The Elemental Rock chest revealed a chest made up of and imprinted with stones. Leon sighed in relief; this was his main purpose in entering the cave.
The cave had many pathways, but the map didn't show anything of value within. Perhaps this map could be upgraded, allowing him to see things other than pathways and hidden ones.
"Guys, there's a hidden path behind this rubble of rocks that we need to inspect." Leon had a good feeling about this.
They would continue to explore more, but they decided to set up camp here. Afterward, Leon summoned Sandshrew to assist with the rock removal work.
"There's a hidden path behind this crumbled wall?" Lars could see several small to large rocks and stones littering the ground, so it was possible.
"Yes, Beldum told me there's a hidden path behind there. This is why Psychic Pokémon are crucial, they can sense many things around you, even people with ill intentions"
Beldum didn't tell him anything about any pathway, but the other things he mentioned were true.
"It looks like I'll have to get my hands on a Psychic Pokémon." Leona believed Psychic Pokémon to be the best type in her opinion.
They had already begun to set up camp; they were happy they didn't run into any Zubat. Zubat didn't seem to be this deep into the cave; at least, not at the moment.
Lights were hung around the area to brighten the place up, much to Sableye's dismay.
"Hey, can you both go and capture a few Geodude, at least three of them? We'll need them to help move some of these rocks."
Leon wondered if they were willing to go back and capture some Geodude. He was willing to give them his Beldum and Shroomish to help apprehend them.
"Sure! "Both Lars and Leona agreed to go back and capture a few. Just like that, they left and Leon was left with a few Pokémon.
"Sandshrew, you can start moving a few away from here. Before that, eat something first." Leon handed Sandshrew a few snacks before it got back to work.
Sableye helped, it was adept at tearing through rock with its claws. While they were doing that, Leon opted to check his Elemental Rock Chest.
Leon activated the virtual screen, unveiling a rotation Rocky Chest. After clicking the chest, a familiar sentence showed on display.
[Would you like to open Elemental Rock Chest? y/n?]
[Ding! Opening Elemental Rock Chest...]
______
[Congratulations, you've received a Dusk Stone!]
[Congratulations, you've received a Claw Fossil!]
[Congratulations, you've received a TM-Sandstorm!]
[Congratulations, you've received a ₱2,500!]
______
"Haha, these rewards are the best so far; they are much better than the Water Chest one!" Leon knew it was RNG, so this didn't mean the Rock Chests were better than water. He jumped in excitement when he saw his list of rewards.
Leon was especially delighted with the Claw Fossil. He would be able to collect the fossils to finish his Pokédex entries.
Leon gazed at the crumbled wall, observing the ground covered with rocky debris. He intended to summon Sableye and inquire about the cause of the wall's collapse. It seemed unlikely that it was an earthquake, as the island's inhabitants would have surely noticed.
However, even if he called Sableye over and asked; he wouldn't understand it anyway. Leon didn't plan to go home today; they would stay in the cave for at least a day or two.
'I'll help a little until the Geodude comes to assist.' Leon decided to help Sandshrew, Nosepass, and Sableye.
Nosepass was smashing rocks with its mouth instead of throwing them aside. Its arms were not as adept at moving objects as well as the others.
Leon had taken out three pickaxes from his inventory, he didn't know how he'd explain their appearance.
"Sab...Sableye!" Suddenly, Sableye grew excited about something and started pointing at the rubble.
Unfortunately, Leon couldn't understand what it was saying; so he could only wait for Leon and Lars to return.
Leon and his Pokémon were making decent progress; Sableye's speed picked up, as it seemed eager about something.
An hour later, Leona and Lars returned with smiles across their faces. They had caught seven Geodude, and it would have been eight if Beldum hadn't eaten one.
Leon's mouth twitched, was this the reason they took so long?
"Wow, you've made so much progress already; it's almost about cleared." Leona was stunned at the swift progress.
"It's all thanks to these guys, they're so fast and efficient at work." Leon especially pointed toward Sabaleye, who seemed possessed at working.
"This big mouth Pokémon is working the hardest and the fastest; and it isn't even related to the earth typing." Lars laughed, mocking Sandshrew and Nosepass to some extent.
Leon shook his head and turned to question Beldum about a few things. Beldum stated that it could somewhat detect many shiny objects on the other side of this wall.
Leon's heart began to palpitate upon hearing this information. It dawned on Leon that Sableye was probably trying to get these treasures and eat them!
'You little clown, you're trying to eat my money!' Leon looked at the little prankster and sneered in his heart.
It was no wonder it was working so hard. Sableye loved gems, it was supreme nourishment for it. This was probably why its talent was so high, this mine seemed to have a lot of good things.
The Geodude were in the process of healing from the oran berry juice. Leon didn't give them revives and would save these for emergencies.
Once the Geodude recovered from their battle, they began moving rocks. Leon saw that one of the Geodude had an F++ aptitude, which was a bit surprising in this climate.
"Where did you get those pickaxes?" Leona came over and saw the three pickaxes leaning against the rocky wall.
"Oh, I found them in the cave when you left, I also found another fossil." Leon, of course, blatantly lied about the matter.
"What? You found another fossil?" Lars sighed deeply. Why was his brother and sister so fortunate?
