Capítulo 1: What are Friends For?

ATTENTION!

Please read the following author's note, it contains important information regarding this stories content.

Warning: This story will contain various explicit scenes, with graphic depictions of violence, death, copious amounts of sex, rape (yes there will be a rape scene the warning is here for a reason), alcohol abuse, PTSD, depression, and other mental health issues.

You have been warned!

Additionally, this story will contain some of my favorite characters and waifus from a variety of different series in order to flesh out the cast a bit and to better develop the narrative since I won't be following the original story (not until later anyway). This is primarily concerning the second and third years at UA, the HPSC, and the addition of various solo villains and possibly some villain groups. However I will be giving physical descriptions of every character with long-term significance to the best of my ability, so if you don't know who the character is or what story they're from don't worry about it too much. However, I'll be taking a lot of liberties with these characters and writing them in a way that suits the story while doing my best to remain at least somewhat faithful to the character's base personality. Again don't stress about knowing where every character is from, but props to you if you know where some of the more obscure characters come from.

Also note that I will be taking a while to get through the earlier stages of Izuku's life so that all of his traumatic experiences make more sense and don't feel like they're written out of nowhere when they're brought up later in the story. So it may take a while before most of the mha waifus really come into play (like... a while), but I will sprinkle in some bits and pieces of set up to make some really great moments for them later on (and they will receive a heavy amount of focus once they're introduced). Oh and Izuku and Bakugo were born two years earlier than they were in canon (there is a reason and it'll make sense later).

Now with that out of the way, let's get into the story!!!

What does it mean to live, in a world that never gave you a chance, a world that falsely labeled you on the wrong side of society right from the start? It's a question I've asked myself so many times... but I don't care anymore, about the answer... I just wanna be left alone.

A local playground, no parents around, no heroes to get in the way, just a bunch of kids left to their own stupidity... left to satisfy and act on their own selfish and warped perception of reality.

"Stop whining you quirkless loser. I'm gonna be the best hero there ever was, even better than All Might, and the next number one hero doesn't need quirkless twerps like you hanging around and getting in the way of being awesome!!!"

Bakugo Katsuki was the resident bully of the area, ashy blonde hair covered his head with messy spikes, his eyes a dull red. He was the perfect picture of talent and strength, destined to be the best, the next number one hero, or at least that's what everyone had been telling him.

"I-I'm sorry, I promise I-I'll stay out of your way Bakugo." A kid on the ground covered his face, whimpering in hopes of being left alone. It wasn't his fault there was only one playground in the area.

Bakugo was the type to look down on others, he was arrogant and condescending, but he had a certain charisma, other kids followed because it seemed like the natural thing to do. He was the one most likely to become a truly exceptional hero, he was the strongest, there were plenty of burn marks all over the playground to prove it, and the bullying had gone on for so long and it had been ignored by all the adults, so most of the other kids saw it as a normal occurrence.

"Hey!!! Stop hurting him you maniac!!!" It was the angry yet subtly warm voice of a little girl with short pink hair.

"Huh!? Don't tell me what to do dumb girl! I'm gonna be the next big hero. It's his fault for thinking he could hang around an awesome guy like me!" The ashy blonde haired boy started walking towards her, his palms crackling with tiny explosions.

She glared at him defiantly, a response he wasn't used to, and it put him off. Of course his default reaction was to put on an even more cocky attitude.

"Listen, you must not be from around here, so I'll forgive you if you apologize. Who knows, maybe I'll even let you hang around me if you make it good." He put up a massive grin. "Aren't I generous, you might get to hang out with the next number one hero, me." He said while pointing his thumb at himself.

She responded by sticking her tongue out and blowing a raspberry at him. "As if I'd ever be friends with a bully, you're no hero, you wouldn't even make it as a sidekick!"

"You take that back!!!" He lunged forward, extending his right hand at her. But as he was about to grab her, he felt pressure around his wrist, and his body was jerked back. He turned his head to see a boy around his age.

He had turquoise blue hair, his eyes glowed a bright fuschia, he had a pale complexion, his skin was near perfectly clear and showed a slight rosy pink tint to it, and his lips bore a harsh and deep magenta, but perhaps his most notable feature was the large pink-ish cream colored horns that adorned his head.

"Bakugo. That's enough." He said sternly. His eyes piercing the spiky haired boy with a fear inducing chill, or at least it would if the blonde had any concept of danger, which he did not, but the pink haired girl did, and the blue haired boy sent chills down her spine.

