Capítulo 5: Chapter Five

'Scary.'

That thought was going through my head as I stared at my two companions. Shinx seemingly grew in size after starting the weighted training, getting stronger in the process. Now he had the not-so-little guy rerunning circles, but this time, using charge every chance he got.

Charcadet, however, was more impressive, as displayed by the giant fireball he was maintaining. He still had to use his arms to do so, but soon enough, he could see the small fire pokemon maintaining the ball without his hands after manifesting it.

I had a problem, it wasn't something he would have to worry about at the start of their training, but the fast growth made it impossible to ignore for much further.

I was running out of pokemon food... Running out of food in general. I may have miscalculated the food requirement for myself when I started training myself, but that wasn't something he couldn't deal with.

Being a trainer wasn't easy apparently, considering the funds were sparse due to the need of training pokemon and feeding one's self and all the equipment that could get damaged. To combat this, the pokemon centers had this handy thing called tasks. It was like quests in an RPG game but there were no drops from anything he defeated.

Sighing as I closed the bag after inspecting the contents, I reached for my Pokeballs that were in my pockets and decided to stop the training there.

"Charcadet, Take a break, I'll bring you to the pokemon center to rest up."

Charcadet let the giant fireball disappear, the fire dying out with no fuel or power source supplying it as the said power source walked over in front of me. As I was about to return him, the little guy grunted.

I raised an eyebrow, silently asking him what was wrong and he pointed at my backpack. Getting the signal, I crouched down and took out some pokemon food, and offered it to him. Charcadet took it with a silent head nod and sat down to start eating.

I had to wait for Shinx to come around again before waving my hand at him in a "Come here" motion to get his attention. He stopped using Charge and walked over to me as I offered him some food too and took off his weight. The gain was minimal anyway.

I waited for them to finish eating before recalling them and started heading towards the pokemon center. When I entered, I saw some trainers that were passing by and wanted to heal their pokemon but I ignored them as I walked over to the healing device. I had no idea how it worked but the fact that it did its job was enough for me.

There were limitations, however, the best it could heal were surface wounds and some minor fractures, if my pokemon were heavily damaged, I would have to let the nurse take care of them.

However, since most both my pokemon were feeling right now was fatigue, the device would be able to heal them just fine.

After a few pulsing glows, the Pokeballs were ready to be taken out of the device and I did so. Pocketing the two spheres, I immediately turned toward the wall where a giant screen was integrated into. Getting closer I looked over some requests and finally zeroed in on one.

It was a simple request. Population control. Apparently, a flock of Hoppip, led by a Jumpluff was occupying the small gathering of trees where barriers that liked the shade grew. The one that took the task needed to make them leave in any way possible.

Right below it was another task with a similar requirement. Now if only I could remember if Braviary had a good special defense... probably not, I'm thinking about his regional variant. I remember trying it in one of my playthroughs... It wasn't that good, or I sucked, could be one or the other.

Taking out my Pokedex and searching through it for a few seconds, I eventually find the "Code Scanner", after that all I had to do was scan the two codes to register the tasks as claimed.

I needed to go south first to take care of the Hoppit infestation, then I can move over east from that position to take care of the Rufflet flock.

Humming in appreciation at the convenience of it all, I shove the Pokedex back into my pocket, turning to leave.

It should be easy, Hoppip were grass and flying type, Charcadet should be able to make easy work of them and Rufflet should be taken care of by Shinx. At least I don't have to worry about the evolved forms being trained since it would have been written on the task, and the rank of the task would be higher.
