Wiyot stood there; his eyes as wide as they could be. His jaw, at this point dropped to the floor. He then looked at Halian and Arnold before he turned to Greg and Sheila and then faced Calian, Takoda and Penny. The seven of them was in a bit of a semi-circle as they stood in the room.
“Heh heh”. Penny let out, looking around, stuck in place. “What’s going on?” Penny asked.
“Sorry to burst into your party young lady”. Arnold said. “But just came by to help out my friends”.
“But from what?” Penny asked.
“Think enough is enough?” Sheila asked Greg.
“Yeah”. Greg answered. “I believe we have reached that point.
Sheila pulled out her gun and pointed it towards Halian. Arnold began to make a move towards Halian but Greg got his arms around him and was able to restrain Arnold. Wiyot put his arms out, stopping Calian who was headed right towards Greg and Sheila. Takoda got out in front of Penny whose eyes were shot, mouth stuck up like she was in a habitual scream, and her body as frozen as an iceberg.
“You fucking bitch”. Calian said.
“Might not be the right choice of words”. Sheila said, her gun pressed on Halian’s temple.
“Don’t shoot!” Wiyot demanded.
“I think that’s up to you”. Greg said.
“What do you want?” Takoda asked.
“Come with us”. Greg said.
“To where?” Wiyot asked.
“To our headquarters. There are some very important people who would love to meet you”.
“Hmph”. Calian went. “And why does that sound like bullshit?”
“I understand a bit of skepticism”. Greg said, taking out a ChapStick and applying it to his lips. “But they do have good intentions”.
“The road to hell was paved with good intentions”. Wiyot said.
“Maybe that was the old way”. Greg said. “But things are changing. If you stopped and gave it some thought, you’d want to jump on that train”.
“And where exactly is there train heading towards?” Calian asked.
“You’ll have to come with us and find out”.
“Stop messing around!” Wiyot said, causing Greg, Sheila, and even Calian to take a step back.
“Are you okay with your friend having a hollow skull?” Sheila said.
“You’re not going to do it”. Wiyot said.
“Why do you say that?”
“Because you would have done it by now. Stop playing with us!”
BANG! BANG!
Sheila fired off two rounds that spiraled centimeters past Halian’s head. They went into the wall to the right that was by a glass flower vase on a red mahogany table. Wiyot looked at the two holes that were now in the wall before he turned back to Greg, Sheila, and Halian. Halian was frozen in place, the expression on his face was one as though he had seen a ghost.
“I missed”. Sheila said, with a coquettish smile on her face. “But it’s all good. For me, third’s time the charm”.
Wiyot eyebrows and eyes tensed as he made strong eye contact with Sheila, whose gun was still pointed right at Halian’s head. Wiyot clinched his fist, and he took a deep breath for an approximate of eight seconds before opening his mouth.
“Take us”. Wiyot said.
“Glad that you concur”. Sheila said.
Greg and Sheila trailed behind Halian with Sheila’s gun pointed square behind Halian’s head. Wiyot, Calian, Takoda, and Arnold kept their distance not too far behind. They all made their way outside, walking across the front porch to the driveway near the sidewalk. Wiyot searched around and noticed that Penny was not there. He gazed ahead and saw Halian staring back at him.
“I’ll pull up the car”. Greg said.
BANG BANG!
“No!”. Penny said, holding a pistol with two hands, shaking in her boots. Greg and Sheila were quite stunned as Wiyot, Calian, Takoda and Halian all stood in place. The one thing that they could do this this moment was stare at her.
“Penny…” Takoda said.
“My father used to take me to the gun range”. Penny said. “He gave me this when I first moved out. Might as well try out what I learned sometime. I hope he’s proud.
“Yeah, not so sure this is the right time to work out your daddy issues out”. Calian retorted.
“The right time doesn’t exist”. Penny responded with.
“You don’t even know what you’re doing”. Greg said.
“Maybe you shouldn’t talk so boldly when you have a gun pointed at you and your girlfriend”.
“Young lady”. Sheila began. “Do you even know who these guys really are?”
“I know that they don’t deserve what you two are planning to dish out to them”.
“And what makes you say that?” Sheila asked. “How can you be so sure?”
“Why don’t you tell me what they did”. Penny said.
“It is not a matter of what they did, it is a matter of who they are”.
“What the hell do you mean by that?”
“These “guys” are not who you think they are”. Greg said.
“Then tell me who they fucking are!” Penny demanded.
“That is not information that you are allowed access to”. Greg said. “Now, put the gun down”.
Penny directed her pistol to Greg. Greg’s eyes widened as his stance followed suit. Sheila’s eyes dilated and shot when she rushed to take a look at Penny before taking a look at Greg and then turning back to Penny. Wiyot, Calian and Takoda all stood speechless as Halian was still being held up at gunpoint. Wiyot shifted a bit towards Penny but stopped himself from going to her.
“Why the hell not?” Penny asked.
“Let me ask you ask you something”. Greg said.
“What is it?”
“When you drive around on the street do you cut people off or do you try to give people room?”
“I try to give people room”.
“I believe the people who drive like that see risk and value human life. They rather not take the risk to get themselves or someone else killed. But on the other hand, the people who drive without any caution don’t have human life. They do not care if they or someone else dies”.
“What does this have to do with anything?” Penny asked, shaking even more.
“When you look at this situation you have to ask yourself what do you value your life and the lives of the people here or do you not care about any of that”.
Penny’s pupils dilated as she was still shaking, frozen in place. Wiyot could see that she was searching for something which caused the two of them to make eye contact. Wiyot turned and locked his eyes at Greg, Sheila and Halian then directed his focus back on Penny.
“Penny!” Wiyot shouted. “Go!”
BANG! BANG!