"Buzz off Deku!!! I should kick your butt too!!!" He barked back at the horned boy. He then swung his left arm back around at him only to feel a sense of weightlessness, and a sudden pain in his side. He suddenly found himself lying on the ground looking up at the sky. A shadow looming over him, the blue haired boy kneeling at his side, a paralyzing air seemingly exuding from him, and this time, Bakugo found himself acutely aware of the danger he was currently in.

"We both know you're not strong enough to do that..." He looked down at his victim before turning to the girl, who was frozen in place, then to the boy they were beating up before looking back at the blonde. "You're an eyesore, so get out of here before I ruin your career, mister future hero."

His voice was deep for his age, and it carried a weight to it that was heavier than most adults were even capable of, but his eyes were almost lifeless, he stared at Bakugo with an almost inhuman feeling of disinterest, like he was simply looking at livestock.

He then stood up off his knee and began walking towards the quirkless boy. The blonde haired kid got up and started walking away, his lackeys following obediently behind him.

"You okay?" The horned boy asked the cowering quirkless boy.

The girl looked at him, the paralyzing weight of the air from before, now gone. She no longer felt herself incapable of movement, in fact, she no longer felt anything from him, but that in itself was a problem. If there was an air of emptiness about someone, in her experience, it was cause for concern.

"Why'd you do that? Now they're just going to get worse." The quirkless boy spoke in a hushed but still harsh tone before he got up and started to leave.

"Hey wait! He just helped you!" The girl started after him.

"I don't want help from a villain!" He broke into a run not even glancing back.

The horned boy let out a sigh before turning and walking the other way, a sullen look in his eyes. He sees as the girl rushes over and stands in front of him. "Ahem." He looks up to see she had gray eyes with lighter gray snowflake-like shapes in the middle with long eye-lashes going off the side and underneath. She had short and straight pink hair, parted slightly to the right, and she had puffy cloud-like earrings.

"Why did you just let him run off!? You helped him then he calls you a villain? What's wrong with this place? Why is everyone so mean!?" She gave a slight pout.

He looked to her with dead eyes, a glint of faint interest in them.

"And YOU!!!" She said pointing a finger at him. "Why do you look so sad? You were awesome back there, like a real HERO!" At the word hero, her mouth changed into the shape of a bright smile. "I'm not interested in becoming a hero." He deadpanned in response, before turning to walk around her.

"HEY!!!" She yelled at him as she ran around cutting him off with her arms outstretched to block him. "I'm gonna be a hero, and a hero doesn't let people suffer on their watch! So I'm not gonna let you suffer!" She glared at him with her cheeks puffed out in defiance.

A small moment passed before he gave out another sigh, waving her off and walking around her, being stopped again as she moved around in front of him once more, glaring at him and blocking him. He found himself dragging his hand down his face in slight frustration. "My god what do you want from me?"

She paused for a second, putting a finger to her chin thinking of what to say before her eyes shot open and she looked at him with a smile and an open hand shot out towards him. "I want to be your friend!" He looked at her for a moment before turning and looking up at the sky giving a deadpanned look of disbelief at the gods above who sent this nuisance into his relatively peaceful life.

After a moment he looked back down at her, then to her hand, then back to her. He let out another exaggerated sigh as he hesitantly turned to look her dead on, though he made no motion to shake her hand. "I'm Fuwa, Fuwa Mawata! What's your name?" She retracted her hand behind her back and leaned forward towards him, getting a bit too close for his liking.

He looked at her with clear discomfort, but relented. "Midoriya, Midoriya Izuku."

"Nice to meet you Izuku! I'm transferring to Mustafu Elementary and I'll be in the 5th grade! What about you!?" She asked him with a bright cheery smile.

He stood somewhat still in an uncomfortable silence, not sure how to handle someone as cheery or pushy as her. "I'm also in the fifth grade... same school... you're new in town? I've never seen you before."

"Yup, my dad's job had us move here, he's like a super important negotiator or something I guess? What do your parents do?" She asked with a curious look in her eyes.

Izuku began slightly fidgeting with his hands, the social interaction bringing him close to his limit for the day. "Uh, my dad is a uhhh... politician(?) I think, and my mom is an author, she works from home mostly though." He gave an over-exaggerated face of realization.

