Capítulo 2: The First Date
"The first time is always a disaster and starts with a mess but ends perfectly."
On Saturday morning, the alarm rings!!! As usual, I was sleeping till 10 a.m. and saw my memo. I just remembered that Nikita invited me to the Palace Cafe to spend the weekend together. And I was like, "Man!!! Not again." Today, someone gave me an invitation. I was just sleeping like Snorlax in my home. I got up and brushed my teeth. I took a shower in a rush and put my hands in the almirah. Whatever came into my hand, I grabbed it out, got ready, and then rushed toward the cafe.
Meanwhile, here, Nikita was also late as usual. She also woke at 9:30 a.m. and saw her memo. She also remembered Suraj and got ready for dress-up. It was her first time inviting a boy for a date.
"Ahh!!! What would be the best choice to wear? It's my first date. I can't mess up like my other weekdays. It is very confusing for me. Oh, gawd!!! Why do people have to get ready for dates?"It took her nearly an hour to decide what to wear.
"Crap!!! I am going to be late. Relax; it's just a meet-up. Thankfully, I woke up on time; otherwise, I could have screwed up. Come to think of it, why would she invite me to the cafe to spend the rest of the day just with me?"This guy is completely clueless about what she exactly wants and what she has planned for today.
Meanwhile, I was overthinking and running to catch the bus. Here, Nikita was ready and just about to leave. "Okay, everything is done. Now it's time to leave. Wait a second!!! I must be forgetting something important. But what don't I know? Anyway, just leave it, and let's arrive at the cafe. I'm already late; he must be waiting for me. I should be more careful, as I invited him." Hence, she leaves for the cafe and locks the door of her apartment.
Meanwhile, I was here at the metro station. "Phew!!! I am on time now. I should be there in a few minutes because the cafe is located near the metro station at a walking distance of 300 meters. So, according to my calculation, this is the fastest route for the trip." His calculative skills might save him from the consequences, but fate wanted something else. His luck pushes him into a situation where the metro stops. Having a waterfall in his eyes, he was thinking. "No no no no!!!! This should not be happening today. Fate doesn't want me to be settled with a loving and caring wife and children. Today is not my day."
Here, Nikita is halfway through remembering something. "Oh no!!! I forgot to put on make-up. I should have done that earlier." Now that she had arrived at the station, she left the train and went to the washroom to put on some makeup. "It shouldn't take that much time. Just a light make-up and lipstick are enough for now." After finishing up, she checked the time and left from the station to arrive at the cafe.
Here, Suraj also arrives at the station. "Crap!!! I'm late; I should have arrived earlier. She surely must've left until now. Should I call her? No!!! She might get furious if I call and apologize for being late. I should also arrive there instead of apologizing." I also left the station and arrived at the cafe.
"Finally, I'm on time. But, where is she?" I was trying to find her in the cafe. But I didn't know where she was. So I waited for her. After waiting for an hour, I checked my phone, and I saw 7 missed calls and 21 text messages about me being late. She mentioned that she was inside the cafe, and I was waiting outside at the entrance. I cursed myself for being stubborn. I get back to my senses and get inside the cafe. After entering the cafe, I saw that I was welcomed, and the inside view of the cafe was stunning. They greeted me by welcoming me, and one of them pointed his finger towards Nikita. He whispered in my ears. "That beautiful woman standing next to table no. 4 is booked by her, and she told me to inform you not to worry about being late." After whispering, another person said, "Sir, please come with me."
I was confused about what was happening, but when I arrived at the table, I saw Nikita very closely, and I was stunned by her looks. I just kept watching her. She was talking about being late from her side too, but I ignored everything and was just watching her.
