Capítulo 20: Twenty

Remus.

The sun had barely risen when I called for the meeting. The entire pack house was buzzing with anxiety as everyone gathered—pack members, elders, my parents.

Their murmurs filled the air, everyone guessing why I had called them so urgently. They knew something big was coming, and no one dared to be late.

As I entered the room, every whisper died down. Rhea was beside me, a step behind but close enough that our presence together made a statement. My gaze swept over the room, my face set like stone, eyes cold and unyielding.

Rhea stood tall, her expression calm but strong, embodying the role of Luna with quiet grace. The room was silent now, everyone's eyes on us, waiting for what was to come.

I didn't waste time with pleasantries. My voice rang out firm, leaving no room for doubt. "Good morning, everyone," I began and they responded.

I looked around the room and landed on my mother who was sitting comfortably but sending daggers my way. She was obviously still pissed from the warning I gave her last night and she knows this meeting must likely be about it.

"I know everyone is speculating why we're holding a meeting this early and abruptly. But it is urgent and cannot be kept waiting!" I said firmly, looking around the room. I could see the eagerness in everyone's faces.

"If you all have forgotten due to my gentleness--I am your Alpha," I began, my tone leaving a chill in the air. "And Rhea is your Luna." My eyes moved to my mother, and my father, daring them to challenge me.

They remained still, but I could see her jaw tightening. "Anyone who questions this—anyone who tries to undermine our authority—will be seen as challenging me directly," I continued. "And there will be consequences." My words hung heavily in the room, each syllable a warning.

I looked around the room, meeting the eyes of every elder, every member. My message was clear: Rhea and I were in control. I saw my mother out of the corner of my eye, trying to maintain her calm facade.

But I saw the flash of anger in her eyes, the way she glanced toward the elders, hoping for support. My father shifted uncomfortably beside her, sensing the walls closing in.

Just as I was about to end the meeting, one of the elders took a step forward. The room collectively held its breath. This elder had always been one of her supporters, and his face was pale with nerves.

He cleared his throat, glancing briefly at my mother before speaking. "Alpha Remus, with all due respect," he said hesitantly, "some traditions... they must be considered."

Silence. The room was on edge, waiting to see how I would react. My eyes locked onto his, unblinking.

For a moment, I let the tension build, then a small smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth. "Is that so?" I replied, my voice dangerously calm. "Then perhaps it's time we redefine what traditions truly serve this pack."

I let my words sink in, the air thickening with suspense. No one dared to move, to even breathe too loudly. The elder shifted under my gaze, realizing he had overstepped. The rest of the room waited, unsure of what I would do next.

"Understand this," I continued, my voice slicing through the silence. "We evolve, or we die. If our traditions are nothing but chains holding us back, then they will be broken." I glanced around the room one last time, making sure my message was clear. My gaze landed back on my mother, whose expression was now a mask of forced neutrality. She wouldn't show her hand now, not here. But this wasn't over. Not by a long shot.

**

The door closed behind us, sealing off the commotion of the pack meeting. I still felt the anger swirling inside my chest and still making it heavy.

My mother's schemes had pushed me to the edge, and the thought of her trying to undermine Rhea made my blood boil. I paced the room, my fists clenching and unclenching as I tried to get a grip on my emotions. I knew I had to stay calm, for Rhea's sake, but it was hard. Being Alpha meant carrying this weight, but it didn't make it any easier to bear.

Rhea watched me from across the room. She was quiet, her eyes filled with understanding. She knew this wasn't just about the meeting; it was about everything that came with being Alpha, being Luna. It was about the constant battles, the need to stand firm against those who would tear us down. And she understood that. She always did. Slowly, she crossed the room toward me, her movements soft and deliberate. She reached out and placed her hands on either side of my face, forcing me to look at her. Her touch was gentle, her eyes steady as they locked onto mine.

"You did the right thing," she whispered, her voice a soothing balm to my frayed nerves. "We are stronger together, Remus. No one can change that."

For a moment, I just stared at her, the fire in my chest slowly fading. In her eyes, I saw something solid, something unbreakable.

She was my anchor, the one person who could keep me from spiraling out of control. But then a different thought crossed my mind. Did she love me? I wasn't sure, and it chewed at me.