"Anyway, I should probably get going, she is probably getting worried right about now." He began walking away with a nervous chuckle and a small wave goodbye.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow at school!!!" She yelled out to him while waving her hand wildly in the air. Izuku walking away rather drained from the interaction with the cheery girl.

.

Izuku finds himself relieved as he walks through his apartment door. "I'm home." He said rather quietly, not particularly concerned with actually making his presence known. His mother had a deadline to meet, and his father was always home late.

A sullen look on his face as he walks by the old family pictures on the wall from when he was younger, though he refrains from actually looking at them, too many memories. He makes his way towards his room, where he is met with the familiar sight of his bland, boring, borderline empty room.

All he had was a bed with bland beige sheets, and his desk with a full pencil holder, and an outdated portable console that had a cracked screen from who knows how many years ago at this point, not that he particularly cared.

He let his backpack down against the wall like always, then moved towards the bathroom and took a warm shower like always. He went into the kitchen and made himself a basic ham and cheese sandwich like always.

His mom came into the kitchen, she had long flowing green hair, she had a slim but short stature, and she had beautiful eyes of emerald green, and with a hushed, almost troubled voice. "I'm sorry honey, I didn't have time to cook again today. I'm coming up on another deadline."

You're always coming up on a deadline.

"It's fine, you don't have to worry about it." He answered dismissively. Not even bothering to turn and look at her.

An awkward silence flooded the air between them, neither really knowing what to say next... at least, nothing beyond the usual.

"How was your day at school?" She asked with a hesitant, almost fearful connotation. He didn't need to look at her, to know she was afraid of him.

As if you care, you're only trying to make sure that I don't cause trouble, you don't care about me.

"It was fine." He stated simply. Her eyes hovered over him for a moment before she turned to head back to her office. Like... Always...

He found himself simply going through the same motions he always did when he got home... nothing ever changed, he never changed, his parents never changed, he couldn't even remember the last time they all did something together.

He couldn't remember when exactly they started drifting apart... when he stopped being able to talk to them... when his dad started coming home late... when they stopped paying attention to him... It was sometime after... he'd rather not remind himself of that... of the terrible event that occurred because of him.

He couldn't remember when exactly the last time was that he'd had an actual conversation with either of them beyond pleasantries. Going quietly back to his room, he then proceeds to flop onto the bed turning over to lay face up, staring at the ceiling.

As he drifted to sleep, he couldn't help but chuckle a little at how lonely his life had truly become, and how poor his social skills had gotten with the lack of communication between him and his parents over the years... and with the lack of anyone else even remotely friendly.

. . .

All too soon, morning came, and all too soon, did his alarm give him an unpleasant wakening. As he went through the motions of his morning routine... the morning trip to the throne, a warm shower, a thorough brushing of the teeth, a bowl of cereal... he couldn't help but think back to yesterday. He couldn't help but give a little thought to the annoyingly cheery girl, it wasn't everyday that he met someone who wanted to be friends... though he was certain that would change.

Still, the notion of friendship... of not being alone... was not an unwelcome one, even if it was destined to become nothing more than just that... a notion, and nothing more, after all... who wants to be friends with a villain?

.

How many times? Have I been to this place? This place of ignorance and ridicule, this hell on earth.

When did it all start? The sad reality I live? One which others spit on and berate me. One which I care for no-one and no-one cares for me?

When exactly, did it start? When did this place go from being a place filled with friends, to a place filled with enemies?

How many times? Have I come and gone? How few times have they noticed me since my reveal?

For something other than that which I didn't choose, that which I cannot change...

School was not a place Izuku enjoyed in any way shape or form. Not that he had anything he did particularly enjoy, but school was a place that hadn't welcomed him with open arms, well not since his quirk was revealed.

He walked through the halls, jeered at and spat on. He walked into the classroom, glared at and mocked. He sat down in his seat in the corner by the window, his desk, scribbled over with insults and carved through with one word in big letters.

Villain.

Not even a minute after sitting down, he felt his face get pelted with spitballs, he heard as the other kids in the room cackled quietly. Izuku wondered if they would ever get tired of something so stupid, he stopped reacting to it years ago at this point, and somehow they still found it entertaining.

A couple minutes of spitballs and a random paper airplane being thrown in his general direction, later and the teacher walked in, and everyone quickly moved to their seats.

"Alright class, settle down." She looked around waiting for the class to begin paying attention. "We have a new student today and I expect everyone to play nice. Especially you Midoriya. I have my eye on you." She stated with a flat accusatory tone.

