"I am proud of you, Leaf." Her mother, Elaine, emotionally said after the hazel-eyed girl happily informed her about her wins at the Fuschia Annual Festival and showed her the two trophies.
Unlike her daughter, she had green eyes and light brown hair, but there was an uncanny resemblance between the two, which undoubtedly deemed them mother and daughter.
"Thank you, Aizen." Elaine heartfeltly said.
"You are welcome, Aunty. I will take care of her." He assured her once again, and the lady in her late thirties gratefully nodded to him. "Will you be coming to the Pallet Town after gathering all your Gym Badges?"
"Yes." He nodded to her, which elated her and she happily chatted with her daughter and her friends and made sure that her daughter understood how happy and proud she was of her.
Elaine had raised Leaf on her own ever since her daughter was four and she lost her husband in an unfortunate accident. And as a mother, she was always worried about the future of her child.
For her child's sake, she did not remarry and showered all her attention and love on Leaf. So, it was not surprising that she was highly emotional over her daughter's win. And Leaf promised her that she will be back in Pallet Town before her birthday which was two months away.
Aizen excused himself away from the girls and joined Brock, Sabrina, and Lara at the table.
Sabrina was quiet as ever, but Brock and Lara were chatting with each other about Pokémon Breeding, a subject that interested both of them.
"Aizen, can you help convince Leaf to allow us to take care of her Tauros for a month or two?" The daughter of the Laramie Family suddenly asked.
"You intend to have her Tauros mate with your finest Miltank?" He smiled as he guessed their intentions.
"Yes." She nodded to him. "My family is willing to offer her a very high price for her Tauros, but we understand that she would not sell it to us. We are willing to pay her well and give her a lifetime discount on all the food products that our Family supplies in the region if she agrees to allow us to let her Tauros mate with our finest Miktank."
"That's very generous of you. And that means that you intend to make her an honorary member of your Family." He lightly smiled. "And being an Honorary Member of your Family would make Leaf hold some responsibilities towards you."
Lara nodded to her, feeling a little embarrassed for trying to keep some information from him.
"I am sorry but I can not help you convince Leaf. The Tauros is hers and she will make her decision." He straightforwardly said.
His words disappointed her a little but she understandably nodded her head.
Ash, who had also been chatting with his mother and Professor Oak on the call, returned to the table and sat down.
"Feeling better now?" Brock smiled and asked.
"Yes. My goal is the Pokémon League, and I will focus on it now. I won't lose again!" He confidently declared.
"You should give some more credit to yourself. You managed to come in the top 10 in the Free-For-All. And that is a great feat in itself." Aizen said, and everyone except for Sabrina nodded to his words.
"Thanks, Aizen." The boy Pallet Town brightly smiled after hearing his words. "Up for a battle? I want to see how strong your Scyther has become and your Lapras too."
"I don't have Scyther on me right now. And Lapras is resting. Maybe another time?"
"I will take your word for it." Ash nodded and then looked at the girls who were returning to the table. "Leaf, let's have a Pokémon Battle! The festival is over so we can battle now..."
"No, thanks." The hazel-eyed girl cut him off and shook her head.
"Come on!"
"I don't want to battle right now." She shook her head. "Or today."
"Why not?"
"I just don't." She narrowed her eyes at him, and Ash now felt a little awkward.
"Okay." He depressedly said and sat down.
"Sorry to keep you guys waiting." Leaf turned to look at everyone else at the table. "The meal is on me! Eat whatever you want."
"Yay!" Anira happily clapped her hand and Ash enthusiastically yelled at her announcement.
"Thanks, Leaf!"
"You are welcome." She said to him and then took her seat at the table.
"Leaf, there is something important that I need to discuss with you." Lara suddenly said, catching the hazel-eyed girl's attention.
"If you want to buy my Tauros, I am not selling him." She shook her head.
"No, that's not it..." Lara then proceeded to tell her about the offer her Family was making, but to her disappointment, Leaf adamantly shook her head.
"I am sorry, Lara. But I need Tauros to stay with me so that I can train him for the Indigo Conference."
"Then after Indigo Conference?" She hopefully asked.
"No." The hazel-eyed girl shook her head again.
"Is money the issue..."
"It's not the money, Lara. Would you give me your Rapidash for a month or two?" She smiled and asked, and the daughter of the Laramie Family hesitated to answer.
"See, we do not know each other well. I am not willing to just hand over my Tauros to your Family to take care of it."
"But my Family..."
"I am not calling your family untrustworthy. Also, I am being sponsored by a Lab, and all my Pokémon must stay there when they are not on me. I have to abide by the contract I signed."