I knew what I felt for her, but did she feel the same? Was she here out of duty, or was there more? I wanted to hear those words from her, to know that her heart beats for me the way mine did for her.

I didn't ask. I couldn't. So instead, I pulled her into my arms, holding her close. Her head nestled against my chest, and I rested my chin on top of her head.

For a few moments, we just stood there, our breaths mingling, hearts beating in unison. It was enough. At least for now. Feeling her warmth against me, the stiffness slowly drained away. I tilted her chin up, meeting her gaze once more. And then, without another word, I leaned in and kissed her.

The kiss was slow at first, a gentle brush of lips, but it quickly deepened. All the emotions I'd been holding back—the anger, the fear, the need—poured into that kiss.

Rhea responded in kind, her hands sliding up my back, holding onto me like she never wanted to let go. The world outside faded away, leaving just the two of us in our own cocoon of intensity. Every touch, every movement spoke of the storm we had weathered and the strength we had found in each other.

Eventually, we pulled back, our breaths ragged and uneven. I rested my forehead against hers, trying to catch my breath. For a minute, there was nothing but the sound of our breathing and the rapid beating of our hearts. It felt like a release, a way to let go of everything that had pulled us down.

**

Rhea leaned against me, her head resting on my shoulder. We talked in hushed tones, sharing thoughts we rarely had the chance to voice.

"I'm not afraid," she said suddenly, her voice firm but gentle. "No matter what comes our way, I'll stand by you."

I turned to look at her, the sincerity in her eyes taking my breath away. "I'll protect you," I promised, my voice rough with emotion. "No matter what happens, I will always protect you."

A soft smile spread across her face, and I felt a warmth bloom in my chest. I wanted to give her something, something that showed what she meant to me.

Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out a small velvet box. Her eyes widened in surprise as I opened it to reveal a delicate necklace, a symbol of her status as Luna. It was simple but meaningful, something I had planned to give her when the time was right.

"This is for you," I said, my voice steady but filled with emotion. "A symbol of us. Of everything we stand for."

She looked at the necklace, then back at me, her eyes shining. "It's beautiful," she whispered, her fingers lightly brushing the pendant. "Thank you, Remus."

I fastened it around her neck, the silver glinting softly. It was more than just a piece of jewelry; it was a promise, a mark of our unity. As I pulled her back into my arms, I felt a sense of calm settle over us. No matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together.

**

Rhea.

I had just finished getting ready for the day, adjusting my dress one last time before stepping out of the chamber.

Today was supposed to be a new start, a chance to discuss my role as Luna with Remus. He had promised we'd go over my duties and set up my office.

I was nervous but excited. This was a big step, a sign that I was truly becoming part of this pack in every way. As I left our chamber, the cool air of the hallway greeted me.

I started descending the stairs, my thoughts occupied with the meeting ahead. But as I moved closer to the ground floor, faint, muffled voices reached my ears. My senses went on high alert, my heart skipping a beat.

I paused, focusing on the sound, letting my sensitive hearing do its work. It didn't take long for me to make out the words, and the more I listened, the colder my blood ran.

It was Elara. Despite Remus's warning yesterday, she wasn't finished scheming.

She was huddled with a few elders, speaking in low, conspiratorial tones. "We must be subtle," I heard her say, her voice carrying a venomous edge.

"Remus may be Alpha, but tradition is on our side. We can sway the pack, use customs to our advantage. He can't ignore centuries of history."

My hands tightened around the banister, my nails digging into the wood. She was planning to challenge Remus's rule again, but this time she was playing a more cunning game.

She wasn't going to confront him head-on; she was going to use manipulation and pack traditions to undermine him. My heart pounded in my chest, anger and fear twisting inside me. How far was she willing to go? How much more did we have to endure from her?

I forced myself to remain calm, even though every part of me wanted to storm into that room and confront her right then and there.

But I knew that wasn't the way to handle this. Elara thrived on confrontation; she wanted me to lose my cool. So, I swallowed my rage and turned away, heading straight for Remus's office. He needed to know what was going on, and we needed to be ready for whatever she was planning next.

As I approached the office, I heard voices inside. I hesitated for a moment, then realized Remus was speaking with Dante. I knocked once before entering, the annoyance still thrumming through my veins.