Izuku pointedly ignored her. Turning to look out the window prepared to tune out the current happenings of his class. He returned to his thoughts about yesterday's events when he came to a small but important realization... the girl from yesterday is transferring to this school... this class is getting a transfer student... oh no.

He jerked his head back to look towards the front of the class to see a familiar head of pink hair smiling brightly at him.

"Everyone, this is Fuwa Mawata and she'll be joining us from now until the end of the year. Fuwa If you have any questions don't hesitate to let me know okay? Now then." The teacher looked around to find her a seat... anywhere besides the ones around Midoriya. "Ah how about you sit right there next to Horibe."

She pointed towards a rather short looking kid with short spiked white hair with a large bandana over his head, he had strange yellow eyes with a circle around his iris. He looked up at her with a light blush but not much else in the way of an expression.

"No thanks, I think I'll sit over here." She said with a bright smile as she walked towards the back corner of the class.

"Wait, you don't want to sit there." The teacher's voice just short of shouting at her.

The pink haired girl looked back with a curiously innocent expression. "Why not?"

"Because you shouldn't associate yourself with his kind." She pointed at Midoriya, a visible scowl on her face.

Fuwa looked at her blankly. "So you're being mean to him too." She looked around at the class all giving pensive looks to her. "Why is everyone being mean to him? What has he done to make you mad? As far as I can tell he's a nice guy and doesn't deserve any of this." She quietly called out to the class reprimanding them before looking back at the teacher.

"If you don't mind, I'll decide who I talk to." Her expression hadn't changed, but her tone left no room for argument.

The teacher looked at her with a nasty scowl but didn't say anything as Fuwa walked towards Midoriya and sat next to him. A bright smile on her face as she turned to face him.

As doubtful about everything as he was, he couldn't help but be a little mesmerized by her blissfully ignorant smile. But despite her smile, he couldn't bring himself to believe she would truly be any different, not once she found out the truth.

He did however understand one thing, she wasn't a bad person, she might've... ok she was the nicest person he'd ever met around his age. And as nice of an idea as it was to have a friend, he wasn't about to deny her any chance at being accepted, at being normal.

"You didn't have to do that..." He tried to sound rude and dismissive, but he ended up sounding more somber and regretful.

"It's fine. I'm more than happy to stick up for a friend." She raised her arm up and patted it like she was showing off her muscles (as if her arms were anything more than twigs). He blanked at her in response. "I never agreed to be your friend."

"Well I'm making the elect decision that friendship is mandatory, and you don't get a vote in the matter." She pointed her finger at him, earning her a slight glare, which she decidedly ignored.

"Besides, from where I'm sitting, it doesn't seem like you have much in the way of choice when it comes to friends, though I'm not sure why everyone's being so mean to you. Did something happen? Was it cause you defend other kids from bullying? Is it cause of the horns? Or maybe the pink lips? Why do you wear lipstick anyway? Is it cause you're gay? Are you gay? I promise I won't judge!"

"Does it have something to do with your quirk? It can't be that bad right? Is it a blood related quirk? I heard people with those kinds of quirks are often wrongly labeled as villains, oh wait I bet you have some kind of possession or mind control quirk right? Oh or maybe some kind of paralysis? Cause you have those cool piercing eyes!" Her face and body rotated through expressions ranging from excited to curious to thoughtful.

He simply stared at her, his annoyance growing more and more apparent the more she droned on and on, until she mentioned his quirk. He felt a pang of guilt in his chest at the mere mention of his quirk, he couldn't help but jerk his head towards the window in shame.

"Hey, are you ignoring me? That's not nice." She puffed her cheeks out and gave a huff before sticking her finger out and poking him in the arm repeatedly, at least until his hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. She felt a shiver run through her spine as his eyes met hers.

For the second time in as many days, she saw the cold uncaring void in his heart through his cold uncaring eyes.

For the second time in as many days, she froze, unable to move nor speak, as if under a paralyzing spell.

For the second time in as many days, she saw the unimaginable pain and misery behind a boy who clearly wasn't deserving of such treatment if he went out of his way to help someone else.

She felt small and weak under his gaze, and yet underneath the cold void of sadness, she felt a tiny ember of warmth, a spark of hope, all it needed was someone to fan the flame into an inferno.

