Capítulo 39: New School
However, Charles was running a school filled with runaways with powers that could legitimately allow them to take over the country. His worries were endless, and he understood why he was nagging him.
Even though he was wrong for leaving without permission, considering he was the most dangerous of all in the mansion, he didn't plan on making it easy for Charles either.
"You're the master telepath. How many teens ask their parents before they go to a party or somewhere dangerous?"
"You know you don't have to be correct."
"Ah, it's the beauty of being me," David replied, swiping his hand through his hair with a proud smile on his face.
"Both of you are on kitchen duty."
"What? No!" David shouted almost immediately as he jumped to his feet.
"What's kitchen duty?" Jean asked, confused.
"See, you do such a good job that no one even knows these jobs exist," Charles said before leaving.
Watching Charles leave, David felt the urge to teleport him into the sun, but then he would be held responsible for his death.
Sigh.
"I knew I should have given Chthon a painful death," David complained as though it would change anything.
"What does that have to do with your punishment?"
"Yours? You mean 'our' punishment."
"Hey, you were the one who dragged me out there; I would never have gone on my own!" Jean said as she began feigning innocence.
"Nope, it's our punishment," David said as he immediately picked her up, fireman-style, and began walking into the kitchen.
Kitchen duty wasn't difficult; most of the people in the mansion took care of their dishes after eating. The problem was the never-ending nature of the work.
When you felt you were done, you would see multiple others, or when you were finished, you found that you hadn't eaten, so you would eat. Essentially, there was always work to do in the kitchen.
Entering the kitchen, David resigned himself to his fate as he quickly began to wash the dishes and clean every aspect of the kitchen as best as he could.
A week later, David could be seen standing in an open lot. The wind blew by with gentle ferocity as the trees swayed peacefully around him.
"Why don't you come teach at my school? I believe your knowledge would be more accepted there," a voice said, despite the lack of any other person in the area.
"I should be telling you the same. This place is more hidden, and truthfully, our curriculum would benefit you more," David replied with a laugh.
"Kamar-Taj has been the leading school of magic and magical defense on Earth. I do not wish to see your school overtake us," the voice said again before a loud crack was heard.
Turning around, David saw the space behind him crack and shatter as a young-looking bald woman stepped out.
"That spell is as disruptive as I imagined," David said.
"But it still remains one of the greatest weapons in a sorcerer's arsenal."
"If you say so, and about your problem, I have a proposal if you would accept," David replied as he watched the lady bow to him before he waved it off.
His position in the universe was far too unique for someone like her to talk to him as she pleased.
"What proposal, if I may ask?" she asked as she finally joined him, and they watched the empty land before them.