Remus looked up as I walked in, his eyes immediately narrowing as if he sensed that something was off. He exchanged a brief glance with Dante, who took the cue and rose from his seat. "We'll continue this later," Remus said to him, and Dante nodded, leaving the room without another word.

Once Dante was gone, Remus turned his full attention to me, concern etched on his face.

"Rhea, what is it?" he asked, his voice calm but with an edge of worry. I didn't waste time. I walked right up to his desk, every step filled with willpower.

"I hate to be the one to tell you this but I can't hold it. I overheard your mother," I began, trying to keep my voice steady.

"She was talking to some of the elders again, trying to manipulate them. She wants to use pack customs to challenge your rule, to undermine us." I paused, my hands trembling slightly.

"I've tried, Remus. I've tried to impress her, to be the girl she wants her son to be with, but it's never enough. She'll never accept me, will she?"

I saw a flicker of something in his eyes— rage, protectiveness, a promise of retribution.

But just as quickly, he pushed it down. He walked around the desk, closing the distance between us. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me close.

I felt his warmth, his strength, and for a moment, the world outside seemed less threatening. He didn't speak right away. Instead, he just held me, pressing a kiss to the top of my head, his breath warm against my hair.

"I'll handle it," he finally whispered against my ear, his voice steady and reassuring.

"She will not come between us, Rhea. I won't let her." I melted into his embrace, letting his words sink in. I closed my eyes, savoring the feel of him against me.

But then, he tilted my head up, his eyes searching mine for a moment before he leaned in. Our lips met, and the world around us disappeared.

The kiss was slow at first, almost tender, but it quickly deepened, becoming something more--something that spoke of need, desire, and the silent promises we made to each other.

His hands moved to my waist, pulling me closer, and I felt a rush of desire between my legs that made my skin tingle. My hands found their way to his shoulders, then slid up to his neck, holding on as if letting go would mean losing everything.

His lips were firm, demanding, and I responded with the same urgency. It wasn't just a kiss. It was a release, an affirmation that we were in this together. His tongue traced the seam of my lips, and I parted them, allowing him in, our breaths mingling in the heat of the moment. A soft moan escaped my throat as his hands roamed over my back, pressing me tighter against him.

I could feel the tension leaving his body, the anger and frustration melting away in the heat of our embrace. My hands slid down his chest, feeling the hard muscles beneath his shirt. He was everything-Alpha, protector, my husband. And in this moment, he was mine, just as much as I was his.

Remus continued kissing me, his lips nibbling on my lower lip and making me moan more and craving him more. He grabbed my waist and placed me on the desk, parting my legs. I could feel how hard he was and it just made me want him more.

He pulls back, breathing heavily as he snaked his hand into my dress, trying to pull my panties down. "Rhea," moaned out then began devouring my neck, earlobes and chest. He unzipped my dress and unhooked my bra with composed expertise, found my nipple and flicked his tongue back and forth until it went hard. I hear him unbuckling his pants.

He pulls my pants and I let him. I was too horny to even care if someone would walk in on us. All I wanted was Remus inside me and showing me how much he loved me and was willing to protect me.

I feel the tip of his thing bouncing against my thigh as he trying to position himself—poised to enter. I hold him closer, eager for him to just enter but it felt like Remus was just teasing me. I arched my back, moaning softly.

He takes his thing in his hand, guides it toward my opening, towards the hole, where the wetness gathers. He pushes into it, just enough to wet the tip. Pulls out and slides the tip up inside me, making me moan out. I wrapped my legs wound his back so he doesn't pull out again. His face buried in my neck as he breathed heavily.

I hold on tight. My arms and my legs hold on tight, because everything else is going so well.

I know he wants me to come first. But I can't. Not until he does. Not until I feel him loving me. Just me. Sinking into me. Not until I know that my flesh is all that be on his mind. That he couldn't stop if he had to.

That he would die rather than take his thing out of me. Not until he has let go of all he has, and give it to me and me alone.

When he does, I feel a power. I feel strong, I feel pretty, I feel special. And then I wait. He groaned and tosses his head.

Now I feel strong enough, pretty enough, and special enough to let him make me come.