Her hands quivered uncontrollably, but there was someone in front of her, someone in need. If she couldn't find the courage to help him now, then how could she ever call herself a hero?

So she raised her shaky free hand and grasped his hand in hers. She saw as his eyes softened slowly, his grip loosening ever so slightly until he let go of her, the paralyzing aura subsiding.

She took the opportunity to clasp his hand in both of hers, giving him a compassionate and determined look. "Whatever's hurting you, whatever happened to you, I promise I won't see you any differently, you're still gonna be my friend, and to me, you'll always be a good person deep down."

For a moment, he had a look of hope and joy in his eyes, even if for just a moment before he returned to a blank state, simply waiting for Fuwa to release his hand. The two sat in a simple silence, at least it was silent until their moment was broken by an eruption of laughter throughout the classroom.

Fuwa turned to see what the commotion was about, only to hear the rest of the class making jokes at her and Izuku's expense, clearly being loud enough so they could hear.

She chose to ignore the commotion, turning back to find that Izuku had slipped his hand from hers and had returned to gazing out the window. She was about to try talking to him again when she noticed a shadow looming over her from behind. She turned to see her teacher looking at her with an 'I told you so' expression.

"Like I was trying to say before, this child has been nothing but trouble, with a quirk like his..." For a second, she had a hesitant look on her face as she glanced over at the boy, before she shook herself out of her nervous stupor.

"Anyway, he's destined for villainy, and his attitude only further proves the point. If you don't want to follow in his path you shouldn't be associating yourself with him." The teacher talked with a condescending tone towards Fuwa.

"It's stupid to judge someone for their quirk, It's not like heroes couldn't use their quirk to be evil if they wanted to." This comment was particularly divisive among the class, it went against everything they had been taught in life when it came to quirks.

And yet for some, it led to a silent contemplation of whether Izuku truly was a villain or if they had been too quick to judge, after all some of them were friends with him before his quirk was revealed.

As for the teacher, she stood there rather flabbergasted, she couldn't believe the naive ignorance of the child, and couldn't forgive the person who filled her head with such insolent ideas.

But it was clear to her that those ideas had cemented in the girl's head, and that there was no point trying to remedy her ill thoughts. She would instead return her attention to the other prospects in her class. Not all children were gems in the rough after all.

Izuku however, was rather caught up in his own mind, the lingering pain of his past coming to the forefront of his thoughts. Something told him that this girl was different, but he couldn't bring himself to accept it, he couldn't bring himself to accept her kindness, for fear of being rejected. For fear of seeing the mask of those whom he considered friends, once again as it falls, once again as it uncovers the lies and plague his aching heart.

Fuwa was about to return her attention to Izuku, but the bell signaling the start of class rang. She watched as the teacher returned to the front of the class, seemingly no longer interested in her. She turned back to Izuku who was still looking out the window. She thought about trying to talk to him again, but decided against it in favor of trying again later, in favor of giving him a little time to come around.

Class was rather boring for Fuwa, everything covered in the class seemed to be rehashes of things she had already learned, but then she had come from a private city school in Kyoto so it wasn't surprising to her.

She frequently found her mind drifting, thinking of Izuku and why he was looked at the way he was by their class, and frankly it seemed the whole school looked at him that way.

All the teachers that came looked at him the same way, all the other students either avoided him like the plague or treated him like a blight on society.

What kind of quirk could possibly be that bad? If it truly was all because of his quirk, then how could a teacher be so mean as to encourage the other students to treat him like this? How could the teachers themselves take part in the harsh treatment of one of their students as they have?

It didn't sit right with Fuwa, she'd met other people with 'villainous' quirks before, but they were never treated this badly. Most of the time people were able to look past it once they got to know the person behind the quirk, at least that was how it was in Kyoto.

Were things different in smaller towns? Were things really that messed up? Is this kind of situation normal? Or is something else happening? If so, then what?

.

As the bell rang for lunch Fuwa turned to talk to Izu... where'd he go? She turned back to see him leaving the classroom bento in hand. She quickly grabbed her own bento before rushing out of her seat and after him, but as she went through the door to the hallway, he was gone. She turned to look the other direction to find that he wasn't that way either.

She found herself heading back to her desk with a huff. As she sat down and began unpacking her food, she felt something hit her in the side of the head. She looked over to see a couple of the other students chuckling to themselves as they readied more spitballs.

She quickly realized why Izuku hadn't stuck around for lunch. Though she was surprised when another student stood beside her.

