"Did you find out their IP?"
Chloe quickly calmed down. Although she was flustered, she knew anxiousness couldn't do her any good. In fact, that was what her enemy wanted.
"Looks like I have to return in advance," K said with a smile, "Remember to come and pick me up."
Chloe was a bit moved, "You don't have to do this. I'll handle it myself. I have owed you too much."
"It's not a big deal." K didn't mind it, "Just don't forget to throw a welcome party for me."
Chloe hurried to stop him, "Don't talk nonsense. You have your plan. Don't worry about me. And never change your plan because of me."
"Chloe, you are certainly worth my change. My decision is final. Wait for me." K comforted her, "I've just booked my ticket and will be back soon. See you later."
Then K hung up the phone and left Chloe no chance to stop him.
Chloe stared at her phone for a long time and finally, she cracked a smile.
"Still thinking about him? Who is he?" Daniel sat beside Chloe and asked coldly.
While Chloe looked at Daniel in disbelief.
"You... got off your bed?! The doctor said you should take a rest! Why did you get off suddenly?"
But Daniel didn't look happy since Chloe forgot to answer his question. "I have to pee!"
"..." Chloe was speechless. If she was right, Daniel was a little angry? But why?
Well, considering Daniel was still a patient, it was very thoughtful of Chloe to follow him all the way to the bathroom.
Daniel opened the door and stared at Chloe.
"Why are you following me? Are you going to help me?"
Help him? Just by picturing that, Chloe blushed crazily. Of course not!
She walked back to her bed and covered her head with the quilt.
Later, she heard the flushing. Daniel lifted the quilt and forced Chloe to look at him.
She snorted with her face red, "What?"
"Still angry? Why? Your lover will come back and you can't wait to draw a line from me?" Daniel sounded... jealous?
"You heard the conversation. He will come back to help me. He's a good friend and that's all." Chloe explained. But after a second thought, why should she explain at all?
Daniel was silent for a while and then he confirmed, "Just friends and nothing else?"
"Believe it or not." Chloe raised her voice.
At this moment, her phone buzzed. She got a message from Nancy.
Nancy: Chloe, my stomach hurts badly. Can you come to my office and help me? Now?
Chloe got up at once.
"Where are you going?" Daniel asked.
But Chloe was still angry about him. "None of your business!"
Chloe rushed to Nancy's office and pushed the door open. Nancy was looking pale, curling up on the sofa.
Chloe got nervous instantly, "Nancy, are you okay?"
Nancy whispered in a weak voice, "Not really. Chloe, can you help me go to the emergency room? My stomach is hurting like hell."
"Sure," Chloe put Nancy's arm on her shoulder and tried to help her stand up.
They walked slowly to the emergency room crowded with patients even at midnight.
"Look! The girl in the photo!"
"She looks better without clothes."
"Chloe Johnson! Nasty rich bitch!"
Nearly all patients and nurses were looking at Chloe. And they all saw that dirty photo.
Nancy looked so confused, "What are they gossiping about? What photo? Do you have anything to do with it?"
Chloe's face was paler than Nancy's. She was so worried about Nancy and totally forgot K's advice.
"Don't listen to them. You are ill and you need a doctor. That's the priority now." Chloe acted as if she didn't see their disgusted expressions.
"Watch out!" Nancy shouted and pushed Chloe away.
But it was too late. Chloe subconsciously raised her arm to protect herself. And the next second, she felt her forearm was burning.
Someone splashed the hot water on Chloe. But who did it?
"Wow, someone did the good thing."
"She certainly deserves worse."
Chloe widened her eyes in disbelief. She did nothing wrong and suddenly she was assaulted and she deserved it?
Nancy defended Chloe in a low voice, "She's innocent. Don't hurt her."
"Innocent? I'm so tired of those rich bitches. They are so obscene and they think they can do anything just because they are rich!"
While someone recognized Nancy and came to her. "Dr. Brown, are you okay? Where are you going? I'll help you."
Nancy thanked him with a smile, "Please take me to the emergency room."
Then she turned to Chloe, "Chloe, I have to leave now. Take care."
Chloe waved her hand, "I'm fine. Don't worry."
Her arm still burning in pain, Chloe was about to head to the bathroom and cool down with some tap water.
But as she turned around, she ran into Daniel who looked intimidating even in the hospital gown.
"Who did this?" Daniel sounded scary on the edge of losing his temper, "Who did this to my wife?"
It went deadly quiet in a second. No one dared to make a sound or move.
"I will ask one more time. Who did this?"
