Capítulo 16: Magic Training (First Phase)
"Before we start your magic training, can you feel the flow of mana that runs through your veins?" Rudy needs to know whether Sylphy can manage to sense her mana.
Sylphy looks at him with inquisitive look. A sign of she doesn't have enough knowledge yet about magic.
"Mana are something that exist around us and also exist within our body. To make things simple, you need to control your mana so you can produce magic." He explains with the best of his abilities about what he understood about magic and mana.
"I'm sorry but I don't feel about this mana. So I can't do it after all." Sylphy feels dejected since she might not have potential to become a magician.
Rudy however see this in a different light. It's not that she doesn't have mana but her mana still lies dormant in her body. This is normal since she was still a kid. Maybe when she gets older, she can feel mana.
But Rudy won't wait until she grows older. He still has a method to stimulate her mana without risking her life. Though it might hurt for a second, she needs to bear with it.
He approach Sylphy slowly and with his index and middle finger, he suddenly thrust it to her sternum, causing her to gasp some air.
Rudy pats her shoulder and tells her to bare the pain, this kind of process is essential to stimulate the dormant mana that lies through her body. This method is called Baptism, which is how Wing, a disciple of Biscuit Krueger, stimulates Gon and Killua's dormant nen.
After a few minutes, Sylphy suddenly feels something unfamiliar that flow through her veins rapidly. She was delighted about this, because she realized that this must be the mana that Rudy talks about.
On the other hand, Rudy, now activating his Scarlet Sharingan, saw a tremendous amount of mana that leaks out in Sylphy's body. He remembered that every individual with emerald hair has Demon God Laplace's blessing in magic department.
This Demon God are infamous about being a powerful psychotic magician. Though Rudy knows that this magician are already dead but he will be reincarnated in the future. The only thing that he knows in the original story was the reincarnated Demon God Laplace will be killed by Dragon God Orsted or Armor Dragon King Pergeus in the future.
If he let Sylphy be consumed in her tremendous mana, eventually her condition will deteriorate due to the body can't handle the pressure of immense mana.
Without further ado, he materialize his Cursed Chains and use the Steal Chain and it prick in her left shoulder to absorb the excess mana of Sylphy. Of course, he doesn't steal her skills and he controlled the Steal Chain to continue absorb until he can see with his Scarlet Sharingan that her mana was finally stabilize.
Sylphy, who doesn't know how to apply Gyo in her eyes yet, didn't notice about Rudy's Cursed Chains and her sudden depletion of her mana. Rudy was being meticulous so she won't get panic and he doesn't want to ruin her happy face.
"I told you, you will become a splendid magician someday. Shall we continue your magic training?" Rudy didn't forget to compliment her so she will be encouraged to learn magic.
"Thank you Rudy." Sylphy couldn't contain her emotion and suddenly hugged him tightly and Rudy, taking advantage of this, hugged her back.
The two stayed there for a moment until Sylphy suddenly realized on what she done. She shyly break her embrace and ask him to continue the magic training while being embarrass.
"The next thing that you will do is to learn what type your mana are and what nature affinity you have." Rudy carefully explains the nest step.
To his understanding, there are six types of mana.
Enhancement: Strengthening themselves or objects.
Emission: Detaching mana from the body.
Transmutation: Changing the quality or mana to match something else.
Manipulation: Controlling animate and inanimate objects.
Conjuration: Creating objects with mana.
Specialization: A Unique effect. It makes the individual to do the other five types.
As for the nature affinity, in this world, it only has four which is Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. But Rudy wants to inform Sylphy the possibility of the Fifth nature, which is Lightning. Because in this lore, you can only learn Lightning nature when you reach the Water Emperor Rank.
Rudy makes a cup made by steel using his Iron Magic, and fill it up with water. He gave the cup to Sylphy and prepares himself to walk in the tree.
Sylphy's jaw are hanging down when she was witnessing a miracle that a kid can walk through the giant tree without falling down.
When he was now on the branch of the giant tree, he picks up a small branch with full of leaves and use his Shunpo to make himself appear before Sylphy in an instant.
Not only she saw her crush walk through the giant tree, but he vanished in an instant and now he was beside her with a small branch full of leaves in tow. It's a good thing that she didn't drop the cup made of iron with water. Though Rudy didn't mind since he can do it once more.
Rudy didn't mind to explain what he did because he thinks that this kind of thing is normal for a ninja. The only problem is, he's not a ninja, but a five year old kid.
He picks a leaf and place it at the top of the water in the cup. Rudy will conduct the water divination so they will find out what type Sylphy's mana is.
"I want you to place your mana in this cup. Let's see what type your mana is." Rudy encourage her to do this.
Sylphy didn't hesitate to put mana in the cup. A few moments later, the water become full until it pours down due to the excess water that she was producing.
"I see, you're an enhancer. Though this is mainstream, this type is very powerful if you give it some thought." He recall Sylphy's excess mana earlier. When she grows up, she might capable of producing that tremendous mana again.
"Since I don't have mana paper, this leaf is sufficient enough. I want you to place some of your mana in this so we can identify your nature affinity." Sylphy nods and immediately do it.
Rudy explains to her on how this works. By placing mana to the leaf, they can observe the leaf's reaction to tell what kind your nature affinity was.
If the leaf burns, you have fire element. If the leaf becomes soggy, you have water element. If the leaf cuts, you have wind element. If the leaf dries, you have earth element. And if the leaf crumbles, you have lightning element.
Sylphy looks at the leaf and she saw that it cut into two. Having an elf lineage, She's obviously compatible with wind element magic.
"Enhancer and Wind nature element. Sylphy, you didn't realize but you have two qualities of the main characters that I know of." To think that Sylphy has Gon and Naruto's qualities, maybe she was the main character here.
Sylphy, didn't understand what he says, tilts her head sideways while blinking twice.
Rudy however only laughs a little when he saw her confused look. Then he realized that the sun was setting down now. As a man, he needs to keep his promises all the time.
"We should continue your magic training tomorrow, we might miss dinner and I promise that I will accompany you to your house when the sun sets." Learning magic consumes time. They need to be patient until she can feel how strong she would become.
Although she was hesitant to go home because she enjoyed there magic training, Sylphy still complied because she doesn't want to make her parents worry.
Rudy offers his hand once again. But this time, Sylphy gladly grabs it tightly without hesitation. Hand in hand, the two children went to Sylphy's house while the sun was slowly setting down in the sky.