She looked up at the bandana clad boy with curiosity. "Horibe right? What's up?" She asked with a bright smile. He looked at her with a slight blush on his cheeks, but his face was otherwise reserved yet calculating, as if he was trying to solve a puzzle.

After a moment the words he was trying to say came to him. "Why would you do that to yourself?" Fuwa gave a confused look to him. "Sorry, I just don't understand why you would want to be friends with the school outcast of all people." He found himself averting his gaze slightly and rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment, though he couldn't help but glance at her.

"So you have a problem with him too?" He looked back to find her glaring at him, it made him rather uncomfortable.

"I'm just saying, as far as the rest of the school is concerned, he's a villain. I only got here last year so I don't know the full story, and I'm not normally one to talk about stuff when I don't have the full picture, but from what I've heard, he's got a pretty shady past."

"I think something happened with his family, something to do with his quirk, but as much as everyone likes to gossip about him, the details are pretty spotty." He paused, almost as if he expected her to respond.

Fuwa looked at him with an expression of suspicion, but waited for him to continue. "It's hard to tell what's true and what's not, actually it's kinda hard to get anyone to really talk about it or him in general, at least beyond insults, apparently people talking about his past is one of the three things he doesn't let slide, last time he caught someone trying to spill he put the fear of god into them. The kid actually ended up peeing his pants, and ended up getting taken out of the school."

Fuwa found herself a bit curious, and decided to ask the obvious question. "What are the other things he doesn't let slide?"

"He doesn't let anyone talk about his quirk, anytime I bring it up to find out the other kids get scared, I've also never seen any obvious hints as to what it is exactly. Though I also haven't pressed anyone very much, if he's as scary as they keep making him out to be, I'd rather not get on his bad side."

He went quiet for a moment before letting out a small chuckle. "It's kinda funny though, most kids tend to show their quirks off, but I think he hates his. What I do know is that even the teachers get scared of him when he gets angry so maybe it has something to do with fear? Best I can really do is guess though."

Fuwa looked at her food in thought for a moment before turning back to Horibe. "What about the third thing?"

Horibe gave her a small shrug. "I don't know what the third thing is. I only know that there is a third thing, and that its the thing they fear the most. So much that they wouldn't even give me a hint. It's the thing nobody budged about, not even a little."

Fuwa couldn't lie about her curiosity on the subject, she wanted to learn more about Izuku, but it didn't seem like she was gonna get anything more from anyone but himself, and he didn't seem too keen on talking about himself in general.

But regardless, things didn't add up. "It doesn't make sense, yesterday I was at the park and another kid was getting bullied for being quirkless, and Izuku stepped in to help. But he was called a villain. I don't get it."

She looked to Horibe who appeared to be looking on in thought. "He's not usually the type to get involved in something like that. Did anything else happen?"

"This other kid, Bakugo(?) I think, anyway he was about to hit me after I told him to stop." Horibe went a little wide-eyed at that. "Ah that's probably why." Fuwa looked at him with a questioning look in her eyes. "I mean those two hate each other. I heard they were best friends at one point.

I'm not sure when they stopped getting along. But I think something big happened between them. It's probably why Midoriya let himself get held back." He said with a shrug.

"Wait he let himself get held back?" Fuwa went wide-eyed with surprise at that.

Horibe nodded in confirmation. "Pretty sure he only did it to stay away from Bakugo. He's not dumb enough to get held back unless it was intentional."

Fuwa stopped for a moment before looking at him with a small smile. "You seem to have put more thought into this than you let on."

"Kinda hard not to be curious when the guy looks like he just wants to be left alone all the time. It's honestly kinda depressing." Horibe found himself looking a little down at that.

Fuwa took that as her cue to wrap up the conversation. "Well thanks for filling me in on what you know."

Horibe gave her a slight nod, before he found himself lightly rubbing the back of his neck. "Uh, so you're... still gonna hang around with him?"

Fuwa looked up at him, slightly curious, and a little hopeful about where this was going. "Yeah. I wanna hear everything from his perspective, and I still don't really believe he's a bad person." She looks slightly off to the windows in thought before returning to look back at him. "Everybody makes mistakes, even if he did do something bad before, that doesn't mean he's bad."

Horibe couldn't help but stare at the breathtaking smile on her face.

Later in life he would look back on this moment, again and again, the moment that his heart was well and truly, taken.

Like a raging storm of butterflies had flooded his stomach.

