Capítulo 7: Night Session
This night session in magic history and miscellaneous knowledge are very interesting. Although Roxy was embarrassed since she couldn't forget what happened earlier, she's still a professional home tutor and she teaches Rudy with a confident look.
"Teacher Roxy, don't you think magician are at a disadvantage when it comes to combat. Before you can finish your chants, your opponent might already slit your throat or even bisected your head." Rudeus pointed out the very weakness of this kind of fighting. If only magicians learn how to do voiceless incantation, they might change the outcome of every battle.
"You're right about that. But in all honesty, the magicians only know to produce magic by doing chants or draws a magic seal. Before, drawing seals are widely spread because it has a stable in producing attack spells, but when it comes to fast paced battle, the chants are now the mainstream." Even Roxy learns how to do Chant Omission so she can fight fast paced battles.
Rudy was feeling blessed right now since he can feel that Roxy is being serious in answering all of his questions. He feels that he was being acknowledged and respected. He didn't realized that he was staring at her face and his heart was thumping loudly.
'This is really dangerous, to think that I will fall for her. As expected of my future wife.' The only problem is his feeling are one sided yet because Roxy prefers an adult.
"Okay where should I start? First of all, magic originates from the elven race." Roxy said with a serious look.
Of course, Rudy knows that elves are real because one of his future wives are a half-elf.
According to Roxy's teaching, a very long time ago, before the war between humans and demons broke out, Elves are already capable to communicate with the forest spirits, use and manipulate it to fight off there invaders. It's said that was the oldest magic.
"The magic now is derived from the human race imitating the Elves magic during the war back then, and successfully integrating it and making it there own." Roxy continues her lecture in magic history.
"Then why is human magic are only capable in battles? If you think out of the box, magic can make the people's lives easier, not only in combat." So far, Rudy only learns attack spells and healing spells yet. But in reality, you can use magic as a substitute for resources like water.
"The reason why magic is used only in combat is because there's no opportunity to show it's real worth. Even if magic was not relied on, there are things around us we can use to do what we want." Roxy carefully explains to her student about this matter.
"Like what?" Rudy asked.
"For example, if you want a light, you can use a candle or a lantern, right?" Since this tools didn't require mana, they can produce the same thing as magic. Most of the humans here are not talented enough to use magic so the majority was still prefer to use this kind of tools.
"Also, not every magic are suitable for combat. For example, with summoning magic, you can call out a similarly ranked magic beast or spirit." Roxy continued.
Hearing this, Rudy imagines himself to summon Kurama, Igneel or even Meruem. He knows that it might not happen, but trying won't hurt you, it might become the reason to your success.
"Can you teach me summoning magic, Teacher Roxy?" Rudy looks at his home tutor with puppy eyes.
"Can't teach it to you since I am not well versed in summoning magic. Also, among the tools, there are magic items as well." Roxy said.
'Magic tools huh? Speaking of which, my Senbonzakura might be considered as a magic tool, but the difference is it's not made by humans, but a shinigami.' Maybe one of this days, Rudy can now summon his Zanpakuto.
"Is Magic tools has imbued with mana and if you trigger a mechanism, it will produce the same magic, like water ball, perhaps?" Rudy wants to confirm his hunch.
"That's right Rudy, very good." She couldn't help but praised him for being a smart kid. Roxy place her hand on top of Rudy's head and rub it gently, telling him that he was being praised through action.
Rudy slightly lower his head from embarrassment, he doesn't want to let her see his face full of blush. And of course, he already failed since Roxy giggled slightly and realized that her student was being shy from her form of compliment.
Rudy clears his throat to hide his embarrassment. "Teacher Roxy, you mention in the history that Demon races exist. Are they born from a creature that gained with dense mana." Rudy tries to change the topic so Roxy will let his embarrassment aside.
"Not at all, Demons are already exist since time immemorial. They claimed that they are the ones who will dominate the entire races. Although the demon's influence are somehow low now, they are still dangerous because of there temperament to the other races." Roxy said full of caution.
"And to add on, I'm also from a demon race." She said.
"Okay." Rudy's face was now like Saitama of One Punch Man's dead pan look.
"You should be afraid of me, if you didn't notice, people are quite skeptical when they saw my azure hair. A common trait of Migurd tribe." Roxy was trying to convince her student that be vigilant when communicating with a demon race.
"For me, Teacher Roxy is not a dangerous person, and what's wrong with your hair anyway?" Although he knows the reason, Rudy let his tutor to explain why they are being feared.
"If sunlight was directed in my hair, my azure hair becomes emerald colored hair. And there is a demon race with emerald colored hair with a ruby gem in there forehead that was very barbaric to the point that they don't know who there friends are." Roxy tells her student about the incident of the Spelds. They are the demon race who was infamous of killing other demon races, to the point that even humans are being cautious when they saw them.
"Teacher Roxy, since you tell me this, I will be careful in interacting with a demon race of course, but you're not a Speld. You have a beautiful azure hair and I like it." Being a smooth talker, Rudy holds Roxy's hands tightly while declaring how her hair is beautiful.
Roxy's face was full of pink and couldn't shake his student's hands. "Thank you for your compliment Rudy, but you should leave that kind of talk for a girl you like in the future."
"But I like you, Teacher Roxy." His chest was pounding non-stop while declaring his feelings to his tutor.
"Right, if your feelings are still haven't change maybe 10 or more years later, we will talk about it again." She tries to calm her heart to the sudden confession.
"Okay, Teacher Roxy." Rudy said and separates his hands from her.
Even though it was reflected lightly, Rudy didn't miss Roxy's slight happy expression.
After a moment of silence, Roxy tells the Speld's incident with details so he can understand what they are capable of. Even after the war, they were prosecuted and chased out of the demon continent since they are guilty of killing all the women and children of other demon races.
Roxy didn't forget to remind Rudy that angering a Speld is a mistake. They will kill not only you, but also your entire family.
"Okay, now our night session is over, you can go back to your room now." Even if Roxy enjoyed there night lesson, she can't let Rudy become exhausted from studying, she needs to make sure that his student was having a proper rest so his growth will not wither.
"Uhmmm... Teacher Roxy, can I sleep with you?" Now Rudy drops the bomb, Roxy looks at him with curiosity.
"Sleeping alone in my room is lonely, and I can't ask my parents to sleep with them, since they are doing something a child couldn't know..." Rudy was now using excuse that he can think of just so he can sleep with Roxy tonight.
Looking at her student, Roxy can somewhat feel his longing. "Okay, I understand. But only for tonight, okay?" For some reason, she can't say no to his student.
"Yes! Thank you, Teacher Roxy!" Rudy's smile are now ear to ear since he couldn't contain his joy that he successfully convince his future wife to sleep with him.
A teacher and a student, now sleeping in one bed, didn't realized that they are hugging each other while snoring lightly.
