Flevance, the city which was famous in the entire world for the medical geniuses it used to produce. Well at least that's what her father had said to her, when he encouraged her big brother law to study instead of playing with her. That was the main reason why Lami also started studying in medical field from a young age. She wanted to make her father proud even if she is a girl.
But later she found out something about her city. Surgeons were not the reason why the country was so wealthy.
It was not only the city famous for it's surgeons but also for Amber lead.
Amber Lead was a white ore that was found only in the country of Flevance.
It was a naturally occurring ore that made the soil and plants of the land where it was found a beautiful shade of white.
Products containing Amber Lead possessed a shiny white coating that made it a highly coveted mineral. The mineral would be used to color a wide range of products, including wall paint, pottery, makeup, and weapons.
That was the main reason why Flevance was one of the most wealthy Nations in the north blue and in the entire world.
Mining operations in Flevance has allowed the city's economy to flourish.
Lami often wondered why there city was nicknamed as "white City". At first her thoughts were that the city was named after the beautiful white buildings and represented the white coat of the doctors.
But the right answer was waiting for her with a cruel smile.
She has never starved. Being the child of one of the best and famous surgeon in the entire country, she didn't know how hard life could be.
The country was prosperous. Her father told her that he was proud of her when she scored full marks in the basic medical knowledge test same as her brother Law.
She has a happy full family.
But suddenly, everything changed.
Ironically enough, the ore that was the cause behind Flevance becoming the most wealthy city in the entire North blue, became the cause of the kingdom's downfall.
Lami remembered the troubled look on her father's face when a rumour about an incurable disease started to rise in the City.
But who knew that her happy family would be destroyed in one day.
She remembered the pain she felt due to a few white spots on her body. She knew that currently her father had no cure for the disease. He was just giving her hope so that she wouldn't break.
Honestly she wasn't afraid of death. It was an odd concept. But she was quite happy as long as her family stayed by her side during her last time. Her mother, her father and her brother, she just wanted them to be happy. To not get contaminated by the disease.
But suddenly one day her life turned into hell.
She didn't remember exactly what had happened. But she remembered bullets raining down on everyone in the city. Her mother's last words to stay alive, her father's last heart warming smile and her brother's words to run away.
It was like she was in her worst nightmare. She just wanted to die. She just wanted to go where her family was. That's why she covered herself in the embrace of the body of her mother and father. Just hoping, that the people who were, killing them would find her and kill her.
And yet she found herself in the middle of the ocean on a wrecked dingy. She didn't know how she ended up there. She just cried herself to sleep. Hopefully a seaking would give her a quick death so that she could finally be with her family. But when that didn't happen she just decided to drown herself to death. So she jumped into the sea. Her last thoughts before her vision blacking out were her mother's last words.
"Law, Lami, stay alive*sob*sob*"
'Sorry, mom, I can't listen to your words. I just want to be with you.'
...
"Hey ! What's that girl trying to do ?" Silver shouted after looking in her telescope.
"Silver, save her !" Hancock ordered. Silver didn't need to be told twice she immediately threw away her telescope in the hands of Gloriosa and jumped into the water.
After a few minutes of waiting, she finally came back with a child.
"Is that a little girl ?" Gloriosa asked even after knowing the obvious.
"She is ! It seems that she is unconscious. Take her to the inner quarters. Clean up a room for her. I want to know why she was trying to kill herself." Hancock ordered. She was looking with her own telescope when the little girl jumped into the sea from her already wrecked dingy.
"please, just kill me...i don't want to live...i...I am from the contaminated City. You should tell me or you will be contaminated by a incurable disease." The girl said weakly before passing away.
Everyone in the Silver pearl became silent after hearing her words.
"Take her in. Let's just give her a first aid treatment. I will talk with her once she is conscious again." Hancock's words brought them back to reality and immediately Silver took the girl inside the quarters.
...
Lami opened her eyes to find herself in a dimly lit room. At first she was very confused. But then the pain from her body brought her back from her confusion. She immediately started crying when she realised that she has failed to die yet again.
She didn't know why she was failing to die again and again. Life was more painful to her.
But it seems that the world is persisting her to suffer even more.
*Knock*knock*
After knocking twice a woman entered the room.. From the movement in the room, Lami could guess that, she was in a ship. Considering that she has around in a sea, it was the most probable answer.
"Are you awake ?" The woman asked Lami.
"Yes..." Lami answer weakly.
The women fully came inside the room along with a plate full of food. "I am Sheel, the cook in this ship. This is your meal. Captain wants to talk with you once you finish eating." Sheel put down the plate in front of Lami. But she blankly stared at her food without understanding what was happening to her.