He really wanted a fossil of his own and wouldn't sell it. Now that they were possibly about to strike it big, he didn't have any thought of selling such a thing.
"What type of fossil is it?" Leona asked.
"It's the opposite of your fossil, it's called the Claw fossil." Leon didn't hide anything and told them the truth.
Leon went on to explain the typing of both fossils once they were revived.
They both listened attentively and through listening, Leona discovered she would have to make a decision. She would have to choose between a Shroomish and a Lileep. She refused to use a monotype team to balance her team and opted for variety.
"Lileep sounds like a better option than Shroomish." Leona's words sought Lars and Leon's opinion on the matter.
"It's a better option, there are better fighting Pokémon available for use. Though, Shroomish isn't a bad option; there are better options."
Leon knew Makuhita and Meditite were some really good options. If Leona wanted, she could even opt to get herself a Machop.
"I need to use a fighting, it isn't all that important to me." Leona shook her head, she didn't need to add a fighting type to her team.
"Well, that's not bad either." Leon shrugged in agreeance.
The Pokémon group persisted in clearing the rock debris, with the Geodude demonstrating exceptional teamwork. After a couple of hours of effort and occasional breaks, they eventually glimpsed the opposite side.
"Sab...Sableye!" Sableye jumped in excitement before breaking out into a sprint toward the small entrance.
"Oh, no you don't!" Leon hurriedly recalled Sableye back into its Pokéball. This little guy was trying to eat what it could before they made it there themselves.
"We can see little lights glowing throughout the cave. Are these gems and ores of some sort?"
They could all see through the hole and there appeared to be gems and ores within this cave system.
"This is likely the case, after all, Beldum said it had detected many good things. We should keep digging until we gain access to the other side."
Leon was secretly elated. He could vaguely see many glow gemstones embedded in those walls. Leon's vision was fairly good but he didn't have night vision. However, he was curious about what these gems or ores could be.
The Pokémon got the work and continued. Some rock fell down and covered the entrance, but that didn't deter them. After two hours of work; they finally managed to clear out the debris of rocks.
'My Gosh, the destroyed wall entrance is about five meters deep! Who could have caused so much destruction to this wall?'
Leon was stunned, this cave system probably would have never been discovered if not for whatever caused it.
"Ready the lanterns, let's explore guys!" Leon eagerly said.
"Yes!" They both reply with joy and anticipation. Leona pulled out one last lantern from her backpack, while Lars pulled two from his.
"Hohoho! I can smell the money, haha!" Lars was most overjoyed, he imagined himself as some rich big shot surrounded by all types of tasty delicacies.
He drooled at the thought.
"Let's advance carefully. Geodude, you guys grab a Pickaxe each and follow us."
Leon ordered before commanding Beldum and the rest of the Pokémon to form a protective circle around him and his siblings. There was no telling what was inside this cave, so he had to act with caution.
Leon on the other hand, pulled out a flashlight. Afterward, he quickly analyzed the ores and gems on the wall.
[Platnium]
[Gold]
[Sapphires]
[Rubys]
[Emeralds]
[Diamonds]
"How can these all be in one place at the same time, this is crazy!" Leon was shocked. There was so much of it on the walls—throughout the cave.
"Everywhere I look I see some valuable gem or ore; this is a friggin treasure trove!" Lars's body shivered, they were truly rich now!
If anyone were to find out about this, they would surely go crazy. It would bring unwanted attention and many would snatch them.
"No! We can't let anyone find out about this. We have to reap all of this to ourselves, lest we lose the opportunity!" Leona spoke with determination.
Several doors had closed to them over the years, but a golden door had finally opened up to them.
They couldn't blow it!
"Of course, I won't blow this opportunity and go running my mouth. What's important now is mining and taking these ore away."
Leon thought for a moment and found that the best option would be to capture Pokémon to assist. Right as Leon was pondering this to himself; the ground began to shake uncontrollably.
'Something is coming, it's here again!' Beldum warned frantically.
"Careful!" Leon heard Beldum's warning and said.
Rumble!
Rumble!
"What's going on? Why is the ground shaking?!" Leona was stunned and tried to keep her footing.
"Crap! Is this an earthquake?! At a time like this?!" Lars was furious. Was their golden door going to shut just like that?
Out of nowhere, the earth split open, and a gigantic figure emerged from below. This being had a lengthy and immense snake-like body, made up of large rocks forming its segmented body.
This Pokemon couldn't be anything other than Onix!
Leon's eyes dilated. Onix's massive body was no doubt intimidating. Its large eyes peered down at the group, there was no telling what it was thinking.
Leona was terrified, what type of Pokémon was this? She couldn't recall seeing something this huge within the guidebook. Lars was shocked instead, his eyes were twitching nonstop.
Leon quickly analyzed it.

Leon's jaw dropped, this Onix wasn't something to be trifled with. Its aptitude was so high, did it enjoy these gems and ores to itself this whole time?!
'How long has this guy been down here?' This was the highest aptitude had ever seen so far besides his Beldum!
There was no doubt that section was this guy's territory.
"Everyone prepared for battle!" Leon's expression turned serious. He knew it shouldn't be so easy.
Riches always came with danger!
