The Prince pondered then counteroffer, "Okay, tell me what is it that you want first, and I will consider whether or not to help you." 

The Princess looked at her maid, and after they both nodded at each other as if saying, [here we go,] the Princess then said her request with determined eyes, "I want you to hold the Crown Princess selection and help me stay till I reach the final round."

At that very moment, the room became silent. 

Naturally, the Prince's first thought was that the Princess wanted his support so that she could be the next crown princess, but somehow, the way she had approached him struck him as odd.
