Max's Point of View

I looked over at Scarlet who was now sitting by the side of the bed. She still looked confused about things, but she could be convinced.

"Hey, Scar. I was thinking, you know, with everything… that we should get out of this place tomorrow. Go somewhere and have fun, you know?" I suggested. If I could take her as far away from Xavier as possible, any hopes of her memory returning would fade.

"Uh…" She thought for a moment. "Don't you think that Drew will miss school one too many times?"

I exhaled. "Right. So we'll go in the summer break. Okay?"

"Perfect." She gave me a smile she hadn't given in a long time. I had realised everything that went on between Xavier and Scarlet just a few days earlier. She was waiting for him, playing pretend with me to pass the time.
