A supernatural society. Supernatural due to the fact everybody in it possesses superpowers that go by the name of "Quirk". About 80% of all people have this power. Therefore, about 20% does not. These people are denominated as "Quirkless" and are normally marginalized and have no future as a hero due to the risks. Except for this one person who got to the number 1 spot in-hero rankings that started his career without one.
His name was Izuku Midoriya, or as he is known by the public, Deku.
From the story he told me, it all started when he met the previous number 1 hero that went by the name of All Might. He told Izuku that he could be a hero even without a quirk!
Then he proceeded to cry his eyes out. I still tease him about that to this day.
After his crying fit, All Might explained his quirk to Izuku. It was a stock-pilling quirk that had been passed down throughout the generations of quirks to be groomed by all his users. After some months of training, All Might gave him his quirk that goes by the name of All-For-One. He used that quirk to get into the most prestigious hero school of Japan, Yuuei.
Though his time in Yuuei turned out as a disaster due to the incredible amount of increasing villainy he managed to pull through it all with a smile on his face.
During his times as a student, he achieved lots of good things being some of the greatest the saving of a boy named Kota Izumi. Kota is a boy about my age that at the time was being threatened by a very muscular villain that had killed Kota's parents. He gave his everything to protect Kota and almost died in the process. He managed to win the fight though he suffered permanent arm damage.
Then after that, it came to me! I was being trapped by an evil man with a mask that was using my quirk for his ultimate plan. That plan was to get rid of all the quirks. These amazing powers had been around for generations and that brought happiness to the world! And then... BAM! He came out of nowhere with some more people and saved me! Soon enough, I was strapped on his back and he became this very bright cyan blur! And punch, punch, punch, a kick! Punch the living shit out of him!
Sorry for cursing but it was awesome! Though I was sure he was going to die because of me... My quirk refused to turn off and I was stuck to him. Thankfully, Shota-kun turned my quirk off with his, and Izuku survived, later becoming my father! Nonbiological of course
'I can't believe it's been six years since then. A memorable six years of heroism. Now, it's my turn to go to high school and I plan on going to Yuuei just like Izuku did! And I plan on doing it without recommendation. Izuku did offer one to me but it would be a cheap way of getting in and I wanted to prove my value! If he can do it then so can I! When I get there, I will ace the exam with a smile on my face! It probably won't be as good of a smile as his but I'll try my best while shouting "I can do it!".'
I finished reading my last diary entry and closed it. The cover picture was me Izuku and Kota all huddled together. We took the photo about 8 years ago when I first met Kota. Back then, we had a pretty weak first impression of each other. We both loved Izuku dearly and we fought for dominance over him.
After two long years, we realized how childish that fight was and we made up. After that, I saw how much of a big brother he was to me. Though he seemed overprotective of me rarely even letting a single person near me. In the end, it was more like Izuku was my big brother and Kota my overprotective father despite the ages.
But sadly Kota had to leave a year later. Just before he left, he told me, "Hey Eri! When we meet again at the entrance exam give me everything you got! Don't hold back because I won't either ok?!"
I spent the rest of those years training under Izuku. He taught me everything he had learned from All Might, Grand Torino, and other great heroes. "Don't be like me. Use both your arms and legs." Of course, he could only tell me that after almost destroying his arms.
Telling me he couldn't teach me everything I needed to know by himself, (which was an absolute lie) he asked some of his best friends for help! Her best friend of all time Ochako Uraraka was the first one to help. Her quirk was "Zero Gravity". By the description she gave me of the quirk, I deduced it was mainly for support. She however showed me otherwise and taught me how to increase the limitations of my quirk. If I'm not wrong one of her ways to motivate me was: "Back in high school I interned under a pro named Gunhead. He was the first person that inspired me in searching for more limits of my quirk outside of the supporting area!".
After Ochako helped me, he asked for another person's help. Her name was Mina Ashido. According to her and Izuku, she was known in high school as the "Dance Queen" and "Gossip Queen". I opted by not calling her either of those and settled by the name "Alien". She accepted that name with no problems. She even looked quite happy. What she thought of me was the "Flow of your body". I could easily understand what she meant by that and why did Izuku choose her to teach me that. The way she moved with her quirk in sync with her body was harmoniously breathtaking. It made my muscles ache a lot throughout the training though...
After that was a frog-like female. Wait a minute... Why does Izuku have so many female friends?! I mean... It's not a bad thing but- You know what, nevermind that. The girl's name was Tsuyu Asui though she insisted I call her Tsu. She was way more mature than the other two and even more than him. One thing dad mentioned is how she would always stay calm and collected even through the toughest situations. That was what I learned next. And may I add, I needed it a lot. After what I was through because of that man... I still have nightmares about it to this day. So having Tsu there to teach me how to control myself was very recomforting.
"What time is it?" I asked myself as I came back from memory land. Leaning over my shoulder and glancing at my digital clock that was on top of my bedside table I was able to see the clock displaying the hours. It read "Seven-Thirty Six". Sitting upright again I let that settle in. "If it's seven-thirty... And today is exam day...."
I let out a loud gasp and jumped from my chair which fell backward and hit the ground with a loud thud. "Today is exam day and I'm almost late!!!" I shouted a bit too loud. Filled with excitement and anxiety, I ran to the closet and grabbed out the special clothes I had previously picked out and that I was saving for this special day.
It was a white top that ended just below my shoulder. The sleeves ended at my elbows puffing up slightly just before the end. It then tucked into a light blue strap with a nice design wrapped above my waist that then pushed out into a skirt at my hips. Under it, I wore navy blue pants that ended around my thigh area. And as always, I took my red shoes and put them on.
I'm not a very fashionable person so this was the best I could do. I closed the closet and walked back to my desk. Bending down, I opened the second drawer rummaging through the notebooks previously owned by Izuku that read "Hero analysis for the future". I finally found the sky blue notebook I was looking for and took it out of the drawer. On the cover, the title could be read in big black letters 'Hero notebook #1'. I always liked how Izuku took notes of all his friends, classmates, enemies, and idols' quirks. They were very detailed notebooks and helped me a lot to understand how to analyze someone's quirk and to get to know other people's quirks. So I ended up deciding that I would do the same as him and take notes of my classmate's quirks and personalities. That way, I will be prepared to face them anytime and I will be able to make dad proud!
I put it back in the drawer and shut it closed. Today was going to be a new chapter in my life. Well... After I pass the exam. Then, the chapter begins.
I opened the door to my room and walked downstairs to the kitchen area. Dad wasn't a person that would waste his wealth on unnecessary things like a huge house or overpriced food that barely even filled someone's stomach. So, we live in a two-story building in the most peaceful part of the city. Big enough for both of us to live comfortably and had a spare room in case of uncle Katsuki, uncle Shoto, grandma Inko or other guests want to spend the night.
Before getting to the kitchen I focused my hearing on trying to hear him. I surprisingly wasn't able to. Not that he is normally loud but I could usually hear him making breakfast, talking to his classmates and friends on the phone, or the constant incoherent mumbling.
I looked at the kitchen counter and saw a note left by him. I picked it up and read it. 'Had to leave early again. I made breakfast for you as an apology for not giving you a good luck kiss. Make sure you do your best on the exam and don't be late! Plus Ultra style! - love Dad <3'
Right. Recently he has started leaving earlier in the morning. I know he has hero work to do and stuff but he would tell me if he made any actual changes in his working schedule.
Setting the note aside and grabbing the toast that had been left for mero eat I walked out the door and locked it.
Yuuei, Here I come!
