Capítulo 31: Chapter Thirty: Sister Sister

"Breakfast is almost ready. So, you lovebirds might want to freshen up before coming downstairs. We all know how the dirty makes you dirty." His mom said before tugging her husband, who winked at us, and disappeared out of sight. Kevin and I groaned just as the twins ran behind their parents, leaving Justin and Kylie at the door, looking at us with smug looks on their faces.

"Say one more word and not only will I jackhammer you, but I will also take a piss in your beds while you're sleeping." Kevin said through clenched teeth. Justin backed away from the doorway in a surrender motion and walked towards his room. But not before saying "Yo Azania, looks like head boy is still worked up. Might wanna do something about that!" Kylie laughed as she followed her idiotic brother and disappeared out of sight, leaving Kev and I stumped on his bed.

"Are all white families like this or are you all just a special breed?" I asked curiously after a few beats of silence. He sighed and turned to look at me with a sheepish smile on his face.

"Sis, I'm white and even this is too much for me. Imagine how they will react when we actually do the dirty!" I laughed and got out of bed, stretching my arms above my head. Kevin's sharp intake of breath brought my attention back to him, and as I did, he quickly averted his gaze, his cheeks tinged with a light shade of pink. I was wearing Kevin's old basketball shirt that reached about mid-thigh because I'm a lot smaller than him. I realised I should probably change before we headed down for breakfast, but I couldn't wear my clothes from last night which were soaked with champagne. Don't even ask, it's a story for another day.

I told Kevin I was going to borrow something to wear from Kylie and he just nodded, avoiding my gaze. I did not miss his 'morning glory' or whatever they called it, and I wondered idly if my outfit was the cause of his embarrassment. BTS music was coming from Kylie's room when I knocked, and I cursed under my breath because it's not the type of music I wanted to listen to first thing in the morning. Ayanda and Kylie would get along if they did not hate each other so much. They had a lot in common.

She shouted 'come in' over the loud Korean music and I mentally prepared myself for the torture I was about to endure before I twisted the knob and let myself in. Kevin and Kylie were so much alike it was creepy at times. They shared similar interests. You would think that being fraternal twins would give them even more reason to like different things. But they both like the colour red, both have an obsession with Melrose cheese spread (yuck) and they are huge tennis fans. So, Serena William's signature 'come on!' face and Rafael Nadal's topless body were an expected décor item in her bedroom. The colour scheme in Kylie's room was black, red and white. Her bed had red covers and her furniture was black. The white was accessories like the lamps and her ceiling to floor bookcase. Oh yeah, did I mention that they are wild bookworms as well? I think the only thing that Kylie and I had in common was that we both play netball and we have the same taste in clothes. Oh, and that we breathe the same air. That counts! She was unpacking her suitcase in the middle of her huge bedroom when I walked in. She thankfully turned down the noise from the speakers and turned to look at me with a smug smile.

"Nice outfit." She said and I rolled my eyes. "Let it go already. We did not have sex." I said exasperatedly.

"You know the more you deny it, the more you make it look like it's true."

"It seems to me like you're not going to believe us no matter what we say."

"True." She admitted with a chuckle. She closed her now empty suitcase, stood up and hurled it into her walk-in closet.

"So, what brings you to my lair oh dear sister-in-law?" she asked as she emerged from the closet.

"I need something to wear. Showing up in your brother's basketball shirt wouldn't exactly be polite. And I don't think you should be calling me sister-in-law until your brother puts a ring on this pretty finger, sis." I wiggle my ring finger in her face, making her laugh.

"Sure, help yourself. Besides, you have been with my brother for 3 long years Azania. My dad even said to call him daddy or by his first name. And you know he NEVER lets anyone call him by his first name. You're a part of the family now. You could fight it, or you could embrace it." She shrugged nonchalantly, and I sighed heavily as I discarded myself on her bed.

"I know, it's just major pressure you know? I don't want to allow myself to grow attached to your family. It's just my dad and me in mine. I didn't know what it's like to have a big family, until Kevin. And I love it. But what happens if Kev and I break up? I'd have to break up with an entire family too, and I don't think I could take two breakups at once." I replied sadly. Kylie came to sit next to me and grabbed my hands. I looked up into her sparkling emerald eyes that looked more like Kevin's eyes than they did for Kevin.

"Don't be silly. My brother loves you Nia. Sorry, I mean Azania. It's getting me a while to get used to using your full name." she admitted sheepishly, "I know this, mainly because it's a twin thing but he tells me. I might not be around often, but Kev and I speak every day. And a day does not go by without him telling me something about you, anything really. He worries about you. He would tell me every day once you started growing distant from him. And ... he told me you broke down in the rain." She paused, peeking at me through her eyelashes, wringing her fingers. I stayed still, waiting for her to continue. After a couple of breaths, she did.

"Although he will never tell me your secrets, he tells me when he is worried about you, or when he is nervous about buying you a gift. I don't think you realise how much my brother would do anything for you. I don't think the word 'breakup' exists in his tiny vocabulary." I laughed in between my tears at her last sentence. Kevin really does have a tiny vocab, despite reading a lot.

"But what if love is not enough?" the apprehension is louder than my voice.

"Then you will find another way to make it work. I honestly can't see you guys with other people. Believe in him, and yourself. But most importantly, believe in your relationship. You have made it this far; you can't backtrack now. Plus, I won't let you! Now wipe your face and let's get you cleaned up."
