Alisha Chuma (POV)

I stood in front of the mirror as I looked obsessively at my figure.

If there was one thing that I was proud of, it was my body. It was so fit, tightened and above all looked younger than my age.

“I have invested so much into this!” I muttered as I raised my hand to caress my stomach.

My hand moved slowly upwards until it was over my beating heart.

I closed my eyes for a while and listened as my heart beat slowly and then faster at intervals.

I opened my eyes and smiled with satisfaction. So, what if my heartbeat was irregular, as long as it was beating, then I was cool with everything?

I looked at my chest and nodded in satisfaction upon seeing that there were so many signs of that particular scar reemerging. It’s been over two decades and the scar still remained.

Fortunately, there was Mama who knew how to brew wonderful concoctions that could make all scars go away, though mine was a little nut to crack.

“Creak.”