But at present, in this moment he couldn't possibly understand what these new emotions were, for lack of any experience with them.

Nor could he understand, just how much these emotions would end up hurting him.

"What about you? Don't you wanna find out if everything is true for yourself?" She asked.

But as Horibe looked back around the room, as he looked around at the suspicious glares of his classmates, of his friends. He didn't have the heart, to give her the answer she wanted to hear. He didn't have the courage to paint a target on his back.

And he would always look back, and wonder if things might have been different between him and Fuwa, if he had just said yes, if only, he had said yes.

"Sorry. I don't have the heart to do something like that." He stated, looking a bit dejected.

"No no, don't worry. I get it." Fuwa kindly reassured him. "I hope you change your mind though. At some point." She gave him a warm smile, and he found himself blushing as he went back to his desk.

Fuwa turned back to her meal, and found herself in slight contemplation for the rest of lunch, unsure of how to approach Izuku.

.

As lunch came to an end, Izuku came back to the classroom, hesitant about his current predicament. Fuwa was still sitting next to his seat, he wasn't exactly looking forward to her continued attempts to figure him out.

As he re-entered the classroom, he noticed a contingent of classmates who seemingly had yet to notice his presence, all turning their glares on Fuwa. It didn't sit right with him, that someone else would share in his suffering, his painful isolation.

He proceeded quietly through the class, stopping next to Fuwa, ready to berate and insult her, to push her away, but as he opened his mouth, he froze.

A bright smile on her face as she turned to look at him. A smile, he couldn't bring himself to ruin, even in his attempt to help her, however misguided that attempt may be. He couldn't bring himself to betray her smile.

So he said nothing, he walked to his desk, cursing at himself, for his cowardice. After a while he noticed an odd feeling within himself. It wasn't a feeling he was used to, but occasionally, whenever he glanced to Fuwa, he would feel an odd pang in his stomach, but it wasn't exactly like the guilty pang he felt whenever he remembered... no this was more of an empty pang.

He couldn't figure out why he was feeling this empty hole all of a sudden. He could tell it was because of Fuwa, but he didn't understand what exactly she did, was this because of her quirk? Was she trying to hurt him? Was she trying to make him feel bad? Was she trying to make him feel alone, so she could get close to him, and betray him like all the others?

What the hell did she do to me?

Izuku spent the rest of the day wrestling with his thoughts and emotions, unable to cope with his restless heart. Meanwhile Fuwa was blissfully unaware of Izuku's struggles, and had spent her day trying to think of ways to get Izuku to talk about himself.

As school came to an end and the rest of the class began packing up and leaving, Fuwa turned to Izuku, she began tapping him on the shoulder. He turned to her with a deadpanned look on his face. "What?" His voice was harsh and snappy, he didn't even attempt to hide his annoyance.

Fuwa leveled a small glare at him. "Listen, I don't know why you have this whole edgy loner persona going on, but it's not who you are."

Her glare softens a bit, she shows him a determined, yet somehow somber smile. "I... I really want to be your friend, I want to help you, so... please just, let me in. I know it's hard, being alone."

"When I was younger, my Dad used to ignore me... a lot, and my mom wasn't… she wasn't around. Eventually I got fed up with it and I started crying and yelling at him, It took me a couple hours to calm down."

"After that, things got better between us, he started coming home at reasonable times, and stopped working from home almost entirely. He also started smiling a lot more."

She paused for a moment, paying attention to Izuku's reaction, of which there wasn't much. She found herself taking a deep breath to mentally prepare herself.

"People aren't supposed to be alone, I know because I've been there, it's not something I want anyone else to go through. I'm sure it's not exactly the same as what you've been through, but I probably understand your pain better than most of the kids here. So-"

"Stop." Fuwa went wide eyed, a bit confused, she wondered if her ears had played a trick on her. "I don't want you hanging around me. Last thing I need is someone else getting hurt because of me."

He grabbed his bag and got up to leave. But as he walked past Fuwa, he felt a hand wrap itself around his wrist.

He turned to look at her, his face near expressionless, but he could feel his cheeks heat up at the contact, he could hear his heart beating faster and faster, he could swear it felt like it would explode.

He didn't understand any of these feelings, nor did he have any real time to process them as everything within him went cold, as he heard her words. "You hurt someone right? Was it a family member?"

.

