About an hour has passed, and we have yet to see or hear anything from the rescue teams.
Robbie and the girls had finally calmed down a bit and were sleeping together side by side next to the window.
Though I like to say that we are finally out of the woods now, the truth is we are very far from it.
While they were sleeping, I had a peek downstairs through the attic entrance, and I saw the flood had reached the second floor.
If this continues, the flood will soon reach the attic in a few more hours, and that is if the house manages to hold.
Ivy let out a deep sigh while she scratches her head, trying to think of a way to get them out of this situation.
"—— sigh, why is this happening to me?"
Earlier because so many things happen simultaneously in one episode, I wasn't able to think calmly about how all of this happened in such a short time.
It feels all too coincidental that we were trapped here in an unexpected storm with a sudden flood from an unexpected broken dam.
I know I skipped through the novel, but I don't recall seeing the word flood anywhere before.
(Author: Ivy is having a moment going through her memory drive, but the search results still show "zero." )
"Sighhhhh," she let out a deep sigh again, as she felt frustrated about not finishing the novel she had.
"Is it because I'm the villainess of this story? That's why bad things are happening around me? If you think about all the stories you've seen so far, it will make sense since the villain's background is usually full of unfortunate events that turn them evil. E.g., Prince cheats and dumps villainess (aka ex-girlfriend) for another woman."
Just remembering the evil plot that the author had set for the villainess makes Ivy's blood boil again.
"——Sigh, I swear to god. I feel like the author is deliberately out to get me. I thought I just have to avoid D-day peacefully, but the closer I am to D-day, the more I feel like all these unfortunate events keep taking place."
Then Ivy turns her head and looks at the sleeping children, and slowly she felt guilty that it might be her fault that this is happening to them.
Ivy then frowns her brows and raises her fist in the air, swearing that she would protect these children no matter what.
<Regardless, even if the author wants to make the villainess suffer, these children shouldn't have to be involved. No matter what, I'll make sure that these children will survive this!> Ivy's inner thoughts
"Ivy? What are you doing there?" Robbie asked as he rubbed his eyes and saw Ivy posing in a weird gesture
"Huh? Nothing, it's nothing. Hoho," she covered her mouth and laughed awkwardly. "Did you sleep well? You can sleep more if you want to."
Ivy sat by his side while Robbie continues to hug the cash register.
"I don't feel like sleeping already. How long has it been?" He asked as he turns to look out the window
"I think about an hour or so. The storm is still pretty bad." Ivy calmly answers him while she looks through the window as well.
"They won't be coming, isn't it?" Robbie turns his gaze down to the ground as he feels more and more pessimistic about the situation.
Ivy then hit him on the head again, making him regret having such sad thoughts.
" Of course, they will. They just need a little bit more time. So we need to hang in there for them a little while longer. Besides..."
Ivy held out her hand and gently held his face on the side.
"You have me here. I'll never let anything happen to all of you. I give you my guarantee."
Then as they look and smile at each other, red light from the outside caught their eye.
"What is that?" Kim says while the rest of the girls started to wake up.
Ivy squints her eyes slightly, focusing her vision on seeing the red light from the outside.
Then she saw five circles of red globes heading towards their way.
Though she has not seen such a thing in her life, the sight of it feels nostalgic. As if in her past life, she had someone rescuing her with a bright red light as well.
As the red circular globe got nearer, they could finally tell that it's Peterson and the rest of the man coming back to save them.
They were riding their horses in a red transparent globe where it's like a barrier pushing away the water from them and together behind them, a cart that carries a giant harpoon.
Then, when Ivy saw Prince Leon among the rescue team, she uncannily let out a tear and a smile.
Even though I had wished that you would stay safe and just leave me here, I can't help but also feel happy to see your face.
Though the storm made it difficult to see their faces, Ivy and Prince Leon could tell that they are happily smiling at each other right now.
"They are here! They are here to save us! We're safe!!" Kim yelled with excitement while the rest of the group happily smiled and nodded in relief.
Then the men started pulling out the harpoon behind them and then securing it to the ground.
When Peterson waved at them, Ivy knew it was a signal to get out of the way.
"Let's step back a little. They are going to shoot that harpoon at us." Ivy said as she pushes everyone towards the back of the room.
Shortly after, a metal-like object shot through the window, and a large hook can be seen clasping itself to the side of the wall.
It looks like a flying fox set up, where the end leads towards the men below.
