Rene's expression grew tight at Alex's question as Cole was torn between continuing with the pretense or coming clean.

How could he think of outsmarting the young man with such a feeble plan? Cole agreed that Alex was too smart to be messed with.

"Mr. Jude told me about the shares, so do you think it's still right to lie to me?" Alex glared at the man on the bed as he asked, and Mia was nervous.

"Look, Alex…" she was saying but a voice devoid of warmth responded.

"It's Mr. King, Mia, and from today, address your half-sister as Mrs. King," Alex said seriously. Mia was greatly pained but forced herself to endure it.

Joanna was nothing and yet, she had everything now. Rene and her daughter who had lived their whole lives in affluence and were going to be forced to take up some domestic jobs.