She snapped me out of my dreams, and then she said, "Were you even listening? Why are you so late? You know that it was the date, and you forgot about the invitation.. Nikita was furious at me, as I thought, but her beauty was worth letting me listen to her scolding. Her clothes matched the vibe of the cafe, and her angry voice just made her fall even deeper for her. I realized that I was screwing up, so I gained my senses back and then said, "Sorry, it has been my habit since I started working for the company. I only had weekends for relaxing, so I woke up late and I thought you were coming, so I waited outside. I'm sorry for being stubborn and making you wait for so long." After listening to my apology, Nikita calmed down, and she also apologized.
As we both arrived, I was looking all around and observing the cafe. I didn't observe everything at first because I was nervous about being late, but after calming down, I noticed the aroma of the cafe and the inside view of the cafe. I was stunned and never imagined that this kind of cafe existed in our city. Also, Nikita's attire matched the theme of the cafe. It seemed like Nikita had planned everything for today.
But I was still clueless until I realized what she said: "Hey, what are you looking at? Don't you know it's a date? Why are you so hesitant?"
"Ahem!!! What, a date? She invited me today for a date. How am I supposed to react? The last time we met, she had a different aura, but right now she is completely in a dating mode. I didn't wear good clothes either. I might be looking pity on her." As always, I was overthinking and messed up at the start of the conversation. Just listening to the word 'date' made me even more hesitant.
Here, Nikita was thinking about Suraj. "Omg!!! How simple is this guy? He is looking so good in his regular outfit. I wasted my time and money on all of this. If I knew that he was not stylish, then I couldn't have spent more time on make-up and this theme, along with my dress. I hate myself for being stubborn. I messed up on my first date. I am falling for this man even more. No!!! Nikita, focus on the date; just snap out of your dreams."
I kept looking at her. As we ordered our first dish from the menu, I noticed a few things even more. Nikita was wearing an informal white dress on top, and for bottoms, she was wearing an A-type skirt with a black checkered pattern on it, which was matched with today's theme cafe. She looked so beautiful that it made my heart race. Her lustrous eyes could kill any stone-hearted guy in a second, and her curled hair also made her even more attractive. Her perfume and the aroma of the Palace Cafe made my heart skip a beat. I was falling for even more and more. My nervousness about the date faded away just by looking at her.
"Sir??, ma'am?? Your order has arrived."
"Oh!!! Sorry, my mistake." We both said it at the same time.
Nikita and I blushed as our hands touched while taking the order. She said, "Sorry!!! I will sit."
Meanwhile, she was blushing. I was also blushing at the same time, and then we had the same reaction.
"I wish she was my girlfriend." (Suraj)
"I wish he was my boyfriend." (Nikita)
This ended as we sat down and our phones rang up with notifications about the work.
After that, we both ate up and had our coffee. While taking a sip, she asked, "What about today's plan? Should we go somewhere else?"
As she asked, I was confused about how I should reply, so I said, "I have nothing on my mind right now. I didn't expect it to be a date. I thought you were just asking about spending time related to work, but it was a date. I swear that I was clueless about all of this. If I had been smart enough to understand, I could have dressed up too." After hearing that, Nikita was silent, and I thought that I had screwed up, but things turned out differently.
"Hahaha!!!! Oh, gawd!!! So you were hesitant about today? You were thinking about me being angry with you for these silly things. I never focus on these things myself. It was my first date too, and I thought that, being a hard worker and having a great personality, you had a taste, but it wasn't. I was also being nervous and overthinking about my overdoing things, but I think it was your first time like this." Listening to those words, I could tell that she was being honest about herself.
My reaction was, "What? It was her plan. She was also nervous, like me. We are so similar in terms of everything. Wait a minute. If she is this beautiful in this dress-up, then she must be cuter in normal clothing too."
"Okay!!! But still, I'm sorry for being clueless about the date stuff and also sorry for all this trouble." Listening made her have a different reaction.
"Why are you apologizing? Don't apologize for everything. The best thing I like about you right now is that you are being very honest, and still your tone is the same, just like you have in the office, and I must say that you impressed me."
Listening to that last line made me skip a heartbeat again. I felt like I was in the heavens.
From there, we finished up and planned for the rest of the day. We also ignored the notification for today.