Out of a sudden, Peterson's voice could be heard.
"Hello, hello. Little missy, can you hear me?"
"Mr.Peterson? But how?" Ivy was surprised to hear his voice even though he was standing outside the house.
"There is an orange magic stone on the hook that acts as a communicator. But we don't have time to explain that. We can't get up to you because of the flood, so I need you all to come down to us instead."
"Huh?! But how?!" Ivy yelled at him as she was starting to find his idea a little absurd.
"You just need a rope and a wooden stick, but if you can't find any of this, then you'll just have to use the cloth on your clothing to do this."
Suddenly the magical orange stone started emitting light and projected a blueprint of what Peterson had just suggested.
But to suddenly task five young children with such technical work at this kind of situation made Ivy severely agitated with his attitude.
"Mr.Peterson, once we get out of here, we are going to have a long discussion about this." Ivy's eyes started to fire up as she imagines how she could punch Peterson later.
"Humph!" Peterson let out a laugh, "then you better make sure you come out alive first."
Peterson knew that Ivy is not a simple girl. She is not just level headed; she is also smart; she is even more intelligent than the older man he has in his team. Although he knew it's going to be a stretch of what he is asking them to do, he believes that they could somehow handle it if she is there.
Without a moment to spare,
Ivy immediately asks Robbie to smash the boxes in the room to obtain an arms-length plank.
Then she told the sister to tear all the cloth they have and tie them into long thin strips of fabric.
The instructions shown by the magic stone was straightforward. It's a d.i.y leveled craft that most people should be able to follow, but in this situation, if you are not level headed enough, you might not even be able to process the simplest instructions.
But Ivy could not afford to be in panic mode. The only thing in her mind now is to get the children safely out of the house first.
And so with the materials they have, Ivy immediately pulled Kourtney's hand and brought her over to the zip line.
She then began to tie the cloth around her lower waist and then place the plank over the metal line for both her hands to hold on, creating a swing for her to sit and slide down.
As Kourtney sat outside the window and saw the frightful thunderstorm and raging waters below, it made her pale as a ghost and her whole body shiver in fear.
"Kourtney," Ivy called her as she hugs her around the shoulder tightly, then she slowly whispers into her ear, "just hold on tight, and you will be fine."
After that, Ivy immediately pushes her from the back, forcing her to slide down while Kourtney screams like never before.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
In the end, the man safely caught her fall, and she immediately passes out once she got there.
Then once Ivy settled the eldest girl, she turns her eyes on the rest.
"Who's next ???"
"Eeek!" X3
All three of them flinch, but she did not give them time to think about it, and one after another, all three sisters have safely sent down below.
"Ok, Robbie, it's your turn..."
Before she could hook him up to the line, the house began to tremble.
"Woah, Woah! What's going on?!"
Robbie yelled in panic
Then they could hear cracking sounds coming from below.
"The house is falling apart! Robbie, hurry!"
They tried to escape as fast as they could, but the house has started to tilt to the side, causing them to fall away to the other side of the room, far away from the zip line.
Both of them crash into the side of the wall with a loud "BUMP!"
"Robbie!" Ivy yelled as she tried to grab him into her arms, but Robbie became unconscious from the hard impact and couldn't respond.
As the house continues to tilt and fall, it causes the zip line to snap from the pulling pressure, and slowly it finally broke the string into two.
Ivy crawls her way to Robbie's side and hugs him into her arms as she saw the roof above her began to fall.
"Hmph!" She gave out a small laugh while her tears fall, "so this is the end after all."
As she hugs Robbie tightly in her arms, she gently stroked the unconscious boy's hair and said, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault. If only I weren't the villainess, if only I haven't come to your home, none of this would have happened to you all."
As the whole house began to shatter and the debris from the ceiling began to fall on her, in her final moments of death, she wasn't as scared as she thought, as it felt all too familiar to her. But she doesn't know the reason why.
Then her memories began to flash by; Ivy remembered the first time meeting her loving parents and the caring servants at the duke household.
She remembered the moments where she met her precious friends, Gregory and Gracie, for the first time.
But the memory that came out the most was her time with Prince Leon.
She remembers the times they spend together under the big tree as a child where the sunlight was warm and the wind was gentle. She can always feel that feeling from him, and it was the feeling that she loves the most.
"Ah, I see..." she cried. "I guess I do love him."
Then the ceiling finally fell, and something hard hit Ivy on the head, and she passed out into the darkness.
