Capítulo 4: Abortion Clinic
We got to the clinic 15 minutes before the appointment time, Jodie went up and told them we had arrived and asked if they had a private area we could wait. They lead us to a waiting area that could not be see from reception so there was less risk of our parents finding out.
We didn't have to wait long before being called into the examination room by the doctor. "Hello my name is Dr. Anne Wilson who is the patient?"
I looked at her and said "Me" She just smiled then turned to Rob and asked if he was the dad, he shook his head and told her that he's just a support person.
She then asked Jodie how she fit into the picture, to which Jodie said "I'm her sister and I bought her here today because she doesn't want to involve our parents due to them pressuring her to do what they want." Dr. Anne then asked if what they wanted and what she wanted were different, this time I spoke up.
"Mum wants this abortion but dad's against it so they have been fighting with each other and pressuring me into making the choice they want for me." Dr. Anne looked concerned that this poor young girl felt that she couldn't involve her parents in her decision.
When she started asking the routine questions that were required to get an abortion she asked them as gently as possible the first being how far along was my pregnancy to which I answered "About 8 weeks"
Next was "Who is the father and how old is he?" This is more about making sure that it's not someone who's a adult.
I told her "It's my ex boyfriend Jim and he's just turned 16 a week ago." Dr. Anne nodded and kept asking her questions "Is this your first pregnancy?" I nodded.
"How long have you been sexually active?" I told her this was the first time and I haven't had sex since, Dr. Anne smiled and told me that when I decided to have sex in the future to make sure to use protection. Then she asked her last question "Are you sure this is what you want?" I had no hesitation and replied "Yes".
"Ok we have ticked all the boxes so now we just need to book your abortion and the overnight stay for monitoring as you are so young." I started to panic what will I tell mum and dad about where I am for the night.
Jodie whispered to me she would deal with them and if I wanted Rob close he can stay at her place which calmed me down then Dr. Anne said I could have someone stay with me since I was only 15. I looked at Rob and asked if he would mind staying with me, he smiled and said "You are my world so of course I will if you want me to." I was so happy, we booked the appointment for Friday next week at 11am and left.
