Capítulo 73: Chapter 73

The first Gym Battle of the day between Aizen and the Vermilion City Gym Leader started with a memorable fight. The Orayen Prince smiled brightly when he saw Lt. Surge call out an Elekid as his first Pokemon. And without thinking twice, he sent out his own Elekid.

Elektra was pumped up when she found herself against another Elekid, and she gave her best to win against her opponent, but in the end, fell short. The Gym Leader's Elekid outlasted her stamina and persevered to stay up for the next round.

Aizen was not disheartened at the result. He had expected it. Knowing her character, he knew that his little Elekid would only strive to get stronger after this loss, and he was happy with that.

The second round started between Growlithe and Elekid, where Growlithe ended it in seconds after its Flame Wheel landed squarely on the tired electric Pokemon. However, the next round gave a tough time to the orange puppy, who was up against a strong and fast Pikachu.

Pikachu kept harassing Archie with its superior speed throughout the round, but the orange puppy managed to win after it ruthlessly attacked the yellow mouse with its powerful Flare Blitz.

Archie was really pumped up after winning two rounds, but it was in for the beating of a lifetime at the hands of Gym Leader's Jolteon.

The difference in the speed was too much, and the orange puppy was totally helpless against it. It was unwilling to lose, but that was its only fate in the match.

Jolteon was strong and well-trained. However, Aizen still had two Pokemon on him that he could rely on against it. In the end, he decided to not bother the silver fox that was sleeping on his shoulder and called out Gengar.

To the surprise of both the electric Pokemon and the Gym Leader, Aizen's Gengar was able to keep up with Jolteon's speed. The electric Pokemon could not even put up a good fight as Gengar just massacred it by hitting it with a Night Shade, and then ended things with a powerful Shadow Ball.

Leaf was really pumped up after seeing Aizen receive the beautiful Thunder Badge, but she was in for a lesson that day.

She did not have a lot of options on her roster against an Electric Gym, and she was reluctant to use Flabebe against the first Pokemon of the Gym Leader, which happened to be a Pikachu. She could have used Weepinbell, but her haste to end the battle fast put her in a lot of trouble later on.

The Hazel-eyed girl called out her Exeggutor against the Pikachu, and Lt. Surge grinned ruthlessly at her.

Exeggutor made a quick work out of Pikachu but then found itself up against a Magneton. It tried its hardest, but all of its attacks were only half as effective against the Steel-Electric Pokemon, and in the end, it lost. Using Weepinbell, Pidgeotto, and Flabebe against the Magneton was not an option for the girl from Pallet Town, and she was only left with Magnezone to help her out.

Magnezone won against the Mageton, and it did not take much effort, but the spectators were surprised when the Gym Leader called out an Ampharos to fight the Magnezone. They were expecting him to use his prized Raichu, but Ampharos it was.

Anira knew exactly what was about to happen, and she was worried for her friend who was oblivious to the threat the Ampharos posed to her Magnezone.

Leaf thought that Magnezone could handle Ampharos, but her face paled after she saw Magnezone get hit by a Fire Punch and then get harassed by the evolution of Flaaffy.

The electric tank put up a good fight, and at one point, it looked like it would prevail, but then Lt. Surge called out a move that quashed Leaf's hopes.

Anira sighed when Ampharos performed Focus Blast, and the Magnezone was out cold after getting hit by it.

Leaf stood there frozen in shock at what happened, and it was only after Anira and Misty cheered for her that she regained her composure. However, she was helpless. She had no options on her roster which were safe against Ampharos, who despite being weary, could still fight.

"Bebe..."

The Flower Fairy resting on her hair comfortingly called out to her Trainer, and then stepped onto the field on its own accord.

Seeing her cute little Flabebe against an Ampharos that had just shown its might against her strongest Pokemon, clenched her heart. But she stayed strong and smiled at her Starter, who had stepped on the field for her. She no longer cared about winning the match and only wanted to help Flabebe give her best.

Surge understood the moment Flabebe stepped on the field that the young girl did not have another powerful Pokemon on her, and he signalled to his Ampharos to go easy on the little Pokemon and test out its limits.

Flabebe put up a great fight and wore out Amphros more, but nothing seemed to be in its favour. The small Flower Fairy had never been pushed so far to her limits. It was excruciating, but she was not willing to see her Trainer sad if she lost the battle. She wanted to win it for her, and Arceus seemed to have listened to her prayer.

The moment the brilliant white light engulfed the Flower Fairy, all the spectators were up on their feet, and Anira was laughing merrily at what was happening.

When the phenomenon subsided, the newly evolved Floette smiled at her opponent before performing a Lucky Chant.

The moment the Flower Fairy prepared for a beautiful Fairy Move, Lt. Surge knew it was all over.

The powerful flash of the Dazzling Gleam landed on Ampharos and stole its consciousness away, marking the end of a Gym Battle that would stay fresh in their memories for a long time.

Leaf was brimming with tears when the Referee announced the result, and she hugged Fiona tightly, letting her tears fall.

"Thank you!" She kept repeating the same words over and over again and only calmed down when Aizen placed his hand on her head and gently caressed it.

Leaf looked quite loveable when she looked up at him with her tear-stained face and smiled brightly.

"We won!" She happily said to him.

"Yes." He chuckled and patted her head some more before offering a few PokePuffs to the Flower Fairy, who happily munched on them. "You were brilliant." He praised the Fairy Pokemon.

"Floeee!" She floated up to him and rubbed her face on his cheek before continuing munching on her PokePuff.

Anira and Misty happily hugged their friend and offered some good words. Misty even praised her, but Anira refused from doing so, and Leaf knew exactly why.

"You were lucky that Flabebe evolved in the battle." Sabrina bluntly stated the truth, and Leaf lowered her head before nodding, acknowledging her words.

"I will get stronger." She determinedly spoke with a light smile. "It's time we start training Nidoran." She looked up at Aizen and said, and he smiled back at her in approval.

"You need a Fire-Type Pokemon on your roster." Sabrina pointed out. "There are a few on the Cinnabar Island."

"I will catch one!" She smiled brightly at the raven-haired girl, welcoming her suggestion and thanking her.

After receiving her Thunder Badge, she was about to suggest going for training, but Aizen, knowing her thoughts, suggested everyone take the day off.

He wanted to give the hazel-eyed girl some time to clear off her head and think critically. Right now, she was driven by her emotions, which could cloud her judgement, and training was not the solution.

Anira then informed the girls about the Masquerade Ball that they would be attending on St. Anne and then took them shopping for their dresses.

Leaf was happy for the rest of the day, and she loved the time the girls spent picking the right suit for Aizen. Anira knew his size, so it was going to be a surprise for the Orayen Prince, who was not aware of the gift he was about to receive on the night of the Ball.

Sabrina proved to be a great shopping companion as she always gave an honest evaluation of the dresses, whether they looked good on the wearer or not. And Misty, despite her reservations against the raven-haired girl, listened to her in choosing the right dress that enhanced and complemented her complexion, figure, features, and orange hair.

The girls returned to their Suite right before Dinner, and tired of all the energy they had spent on shopping, went to bed early.

Aizen was about to go to bed after his training session with Sabrina when he received a call from Joseph Stone. There were going to be a few more guests aboard St. Anne on their trip to Cinnabar Island. It was going to be the first official, in-person, meeting of their Action Team.

According to Joseph, there were going to be two new additions to their Team, in light of the recent battles, and as directed by the Order. The new members would be joining them on St. Anne.

The Orayen Prince arranged for the passes for them, and then went to sleep, not knowing what fate had in store for him.