"Oh." Her words made Lara frown. She was really curious to ask who was sponsoring Leaf, but the hazel-eyed suddenly said something that caught her off-guard.
"Why don't you sell one of your finest Miktank to me?" Leaf said to the surprise of everyone at the table. "I will pay for it and will give you one of her future baby Tauros when it turns three months old."
Her offer confused Lara, and she frowned.
Leaf stayed silent, and no one else said anything as well, other than one guy.
"Are Miltank good in battles?" Ash curiously asked.
"Depends on how she has been raised. Usually, Miltank can prove to be a decent battle Pokémon." Brock informed him.
"Oh..." The boy from Pallet Town looked at the Pokémon's information on his dex. "Wow, 3 to 5 gallons of milk every day."
"Only when they are about to have babies. It's usually 2 and a half gallons every day." The dark-skinned boy shook his head and informed him. "The milk is very notorious for Pokémon, especially the young Pokémon and human babies as it helps them grow very healthy. When a Miltank has babies, its milk becomes tastier and more nutritious as well. It's a very prized delicacy."
Aizen nodded to Brock's words and then turned to look at Lara, who was still thinking over Leaf's suggestion.
"I will get back to you in an hour." She suddenly said and stood up before leaving them inside the Restaurant.
"So, Brock, what's your next plan?" Misty curiously asked.
"We are heading to Cinnabar Island," Ash replied. "One more gym and I will have 8 badges for the league. And Brock told me that once I get 8 badges, my Roster will increase by 1, which means that I will be able to keep 7 Pokémon on me!" He excitedly said.
"How did you even pass your License Exam if you needed Brock to tell you about it?" Leaf frowned. "It's common knowledge that a Trainer with B-Class or A-Class License can have their Roster increased by 1 or 2 when they either collect 5 Ribbons or 8 Badges."
"And you have a C-Class License. You won't get that perk." Misty reminded him. "Unless you apply for License Upgrade. And a C-Class Trainer needs 8 Badges, lots of Positive Stars on his profile, and five recommendations from A-Class+ Trainers, and only one of them can be from your family."
"I talked with Professor Oak and he said that he will help me with the License Upgrade. I already have Brock, Mom, and Professor Oak to recommend me. Need only two more and Professor said that he would arrange for them."
"Oh." The orange-haired girl nodded to him. "But do you have enough Positive Stars?"
"No, but we will get them after I collect my 8th Badge." Ash confidently said. "Man, you are lucky Leaf. You will be able to get 2 additional spots on your Roster after your 8th Badge." He smiled at his classmate.
"I know." She nodded to him. "I worked hard to get my A-Class License." She said with a sweet smile, but the boy from Pallet Town felt that her words were rather cold, which put him in an awkward position.
Leaf did not tell him that she already had 2 additional spots on her License thanks to the Silver Perks, and after she gets her 8th Badge, she would get 2 additional spots which would increase her Roster to 10 Pokémon. She was sure that if she told him, Ash would start screaming and would make things very difficult for Professor Oak. And she did not want that to happen.
Everyone had their lunch, and then Ash and Brock took their leave.
"I will see you at the Pallet Town next time!" Ash brightly said to Leaf, and the Hazel-eyed girl only nodded to him.
"So, what's up with the sudden interest in a Miltank?" Aizen curiously asked after Brock and Ash were gone.
"We have lots of young Pokémon on us. I think we need a Miltank." She giggled and said. "And I also said it so that she would stop pestering me."
"I see." He smiled at her and patted her head. "But do you know how much one of the finest Miltank they have would cost you?"
"150k?" She guessed.
"No." He shook his head.
"200k?" She frowned, a little apprehensive in her heart.
"Around 250k." He told her.
Leaf's mouth dropped open when she heard his words.
"Why so expensive?!" She exclaimed.
"Because they are not just battle Pokémon but also producers of the milk that people pay very high prices for." He smirked at her. "Did not think everything through, eh?"
"Should I..."
"No, you can't take your words back." He shook his head. "I will pay for it."
"No, Aizen."
"Don't worry." He smiled and nudged her nose. "You can pay me back by giving me a baby Tauros and a Miltank."
"You have Miltank and Tauros at the Blanc Island." Sabrina reminded him.
"Yes." He nodded to her and smiled at her. "But getting two more won't hurt. It's a good investment."
Leaf felt a little warm in her heart and brightly smiled.
"Thank you, Aizen!" She stepped forward and hugged him.
"You are welcome."
