao swiftly. Upon reading its contents, Cao Cao's eyes narrowed in contemplation. He immediately summoned his trusted advisors for a council.

Xun Yu, Guo Jia, Xi Zhicai, and Cheng Yu gathered promptly in Cao Cao's office, the gravity of the situation evident in their expressions.

Cao Cao looked at his advisors, his face betraying none of his thoughts. "Gentlemen, we have received an unexpected proposal from Ma Teng. He offers a temporary alliance, proposing to join our government as an independent force. This move comes with significant implications, especially considering Wang Yi's strong opposition due to her personal vendetta against Ma Teng."

Xun Yu was the first to speak. "My Lord, this proposal is indeed intriguing. An alliance with Ma Teng could stabilize our western front and allow us to focus our resources on Lie Fan. However, we must tread carefully. Ma Teng is known for his strategic mind, and we must ensure that this alliance does not turn into a betrayal."

Guo Jia nodded thoughtfully. "Xun Yu is right. While this alliance could provide us with strategic advantages, it is essential to secure terms that bind Ma Teng to our cause without giving him opportunities to undermine us. We should consider appointing a trusted negotiator to oversee this process."

Xi Zhicai added, "Moreover, we must consider the impact on morale within our ranks. Wang Yi's departure and declaration of enmity would not only weaken our position in Tianshui but also potentially encourage other factions to question our decisions. Her loyalty and contributions cannot be ignored."

Cheng Yu leaned forward, his eyes sharp. "We can use this to our advantage, my Lord. Accept Ma Teng's offer, but with stringent conditions that ensure our dominance. Simultaneously, we can offer Wang Yi assurances and compensation, perhaps a significant role in our administration, to keep her allegiance intact."

Cao Cao pondered their words, his mind weighing the potential risks and rewards. After a moment of silence, he made his decision. "We will accept Ma Teng's proposal. Jia Kui will be appointed as the head negotiator to ensure that our terms are met and that Ma Teng's integration into our government strengthens our position rather than weakens it."

He turned to Guo Jia. "Draft a letter to Jia Kui, instructing him to proceed with the negotiations. Make it clear that Ma Teng must demonstrate his loyalty through actions before we extend full trust. Also, include directives for addressing Wang Yi's concerns and offering her a role that acknowledges her contributions."

Guo Jia nodded, quickly preparing the necessary documents. The decision was made, and now the intricate dance of negotiation and strategy would begin.

As the council dispersed, the letter to Jia Kui was dispatched with urgency. Jia Kui received it within days and, with it, his instructions to handle the delicate negotiations with Ma Teng.

The terms were clear Ma Teng's forces were to integrate without compromising Cao Cao's authority, and any sign of treachery would be met with swift retribution.

Wang Yi's face remained impassive as she received the news of Cao Cao's decision. Inside, however, her heart burned with the pain of betrayal. Her need for vengeance grew, simmering just beneath the surface. She knew what she had to do.

That night, she called her most trusted servants to her chambers, their loyalty unquestionable. "Prepare everything," she instructed in a hushed tone. "Pack my belongings and all the mementos that remind me of my husband. We must be ready to leave Tianshui when the right moment presents itself."

The servants bowed and set to work, moving quietly and efficiently. Wang Yi watched them, her mind racing with plans and contingencies. She knew she couldn't stay in Tianshui, not under the shadow of an alliance with her husband's murderers.

Meanwhile, in another part of Tianshui, Jia Kui was hard at work after receiving his orders from Cao Cao. He understood the gravity of his mission and the delicate balance he needed to maintain. He immediately began assembling an envoy group, selecting those he trusted most to accompany him.

Jia Kui chose two officials known for their diplomatic skills to assist in the negotiations. He also requested the presence of three formidable warriors to serve as escorts which were Cao Hong, Zhang Ji, and Xu Huang.

The preparations were swift and meticulous. Jia Kui briefed his team on the importance of the mission and the need for vigilance. "Our objective is clear," he stated.

"We are to negotiate with Ma Teng, ensuring his forces integrate without compromising Lord Cao Cao's authority. Any sign of treachery will be met with swift retribution. Remember, this alliance is precarious. We must navigate it with precision."

Cao Hong nodded, his expression grim. "We will protect you and ensure the success of these negotiations. Ma Teng must understand that any betrayal will not be tolerated."

Zhang Ji and Xu Huang echoed his sentiments, their determination evident. The group was ready, and Jia Kui felt a surge of confidence in his team.

As dawn approached, the envoy set out, the rising sun casting long shadows across Tianshui. Jia Kui led the way, his mind focused on the task ahead. The journey to Jincheng would be long and fraught with potential dangers, but he was prepared for whatever lay ahead.

Back in Tianshui, Wang Yi finished her own preparations. Her belongings were packed, and her servants were ready to move at a moment's notice. She just needs to wait for the right opportunity to come, where she will immediately slip out from Tianshui the moment the opportunity appears, she also informed the people loyal to her and her husband of her decision.
