Capítulo 40: *One Piece: A Side Story – The Forgotten Isle (Part 40)*

The ground trembled as the colossal golem lumbered toward the Straw Hat Pirates, its massive stone fists crashing down with the force of a small mountain. The crew barely managed to dodge the first few strikes, the ground splitting beneath their feet as the golem's hands smashed into the earth, sending shockwaves through the island.

Luffy grinned, his eyes wide with excitement. "This is what I've been waiting for! Gomu Gomu no—"

"Wait, Luffy!" Robin shouted, her voice urgent. "Don't destroy it yet! There's something controlling these creatures, and we need to figure out what before we do anything rash!"

Zoro's swords clashed against the stone golem's hide as he tried to carve through it, but the creature's thick exterior barely even scratched. "There's no way we're getting through this with brute force alone!" he grunted.

Sanji kicked a smaller golem that had charged toward him, sending it flying across the clearing. "Then what do we do? We can't just stand here and let these things crush us!"

Robin, her eyes narrowed with concentration, took a step back, holding the artifact tightly against her chest. The object hummed softly, as though reacting to the massive creatures surrounding them. "There's a connection between the golems and the artifact. I think this island was built as a kind of guardian system. If we can figure out what's causing the golems to attack, we might be able to stop them."

As the golem reached down to strike again, Chopper's eyes widened. "I think I know something! The island's not just sending out golems randomly—there's a pulse, a signal! It's coming from deep within the island!"

Nami's eyes lit up as she analyzed the situation. "So the island itself is controlling them? That's crazy! How are we supposed to stop that?"

"I have an idea," Robin said, a slight edge to her voice. "We need to find the source of the pulse. If we can disrupt it, the golems will stop moving."

Before anyone could respond, the largest golem, its eyes glowing brighter than before, raised both of its massive fists and slammed them into the ground, creating a shockwave that knocked the crew off their feet.

"Ugh, this is getting worse!" Usopp grunted, barely managing to regain his footing. "We need to do something, and fast!"

Luffy sprang to his feet, his face determined. "We don't need to know everything right now. We just need to make sure we beat these things down first!" He dashed toward the golem, his body stretching as he prepared for his next attack.

"Gomu Gomu no… Stamp!" Luffy shouted, slamming his foot down onto the ground and sending a shockwave of his own into the golem's body. The force of the strike cracked the golem's stone exterior, but it only staggered back slightly. It was clear that brute force alone wouldn't win this fight.

Robin's face was still tense as she observed the golem's movements. "Luffy, wait!" she called. "You're just making it more angry. We need to reach the heart of the island to stop this."

Luffy paused mid-punch and turned back to her. "Alright, I get it! But first, we need to clear the way!"

Zoro and Sanji were already in the thick of the fight, taking on smaller golems with their usual precision. Zoro swung his swords in wide arcs, cutting through the smaller creatures like a storm. "We'll hold them off. You go after the source."

"Good idea!" Luffy grinned, his eyes alight with determination. "Let's do this, team!"

With that, the crew split up. Zoro and Sanji continued to battle the golems, clearing the way for the others to move. Robin and Chopper moved together toward the center of the island, where the pulsing energy seemed to originate.

As they ran, Robin's thoughts raced. The golems had been designed as protectors, yes, but they were also a trap. Whoever had built this island had ensured that the artifact—now in their possession—would trigger the golems' activation, and that the only way to stop them would be to uncover the truth buried deep within the island itself.

"Do you think we can make it in time?" Chopper asked, his small hooves hitting the ground rapidly as he kept up with Robin.

"I hope so," Robin replied, her voice steady despite the urgency. "We can't let this spiral out of control. If the artifact is truly connected to this, it may be the key to stopping the golems—and anyone else who wants to take it from us."

They arrived at a massive, ancient stone door deep within the heart of the island, hidden beneath the dense jungle. It was covered in moss and vines, almost completely obscured from sight. But the hum of energy was unmistakable here.

Chopper's eyes widened as he examined the door. "This is it, Robin! This is where the pulse is coming from!"

Robin placed her hand on the stone, feeling the strange, otherworldly power flowing through the door. "It's locked," she said, "but I can feel the artifact reacting to it. If I can connect with it, we might be able to open this."

She stepped forward, holding the artifact up to the stone door. As the artifact came into contact with the ancient structure, the ground beneath them rumbled once more, and the golems around the island froze, their eyes dimming.

"Did it work?" Chopper asked, his voice filled with hope.

Robin nodded slowly, her gaze intense. "It's working. But we're not out of danger yet. This is only the beginning."

Suddenly, the door creaked open, revealing a massive chamber inside. At its center was an enormous, glowing crystal, pulsating with the same energy that had animated the golems. The crystal's light flickered like a heartbeat, its glow casting long shadows across the chamber.

"This is it," Robin whispered. "The source of everything."

Before she could move further, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind her. She spun around, her heart racing. The artifact had led them here, but they weren't alone. A figure stood in the doorway, cloaked in shadow.

"You shouldn't have come here," the figure said, their voice cold and menacing. "Now you've unleashed something you can't control."
