Capítulo 26: Despair
Ray is currently embracing Elaina with both of his hands, holding her body to prevent her from falling to the floor.
The red liquid he found made him worried and curious. Ray vaguely understood what was really happening to Elaina. However, he tried to reject that thought and hoped that it was just a speculation.
Unfortunately, what Ray is witnessing with his own eyes now is making him more certain that his speculation is not just a mere assumption.
He sees Elaina's mouth emitting a red liquid, making Ray realize that the liquid is the same as the one in his hands.
The longer he looks, the more he realizes that the blood is coming from Elaina herself. Elaina's mouth continues to release blood from her body for no apparent reason known to Ray.
Elaina's blood now covers Ray's hands. And as he embraces Elaina, the blood also flows onto his clothes, specifically on his chest.
Ray checks Elaina's pulse and heartbeat, but finds no signs. He also tries to bring his hand close to Elaina's nose, but there is no breath coming out.
"Elaina? Hey?... What's wrong with you?"
Ray keeps asking and trying to confirm something he is thinking. Even though he already knows that what he is thinking right now is the truth.
"Hey... Elaina, why are you just lying down? Wake up!"
Ray still denies the reality in front of him.
But slowly, he starts to accept the reality that is happening. Slowly, he tightly embraces Elaina while shedding tears of sadness.
"Elaina, if you can hear me... Please... Please wake up right now.
Hey... don't leave me in this state. Sobs"
Why are these tears coming out of my eyes? Is it because I feel sad about Elaina's death? Or is it because I pity Elaina?
No... I'm crying because I know that I'm the one who killed Elaina.
Why did she die so easily?
I don't know about that. The only thing I can think of is the warning message that appeared in red.
It seems like this happened because I defied what was warned.
It's because I'm too foolish, it's because I trusted Elaina too much, it's because of myself.
It's my fault...
The feeling of sadness over death, and the feeling of anger directed towards myself, makes Ray scream without any clear reason. Releasing all the emotions inside him into a loud scream that makes two guards quickly enter.
The two guards immediately point their swords at Ray cautiously while feeling pity after seeing Elaina's body in Ray's embrace.
They probably think I'm the one who killed Elaina.
They're not wrong...
Two other people come in wearing familiar uniforms. They are Ray's classmates. Ray realizes that they are two of his classmates, but he doesn't care anymore.
Who are they? Well, I don't care anymore.
One of them shouts loudly at Ray.
"Ray, what are you doing? Hey, explain to us quickly!"
What's wrong with this orange-haired kid? Can't he understand just by looking at this?
One of them responds to the orange-haired kid's words, "Are you stupid or what? It's obvious that he killed her!"
The orange-haired kid emotionally replies to his friend, "Will, why are you so sure? It could just be a misunderstanding? There must be an explanation for all of this."
The two continue to argue about it. The orange-haired kid tries to explain that there might be a misunderstanding at the moment. While his friend keeps arguing and trying to make the orange-haired kid see the reality.
While the two students from another world argue, the two guards who are tired of the situation suddenly approach Ray slowly and cautiously.
The orange-haired kid realizes this and immediately stops arguing with his friend and rushes towards Ray, trying to protect him.
What is this idiot doing?
Ray is annoyed by the strange behavior of the orange-haired kid. It makes him sick of his behavior.
You're trying to be a hero, huh? Get out of here, let them do their job.
Besides, there's no hope left, I just want to die right now.
Even if there is still hope, I would still choose to die. Because...
Ray looks at Elaina's lifeless body. He brushes away the hair covering her face. He looks at Elaina's face with a smile.
One of the guards feels annoyed after seeing what Ray is doing and makes him shout, "Hey... What are you going to do to the princess! You even killed her, and now you want to defile her?"
The guard pushes aside the orange-haired kid who is in front of him easily and makes him fall.
The orange-haired kid can only watch as Ray's body is lifted by the guard while realizing how weak he is, causing him to cringe.
After that, Ray is thrown into the underground prison that is available in the mansion. Ray is thrown into the prison cell without any mercy by the two guards. The two guards stare at Ray with a scornful look before leaving the place.
Before they completely disappear from Ray's sight, one of them says, "Hmph, what a loser. After killing someone, even a princess, you can't even say a word. You're disgusting..."
Ray looks at the guard silently with empty eyes. Making the guard feel annoyed and leaving Ray while spitting on the ground.
Two hours pass and Ray is behind the iron bars with an empty heart. Hope no longer means anything to him, because one of his hopes has been shattered by his own hands.
Anger envelops him in silence because of his foolishness.
Sadness is no longer present in him because he feels like he can repeat it again.
Guilt engulfs him because he has to leave everyone now by dying.
Confusion pierces his body, forcing him to think about how he should die.
Laziness accompanies him because he no longer wants to do anything now.
Feeling that there is nothing he can do, Ray now just stays silent behind the iron bars, waiting for death to come.