He was on a train, nobody else was on it, just him and the sounds of the tracks. He looked around, the light was dim as the sun seemed to be setting. He got up from his seat and began walking down the car.

As he walked, cracks began forming on the floor and walls, with each step the cracks got bigger, and splintered off into more and more branches, until everything went black.

He was in a free fall, surrounded by a void of nothing. He didn't know how long he fell for, but he saw flashes, over and over again, he saw flashes of short and fluffy green hair and pale skin with light freckling.

He found himself looking down at his body, then his eyes traced his body to his hand, and it was covered in blood. In his bloodstained hand, he saw a reflection, but he didn't see himself. He found himself quickly turning away, unable to confront the guilt of seeing that familiar face.

.

He suddenly found himself on the floor, a sharp pain on the back of his head. His ears rang, he could swear he audibly grunted in pain, but he couldn't hear it.

As he sat up and reoriented himself, he saw Fuwa. He pushed against the ground to get up, only managing to stand for a second before nearly falling again. He stumbled into the girl, his mind fuzzy, his body locking up, as if he was covered in chains from head to toe.

He managed to bring his head up to look at the girl in front of him, he found himself latching onto her to stay upright. They stayed still for a moment, and as Izuku came to his senses, the ringing stopped, and he felt his body relax.

He let go of Fuwa, grabbing onto a desk to steady himself. His breath still felt heavy, his thoughts still fuzzy and disorganized, but things were starting to come back together. He felt a hand wrap around his, a familiar sensation, that brought warmth and comfort to him.

He felt his breathing slowly stabilize, the fog clearing from his thoughts. He turned to see the worried face of an annoyingly persistent pink haired girl. He felt a sweat drop flow down his forehead into his eye. He wiped it away, taking note of just how much he was sweating.

It slowly dawned on him what exactly happened. He turned to Fuwa, making sure he was calm enough to properly talk to her. His voice was soft and weak. "Don't tell anyone about this. And stop asking questions about me."

"You fainted, then when you woke up you wouldn't respond, you looked like you were in so much pain, what happened?"

He gave a soft almost accusatory glare to her. "You're the one who brought my shitty past up." She found herself slightly averting from his gaze. He gave off a sigh.

"It's not the first time this has happened. How long was I out and how long was I unresponsive?"

"You fainted for a few seconds. You were unresponsive for a few minutes." Her reply was dry and her eyes portrayed a feeling of guilt.

Izuku took a second to reorganize his thoughts, taking note of Fuwa's reaction. "You stayed with me?" She gave a small nod. "Thanks."

She watched as he turned away from her and started rubbing the back of his neck, a small spark of warmth finding its way to her heart in the wake of her guilt. "Yeah, no problem."

He found himself glancing back at her, a small smile gracing her face. "Hey, I uh..." He couldn't help but get caught on his words as she looked back at him. "I, uh... do you still wanna be friends? I mean you know... as long as you don't pry about my past."

He found himself averting his gaze a little, keeping her in his peripheral vision.

She stalled in thought for a second, before looking back at him. "Will you, you know, tell me about yourself, you know as you get comfortable?" He took a second to think, not sure what the correct thing to say was.

He wasn't sure why, but didn't want to betray her smile again, but he wasn't sure he'd ever be ready to really talk about himself, he has enough trouble just thinking about everything.

But as he looked at her face, she seemed somewhat apprehensive, she showed a vulnerability that nobody had shown to him in years. As he took in the details of her expression, something in him just snapped. "If... if you're willing to wait for me. I'll tell you, at some point."

She looked at him, honestly surprised, and frankly ecstatic at his answer. "Thank you, I don't know what happened, and you don't have to tell me everything right away, or all at once."

"But I want to help anyway I can, and I hope eventually you'll feel comfortable enough that we can have a real conversation about it. However far in the future that is." She gave him a warm smile.

He couldn't help the warmth he felt in his cheeks as he took in her expression. "Uh, yeah. Um sorry for uh, brushing you off so much. I was afraid, of a lot of things."

"It's fine, everything will work out in the end." She grabbed her bag and began walking towards the door. "Hey Fuwa." She turned, to see him nervously fidgeting with his hands, a light blush dusting his face. "Thanks. For everything."

She walked back up to him, poking him in the forehead and giving him a bright smile, causing him to blink in surprise. "I mean, what are friends for? Am I right?" She turned back around and began walking away, only to spin slightly to look back at him. "Oh and, call me Mawata."
